It's actually really common for studios to Photoshop heads onto stock actors' bodies when making posters. Way cheaper & faster than getting the actors into photoshoots
The pastor who doesn't believe in God isn't all that far-fetched. It's entirely possible that he may have believed in God when he became a pastor, then lost his faith but continued to pretend to believe for social reasons. He may have also been faking it from the beginning because religion is a lucrative business and a church is basically a tax-free corporation.
+DemimondXXIII this will be real when Jesus comes back to take us home for real that is why they are making movies like this to repent because the time is near he is coming quickly
It most certainly does. The list that we all know and love was formalized by Pope Gregory I in 590 AD which in turn was based on the categorization of logismoi (evil thoughts or temptations) developed by Evagrius Ponticus in 375 AD.
christianity is basicaly a unholy amalgamation of stolen ideas from various religions, most of the deadly sins predates christianity from around the dawn of civilization some 8000 years ago, the idea of jesus (a child of a god born by a virgin) is stolen from older religions, the entirity of christianity is heavily based on Judaism.

Speaking about the age cut-off, I wonder if pregnant women stop being pregnant. Do fetuses get raptured? According to the movie, babies do get raptured and the people behind it are very anti-abortion so it makes sense if fetuses did get raptured. How creepy is that, though...assuming the mothers are not Christian? And suddenly the fetus goes 'poof' and is raptured...and then remains a fetus in heaven, oh god, it's suddenly like those giant old kids in Akira! No wait, that'd be weirdly cool. TETSUOOOO!!!!
You'd think but it's so weird an image. Just imagine the atheist pregnant women, suddenly finding their uteruses empty of the fetus that was growing there...or even stranger, how about a non-Christian woman who is giving birth during the rapture and the baby up and disappears. And the whole notion of 'Christians disappear into thin air' makes one wonder, imagine if a couple in which of the parties is not Christian is having sex when the rapture hits. All of sudden, they are having sex with nothing at all.
I think they imply that fetuses are raptured as full grown adults (or at least as children) to heaven. But the non-Christian mothers-to-be won't know that...as if having a bunch of people disappearing into thin air is not scary enough, imagine suddenly having your fetus up and vanish with no explanation. And it just occurred to me, countries with few Christians would not even notice the rapture until they found about it through the news. In Sweden it'd be business as usual. As would in most of the middle east.

So, Captain Cage’s plane is out of fuel . . . but they had to flying to that destination, and therefore the plane would have more than enough fuel to land at the destination airport. So where did the fuel go? Did it get Raptured?
on atheist pastors or such there is the whole clergy project where you have people that once believed in god, but have stopped but are kinda stuck since as you said they devotec their entire life to it and have little to no skill set out of talking about god so are afraid of losing employment, money and such.
Hey Mark! Love what you do. I don't know if you take requests, but if you do I would love to see you review The Langoliers. Please please please. My life would be complete lol
Someone got me the first Left Behind book for my birthday years ago, and I when I finally read it, I enjoyed it. There was a lot in that first book that should have made for some very exciting scenes on the big screen. Heck, just the sequence of all those planes falling out of they sky should have been epic. Make no mistake, this is a story that would require a serious special effects budget to pull off properly. Then I watched the Kirk Cameron crapfest of an adaptation. Not only was the acting and writing horrible, but they sort of scrambled parts of the first two books together to make the movie. And it was REALLY bad. The budget was probably about what was spent on a single episode of "Growing Pains". Based on the way this new version ends, it looks like they barely get beyond the first third of the book before rolling the end credits. I just don't understand the mindset of throwinig this much money away (even if it is relatively small in the scope of modern moviemaking) and then deliberately making such a bad adaptation of the book. It's as though the world of Christian filmmaking seems to demand that no good movie be produced lest someone be guilty of the sin of pride. No one would ever be proud of this kind of movie.
It's sad that the original movies were still better than this atrocity, yeah they weren't good, but this was a spit in the face to actually well made films.
Something you forgot (or didn't know) is that baptists don't consider gluttony to be a sin; in fact, it's rather encouraged. But dancing... that's a real sin.
Also, there are plenty of pastors who know their Bible but don't really believe in God. If they did, they'd be more interested in the truth of what the Bible _really_ says than in the doctrinal crap they tell people each week.
