    I know people who feed birds dread the squirrels but he looked so sweet swinging in the feeder! I have a cherry tomato plant and one squirrel likes to climb the plant and steal little tomatoes. Then he sits on the fence and eats them. Bet I get new plants next year by the fence! Lol

    I used the pie container from the store that had a whole pie. I put holes in the bottom to drain the rain water. I am trying to figure out how to attach the top of the container so that it will be a cover. really like the can idea

    • @marcieziv
      @marcieziv  10 месяцев назад

      Hello! If I’m understanding correctly…. Take your pie container , attach your 4 chains or rope at equal points, bring them up together above so they join in center/ take your top , make a center hole and run the gathering of 4 chains or rope up thru center, make a knot and hang. Does that make sense? Thank you for watching my channel❤️

    to help make your platform (mushroom container) feeder more "waterproof" make some very small holes in the bottom of the tray so when it rains the water will run out and the food won't sit in water and become a mushy mold. also if using jute. i like to braid like 3 strands together. t tried just using 1, but i barely lasted one season. when i braided 3 together i got 5 seasons. I live in the midwest and leave them out all year. And 5 yrs usuallly outlasts the recycled feeders.

    • @marcieziv
      @marcieziv  Год назад +1

      Hello! Yes thank you. Indeed I ended up placing holes in the mushroom
      Feeder and it’s under a big loquat branch so it doesn’t receive a lot of water when it rains. Braiding the jute is great. Certainly my viewers will appreciate your input. 😊Thank you for watching my channel and taking time to comment🥰

    Love your bird feeder ideas! Heck, where was I a year ago when this video came out? I am always looking for new ideas to attract more birds to my yard. Any ideas for bird feeders to put out in a heavily snowy area?
    Just subscribed!

    • @marcieziv
      @marcieziv  2 года назад

      Aww you are just too cute! Thank for subscribing and watching my videos!
      Many of the ideas presented in this birdfeeder vid may be used for cold /snow weather. When I lived up north we would take suet and mix with oats, seeds and fruits - - lard can be put directly on tree bark and birds love that. Also making seed rings and place in feeders or hang. If you clear snowy area below feeders and place seeds on below that’s good also. Hanging a grapefruit rind ( half) and fill with goodies. - suspend with a macrame like basket. The beauty of being in cold and snow is that the food doesn’t deteriorate as rapidly as in heat. 😀

    I didn’t see how you gave the birds access to the food on the one with the red top and 2 sticks. Where was it?

    • @marcieziv
      @marcieziv  Год назад +1

      Hi Cindy. The tennis ball can I believe is the feeder you refer to. The feeder has 4 holes in it for placement of sticks as well as holes just above where the stick placements are. This allows for the birds to put their beaks into the holes to grab food whilst keeping food dry. Thank you for watching 😀

    Hummingbird nectar recipe is actually 4 parts water and 1 part sugar.

    • @marcieziv
      @marcieziv  Год назад

      Yes. Ty. The classic recipe is 4 parts water to part sugar as it comes close to the natural sucrose levels found in their favorite flowers. In the winter or foggy and cold weather I make the 3 -1 for more energy as per the National Audubon Society. Thank you for watching my channel and taking time to comment😊 Much appreciated.
