Thanks for all the likes, recent uptick in views and interest guys...spread the word, 100k views and I'll have a crack at the Call To Arms battle.
There aren't many good B5 animations on RUclips. This is awesome.
Loved the video .I moss B5 so much .Always looked forward to space battles.
Looks like someone put their Quarantine time too good use.
You got that right, stay safe ;)
Thank you ever so much.
When you realize the White Star is on average 450m in length (smaller than Galaxy Class Enterprise) but moves like a fighter!
Damn I miss this show.
great animation, true to the show in many aspects.
he battle tactics I have thoughts on.
mainly it's hard to tell at a glance which of the 3 ship types were being swatted like flies after chasing in a column formation (off choice considering the whitestars absolute manoeuvrability advantage) and which were landing (and more importantly taking) the meaningful shots.
fighters as a frontline engagement force against a space-crab seems like a sub-par choice given it's firepower and resilience against far more destructive weapon, better to have them act as wingmen to the larger craft and support them as needed.
that 6 regular whitestars (in a pattern-pretty-suicide formation because the moment the enemy dies they shoot their allies and in space even the speed of light/information can affect how long you end up over-burning a target for) plus 2 heavy-carriers were needed to finish the second ship of speaks further to the pointlessness of sending fighters lacking in heavier weaponry (not even an energy-missile or bomb load) in first for a fight between juggernauts.
Thanks Napoleon 😂
Loved B5....would be great to have the FX's updated...just leave the rest alone. Good job
The Best of the best!!!
Good work!!
So..... most ships look like whitestars of various sizes now?
I miss that show. It had , in my opinion, some of the coolest battle scenes.
i regularly rewatch this, but i agree completely miss this show and the universe. still not surpassed for battle scenes and writing in my opinion, although the expanse comes very very close
J. Michael Straczynski has actually done an interview in regards to a Babylon 5 reboot that is in the works.
They promise a reboot in 23
@@nikolaimiroshnichenko2689 i pray it's better than the reboots and remakes I've seen the last few years
That was awesome! The white star group hitting the shadow ship like that towards the end was epic!
White stars doing what they were born to do. Working together they can take down anything.
I saw J. Michael Straczynski give a talk at MIT about his creation. He was proud of it like a kid bringing home an art project from elementary school.
Wow! That was really cool. Very close to how B5 handled its space and battle shots. And I loved the fighter and carrier variants for the White Star. :D
A white star fleet carrier, I think I would eat a blaster rather than try to fight that many white stars in one go.
The White Star ships was in fact small cruisers of a size, that could by knowledge of Earth technology not open their own jumpwindows.... But as they was Mimbari Vorlon hybrid technology, they could.
Also they sported a heavy Front mounted Main weapon, that could in fact kill a battlecrab on it's own..... Well it needed to rook everything it has in the shot, so the Main strategy would be to use more than one whitestar if possible.
So far so Well written, also a very good reflection of how battle in B5 was shot, that this sharlin seems to standstill and shoot straight forward.
In fact the battlecrab was the first ship seen, that could fire it's Wespennest n in Angels and even strafe it around while firing.
White Stars also could do so but rarely did.
Another Well matched point is, that the overwhelming maneuverabillity of the White Star class lead to fighter squadron like tactics, where the White Stars looked like small like hell ships, dwarfed by their opponents, while in fact, when it cames to resillience and firepower, they dwarfed them.
The only 4 points I have to object on....
ISA outpost.....
While ISA was after the end of the shadow war?!? Scripterror?
6 whitestar firing at the battlecrab from the 6 cardinal directions..... Well, a bit of an Overkill and some unnessecary posing with Power to do it in a clear Formation, not really Ranger style and also it needs the additional shots of those fleetcarriers? Really
Fleetcarriers? They was Well done, not perfekt, from behind I thought for a Moment "New Alien foes? This shot did not Hit the clear recognizable Design pattern each and every races ships had (White Stars as Mimbari Vorlon hybride had their own) but why in Valens Name should one built a fleetcarrier for ships, what are already the most powerfull and fastest ships in normal space and hyperspace alike. I just dont see a reasoning for Such a moloch of a ship.