Good job on another hilarious review. Can you do a review on one of this low budget disney sequels like, little mermaid 2 or the lion king 2 or lion king 1/2 thanks
I'm a Christian who believes in the rapture, and this movie was absolutely terrible. One of the worst I have ever seen. My friends and I couldn't stop laughing at the acting and insanely slow plot. And beyond that, just cause I'm a Christian doesn't mean I enjoy all Christian films. Heck, I really only enjoy just a few (The Ten Commandments and Ben-Hur to name a couple). It's like just because I love scifi movies doesn't mean I have to love every scifi movie there is. But yes, this movie was garbage. It wasn't Christian enough to be a made-for-tv Christian film and wasn't secular enough to be a "Noah" film where they at least tried to be interesting.
Bro, I totally feel you. It's so strange how we Christians feel we need to support EVERY Christian production, as though God needs help converting people. -__- But yeah, this movie totally sucks.
I'm a Christian and my family is Christian, but my mom is the type to believe most non Christian movies are bad because they're not Christian. Therefore, all Christian movies are the greatest movies ever because they have a good message. Of course I completely disagree. This movie looks so awful I wouldn't even give it a chance.
Jake Howard Another atheist that gives the rest of us a bad fucking name, look at you becoming the thing you hate, you have become preachy. People like you are the reason I don't label myself as an atheist anymore, you're an embarrassment to atheism, and a hypocrite, people like you go on about how annoying, banal and frustrating preachy people are, then you go and preach, people like you go on about living and let live, but then you see someone who doesn't follow your way of thinking and you preach. I would understand if the person was condemning you, but they weren't, you jumped into this like a little child for the sake of it, in an attempt to show off how 'smart' you are, but the reality is, you aren't smart. Who are you to tell anyone that their views are wrong? Live and let live, if someone tells you that you are wrong, then and only then do you say anything, until such a time you say nothing, you stupid, pathetic excuse for a human being. You're letting your side down. I am ashamed of you, and people like you, so ashamed that I no longer wear the label of atheism, even though I don't believe in god, but another thing I don't believe in is pointless prejudice.
HaHaHa your examples of sin through your childhood were hilarious. Remembering your showers being a little longer...and Pogs during recess are relateable .
About all the kids being taken to heaven, some Jews and Christians believe that kids aren't accountable for their sins until they turn 13 (the Bar Mitzvah age).
Moe Embing and yet one has to give up on their own beliefs and follow yours suit or else we are going to hell, regardless of how good we are to other human beings and how much of a possitive impact we have in our society... yeah... if your god exist then he is an asshole
Enjoyed the review, glad I found your channel This left me wondering how many Christians really believe in the Rapture. I grew up in Protestant Christian church, and the concept had to be explained to me much later in life. It was not something that was taught or explained to me as a child, nor that my church speaks about today. So I just want to assure everyone that not every Christian believes anything like what you see expressed in this movie - even if it had been a good movie. Which it clearly wasn't.
ianharwood Nope, I don't watch those. I just know how to find facts, and I know enough not to look at the lying voice of the GOP. Fox News viewers are consistently the most misinformed about domestic and foreign issues (even less than ppl who don't even watch the news). That fact alone proves my point. There are watchdog organizations out there whose sole purpose is pointing out their falsehoods, lies, and forgeries. Fox News definitely keeps them busy.
ianharwood It’s not anecdotal evidence. It’s the statistics one finds in a couple legitimate studies carried out at American University, Stanford University, and a couple others. U.S. News & World Report and Business Insider put out pieces on it afterwards. Quite the opposite of meaningless. Not all mainstream news organizations are disgracefully dishonest. You need to find fact checking websites, watchdog websites, and peer-reviewed, scientific published research. While there are plenty that ARE disgracefully dishonest, Fox News is the worst and most blatant.
ianharwood This is one story about that study you were curious about: www.businessinsider.com/study-watching-fox-news-makes-you-less-informed-than-watching-no-news-at-all-2012-5 I remember the Yale study and how conflated it became. When you get down to it, the data proves to lean both ways. His null hypothesis was barely proven wrong, and one is just about as likely to know about science as a conservative as you are as a liberal. The only thoughts researchers brought into it is how the elderly nature of tea party demographics increases chances of more affluence, wealth, amassed knowledge, and things like that. Regardless, it isn’t science about which properly adjusted people disagree with tea partiers. It is their horribly misguided, hypocritical, knee-jerk, jingoistic political ideas. I mean come on, they complain about taxes exactly at a time when taxes were at their lowest in fifty years! To properly adjusted people like you and me, that simply doesn’t make sense. “CNN and MSNBC pander to the lunatics who think banning guns will reduce crime” ^ That’s not entirely accurate. Everyone knows we will not see an across-the-board gun ban. Although, I have seen some prove how previous magazine restriction legislation could have saved lives in Tucson had it not been repealed years prior to the incident. You can’t argue with that. I don’t really have a dog in the Michael Brown fight. As I said, I only read fact checking sources, watchdog websites, peer-reviewed research, things like NPR, and nonpartisan sources that give me the facts so I can come to my own conclusions. I’ve gotta tell ya, I do appreciate your dismissal of all three large “news” networks in your last paragraph. You’re probably doing yourself a favor by staying away from all the spin. I’m curious about what it is you’re making reference to with the government jobs thing.
