      I do have a lot of respect for people pursuing their dreams no matter what. And I do admire the passion Neil Breen puts into his films and how he tries to deliver as much professionalism as he is able to. Although, It doesn't necessary tell anything about the quality of his personality. It's obvious that Neil Breen has some narcissistic disorder which prevents him to perceive the reality around him as it is. In my opinion he is immune to self-criticism and he sees the world as a ten-year-old.
      It's awesome he does what he loves (considering how fucking hilarious his art is), however I would be very careful in giving him any credit for his personal traits.

      @@VHSMassacre I went to art school for film animation and video, a really esteemed school too and 99% of my former colleagues are now either working on commercials, doing meticulous clean up work for some soulless animation project, theyre helping design some tech company's pamphlets to be distributed at a trade show, and the ones who do work in the studio system are either doing labour intensive VFX work behind a computer, or theyre either an animation rigger or an inbetweener. None of these are careers to be ashamed of, but so very few artists actually get to create something entirely their own that attracts a large audience. His movies are art. What it means to the viewer differs for each person, but all that matters is people love them. Part of me wonders if he is trolling. If he is, that's awesome.

    • @SkyeGuy
      @SkyeGuy 9 лет назад +64

      Here's a straight answer about that from Neil, from an article: "There were some films called classics that audiences go to literally laugh it. They want to see a flying saucer move across the screen and they want to see it dangle from a string. I understand that. That’s not what I’m doing. The hardcore cult film aficionados of that genre look for goofy and funny things. People will laugh at parts of my film. I totally understand that. I didn’t do it as a comedy or a satire. I’ve done all of my films as sincere filmmaking efforts. I have technical limitations. I understand why people may laugh at certain parts of the film. In all of my films, the audience will chuckle here and there in the beginning of the films and I get it. Believe me, it doesn’t bother me at all." Good man-- he should totally be proud of himself. : )

      +HomeStarRunnerTron He's more lucid and self-aware than I would've guessed, but he's not so self-aware that he lets it get to him or affect his film. That's great.

    Can't explain why...but I love this guy & his work. I mean totally appreciate that he has such passion for film, I do too, and that he self finances etc...but, the flicks are total garbage that I can only watch when I need a good laugh or need to feel better about myself. Could I do better? I have no idea. Don't have the money to find out. If I did, would I then have the balls to put myself out there? Yup. That being said, I hope he never stops making movies. Ever.

      You can tell when a filmmaker is passionate about the movie and Neil Breen is exudes passion. It doesn't always work but if a movie can get any kind of reaction from an audience this it is a movie worth seeing. Are his movies good in a traditional sense? No, but they are entertaining to watch and have brought my friends and myself many laughs. I don't laugh at ineptitude but at the audacity for the things he tries to put on screen.