It's maybe more easy to trap a carrier and destroy him while leaving hyperspace, than to go toe on toe even with 2 or 3 of the White Star ships on Board.
Ah and why in Valens Name is as this White Star attack group engaging the battlecrab and loosing 2 or 3 ships, only one firing any weapons.
On the ofer side, cgi was in parts even better than in the original Show, but planetary buildings looked as cgi as earthdome looked at the Show, also Planet behind was bland empty, like sometimes at the Show, this reminded me to the original, this Mix of great cgi (to the time of the show) and some bland cgis on minor things on the other side. Well place on this point.
The Musik in B5 Hit the nail always. Here it was a good shot on the music, but only a near hit.
Well, aybe I am a bit hard in judgement as I have just seen an Episode of the Show a couple of hours again.
@@aracuron9956 Well said, I wrote a similar opinion and deleted it because I thought it too long for YouTub.I agree totally the White Star fleet carrier was overkill if not plain redundant but still looked cool as hell IMHO.
P.S. Maybe that's not a carrier in the classical sense, Maybe it's a jump-capable White Star Giga-Factory? I have always thought Elon Musk is actually a Vorlon :)
@@aracuron9956 I gotta second your points, enjoyed the view of the white star takedown but since I remember the one-on-one fight taking about the same time, the 6-way shot should have resembled an blender on purée
@@aracuron9956 Couple of things.
Those were fighters which were taken out during the initial attack on the second Battlecrab - the angle and speed makes it harder to spot, but they have single fins at the rear not the dual fin of a Whitestar. They also had to watch their fire during the attack due to the rather line ahead formation they were attacking in. The fighters did exist in one of the canon books - I think "To Dream In The City Of Sorrows". Haven't read it for a while, but if I recall it covered a mission right at the beginning of Sinclairs role as Entil'Zha, and explained both the disappearance of Catherine Sakai and the facial scar Sinclair had in War Without End.
I rather liked the carriers - after all the ISA designed and built the Excalibur and the Victory due to the need for a bigger and more powerful ship than the Whitestars. IMO their look was close enough to the Whitestars that I was pretty sure they were ISA/Ranger ships as soon as I saw them.
I enjoyed this after so long a time has passed.
Rip Mira-Deelen
I had not heard this sad news :( She was one of my favourite characters in B5, RIP Indeed.
@@SpacialKatana The babylon 5 curse strikes again :(
Could not believe it when I saw the headline ...#NeverForgotten #Delenn
@@SpacialKatana She is "Where No Shadows Fall."
You capture the essence of the original cinematography quite well. Definitely feels like OG B5, in HD
Babylon 5 is, and remains, one of the greatest shows of all time.
Your best work yet. Please continue making more
If J. Michael Straczynski ever got a new Babylon 5 show funded, I'd be fine with this level of detail in CGI. How much would you charge him for an episode / a whole season?
You're too kind but, it won't ever happen b/c of who owns rights.
@@SpacialKatana Ok, let's say he decides to make a Babylon 5 - themed show on a tight budget but calls it something else, not to break any licensing rights. How much would you charge him for an episode / a whole season?
How ? Hes dead ya mong
@@Griffin24712978 no?
Very nice! Thanks for the great battle. The dance of the WhiteStar's and that Shadow Dread was beautiful.
Most EXCELLENT AND AWESOME!!!!!-!!!!!!!! Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!! Keep up the excellent and AWESOME work!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Omigosh---wonderful work here. Those Shadow vessels were so creepy but so were the Vorlon ships! I missed the series so much I bought the disc set. I just loved the Bab-5 series!