I really like the concept of this movie. Kind of eerie. Reminds me of The Langoliers. On a religious note, Biblical stories like this make me think, if there was a god, and they were like this, I'd willingly play for the other team, or make my own.
The best Christian movies ever made are The Lord of the Rings movies. They may not seem like it, but since Tolkein was Christian and it has a lot of moments and characters that are similar to moments and people from the bible. I'm no Christian myself(yet) but you do notice some similarities (e.g Aragon. He has a hair and beard combo that strikingly resembles Christ and his character is an exiled man destined to become the king of men and lead the fight against Hellish monsters)
His name is Aragorn, not Aragon. Tolkien specifically denied that LOTR was allegory; in fact, despite being good friends with CS Lewis, he was contemptuous of the fact that most of what Lewis wrote was obvious Christian allegory. Perhaps you should read some of Tolkien's letters and other writings before making incorrect pronouncements.
+Andrew Ryan IF the movies had Christian messages, they were put there by Peter Jackson. But they don't. You should read the book. The movies were pretty but ultimately unsatisfying, and they changed quite a bit.
+Andrew Ryan I seem to have missed that part in the Bible where Jesus becomes a king and leads a fight by picking up a sword and kills enemies with it. I'd say Mohammed in the Quran has a lot more in common, since he did have a sword and he did fight hordes of enemies on the battlefield. I think you also have Tolkien confused with C.S. Lewis. But none of that matters because I don't think you're serious to begin with. If you are then you're plain crazy.
most religious branches are fear cults, much like terrorists the play on fear to get what they want. Any decent sect would never push forward such agendas.
Its kind of sad that the little clip you made at the end about you waking up, was more funny, smart and entertaining than the whole "left behind" movie.

Actually, the 7 deadly sins aren't biblical. They come from Dante's Inferno: a 13th century Italian epic poem.
They predate that by at least a milennium in chritian tradition.
The A.I. formerly known as Ultron 7 deadly sins was a literary contrast to the 7 virtues, it has no Christian origin

All those free clothes for the left behind characters.
You had me at "busty drug addict" and "angry dwarf".
"you can watch this movie on mute and understand everything that's going on here." I'm afraid you can do that with most movies.
Try that with Neil Breen movies.
Glad you talked about the poster --never understood the devolution of the art form.
i'm seriously gonna get nightmares about jaden smith now...
man ive watched almost all of your reviews and you make me laugh in every single one hahaha
Haha, Pogs during recess...One of the many items eventually banned at my school, along with Yo-Yos, Pokemon cards and tech decks. In that order..
The clothes falling from the ceiling threw me into a laughing fit
The kid thing is because the sins of the child are burdened on the parents until the "age of reason".
Tonks Moriarty technically, the "age of accountability" isn't biblical
The dream sequence at the end was THE BEST. Mark, you are awesome
There's a few reasons why someone would become a priest even if they don't believe in what they're saying: money, family, appeasement.
True, as it is written "Not everyone who says to Me 'Lord, Lord' will enter the kingdom of God."
God is True!!! Idiot
Another sweaty night thinking about Kirk Cameron.
And Jaden Smith?
Something you forgot (or didn't know) is that baptists don't consider gluttony to be a sin; in fact, it's rather encouraged. But dancing... that's a real sin.
Also, there are plenty of pastors who know their Bible but don't really believe in God. If they did, they'd be more interested in the truth of what the Bible _really_ says than in the doctrinal crap they tell people each week.
The ending was hilarious!👍
Good job on another hilarious review. Can you do a review on one of this low budget disney sequels like, little mermaid 2 or the lion king 2 or lion king 1/2 thanks
I can't believe I saw this in theaters...
I'm a Christian and even I hate this movie
American Dad did a really good job with this concept, and it only took 23 minutes.
But yeah, this movie totally sucks.
Religion is a lie
I'm a Christian and my family is Christian, but my mom is the type to believe most non Christian movies are bad because they're not Christian. Therefore, all Christian movies are the greatest movies ever because they have a good message. Of course I completely disagree. This movie looks so awful I wouldn't even give it a chance.
Jake Howard Thanks pal you are really contributing here.
Great review, great skit! Keep 'em coming!
You dream about getting blown by Kirk Cameron? Are you Ray Comfort in these dreams?
"Behold, the banana!"
I remember my old youth group played that video like infallible proof of intelligent design.your comment almost made me cry XD
Well, Neil Breen could always try his hand at making another Left Behind movie.
I am now subscribing
Chris Stuckman shouted you out and came to check your channel...and I wasnt disappointed. Subbed
Buck Williams, I know what I'm calling my son.
Ha I didn't even notice the road in the main promo lead straight into the ocean! You sir are very perceptive.
Christ himself wouldn't forgive you for watching this God forsaken film.
Jsidhu762 Some things are unforgivable...
+Jsidhu762 i think that if jesus is real, he will come back just to crucify everyone involved in the production of that movie
God forgives what you are saying is the movement of humans not God God forgives
Moe Embing and yet one has to give up on their own beliefs and follow yours suit or else we are going to hell, regardless of how good we are to other human beings and how much of a possitive impact we have in our society... yeah... if your god exist then he is an asshole
Moe Embing I believe it's called a "joke", Captain. Earthlings use it to express something called "humor".
5:10 *angry PIRATE dwarf you mean.
Trust me you dont wanna anger the verticaly impared.
"This is my show where I took about how great jaiden smith is"
lol
I’m not religious but I think this channel not having at least 1M subscribers is a sin
“This is one of the worst movies I’ve ever seen”.
*But the sequel.....*
The dream sequence in the end is so good it is a stand-alone. put that up separately and it can be used for for marketing.
Enjoyed the review, glad I found your channel
This left me wondering how many Christians really believe in the Rapture.
4:33 - Captain's announcement.....LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
By the way, at that point being faced with watching Cameron's Saving Christmas - I'm definitely jumping!
I clicked like right when you made the Fox News joke. :)
ianharwood Nope, I don't watch those.
While there are plenty that ARE disgracefully dishonest, Fox News is the worst and most blatant.
ianharwood This is one story about that study you were curious about: www.businessinsider.com/study-watching-fox-news-makes-you-less-informed-than-watching-no-news-at-all-2012-5
I remember the Yale study and how conflated it became.
“CNN and MSNBC pander to the lunatics who think banning guns will reduce crime”
^ That’s not entirely accurate.
Ketan C. I don't think I mentioned economics.
Ketan C. I didn't say that. Some other guy said that.
LOL! You just became one of my favorite people at 4:18!
I really like the concept of this movie. Kind of eerie. Reminds me of The Langoliers.
On a religious note, Biblical stories like this make me think, if there was a god, and they were like this, I'd willingly play for the other team, or make my own.
If you like the concept of the movie, the book does it 10x better
6:14 Children are innocent because they are too stupid to know better
Didn't watch the all movie, i fall a sleep at 54 minutes
Saw Left Behind on Netflix the other day and it was, "oh hi Mark".
A+ dig a FOX news. Love it.
POGS DURING RECESS!!!! I love it. This was exactly what came to my mind as you said it.
Still better than Birdemic...
+Laurence Vanryne nope, at least birdemic is charming in its own stupidity and incompetence and is so bad that is watchable... this is just boring
Yes but EVERY thing's better than that!
You wish
I'm rly a big fan of your reviews, keep up the good work and see you next year man!
its worst than worst...awful, ,, disaster. ..I cant call it a movie!
Crazy how good "this is the end" was. Same premise
People are already arguing about religion?
Nicolas Cage "hilariously losing his sh#t" had me laughing my head off. he always seems to, doesn't he?
Join the dark side shirt..., joke about God to be a pedophile magician... lol, after your review, I want to see this movie.
After The Host, Cage could take a dump for two hours, film it, with no editing and it would still be a good movie in comparison.
Brandyalla Perhaps you should watch the movies again, because the Christian messages are pretty obvious.
Brandyalla And I know has name is Aragorn, I just made a mistake.
You say he looks bored, but I see "What's going on. How did I get here?"
remenber now on school every damn week we have ""church time"" and we are forced to watch some idiotic biblical movie about the end of the world.
Glad I didn't have that.
most religious branches are fear cults, much like terrorists the play on fear to get what they want. Any decent sect would never push forward such agendas.
Its kind of sad that the little clip you made at the end about you waking up, was more funny, smart and entertaining than the whole "left behind" movie.