Nice video except for the part about Shadow vessels attacking an ISA outpost. All of the first ones, including the Shadows had left the galaxy well before the Interstellar Alliance was formed.
Maybe there were a few stragglers that didn't want to go. Or maybe the Drakh found some ships that the Shadows never got around to retrieving during the war and were left behind when they departed for the rim.
Miss this show. It was fringe when it came out. There were people who hated and those who loved it. But it had all the elements everyone wanted to see in scifi
That is SO good. So well done and sympathetic to the look of the original series.
I love Babylon5 just as much as Star Trek from TOS to ST VOY.
Yes! This is awesome. What happens at 3:36 is how I've always thought the battle in episode 11 season 4 "Lines of Communication" should have ended, i.e. multiple White Stars all swinging around to hit the Drakh mothership simultaneously. As filmed, Delenn's ship takes it on alone but it would have been sooo good to have a sudden coordinated strike like you've shown here. Excellent work.
I like the 'Whitestar' Carrier design.
Thanks!
Yes, they are pretty amazing! Are they the "Starchasers" the credits refer too?
@@DeluminatusGM Yes I modelled it.
Awesome
I like how you showed how much damage a shadow ship can do. They always felt like a threat and I always loved that. Good video!
Cheers ;)
Love the 3D fight with the rotating White Stars! Amazing! Also the opening shot with the Sharlin was beautiful, your work with the camera is improving! Keep up the trend! ;)
I Said It Before And I'll Say It Again.....Just Fantastic Video With A Great Musical Score! MORE PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wow! Excellent work. I love it very much. That dance of the White Stars at 3:35 - 4:00 is something very special!
The B5 VFX crew would probably love this.
Too kind ;)

They spared too many WS ships b4 shooting main gun.
Also, why would a WS carrier ship look exactly like very large WS? They fave different purposes thus should be different shapes
This was great guys. You have made a perfect B5 animation. Great work.
This is really good. Makes me miss B5. I thought it was the best written and acted Sci-fy series of all time with epic space battles and such a wild plot to it. I wish they could do a Babylon 6 series.....
The only two scifi tv shows. I really love is Babylon5 and all of Star Trek up to Star Trek Enterprise.
Hey! I thought the Shadows had left our galaxy for good!? Don't tell me those sneaky bastards came back!
Maybe there was a group of Shadows who came out of hibernation late. Therefore, they wouldn't know the rest of their people had left the galaxy.
That was my only complaint about this. The ISA was formed long after the end of the Shadow war so that doesn't make sense. Apart from that this was frigging awesome!
Was wondering where all the B5 fan films were...
Love B5.
The jump point effect looks updated and are now super similar to the one on the show. Gorgeous. And your use of the music from the Soulhunter episode was excellent.
The shadow ships are so strong now and are the same as they used 1000 years ago. Imagine how unstoppable they were in the first shadow war and how strong they could be now had they been in advance development for the last 1000 years instead of sleeping and waiting.
Too bad that wasn't apparent of the show. Earthdome would have had an ACCIDENT when they saw 2 whitestar
I loved the way the white stars spun around the shadow ship as they were firing. I remember reading Niven and Pournelle's 'Mote Around God's Eye' books in which they describe space battles as incredibly beautiful things to watch, and this scene evoked that sentiment.
@Luke Dogwalker I'm still trying to figure out how the Motie Engineer repaired the digital watch :)
The episode actually goes for 1hr and a bit not4:55 , I have on DVD.
8 Whitestars to destroy 1 Shadow vessel? Weeps for the future, ISA !
So we had a super white Star class carrier in here which capable to launch regular white Star monitor 👍😀
That was excellent!! Hope you make more. This really had the B% feel to it. Kudos to all involved. In Valen's name.
Uh, didn't the ISA get formed towards the end of the B5-Earth Alliance Civil war and well *after* the end of the Shadow War, when the Shadows and Vorlons had already left to go beyond the rim? Any "base" when the Shadows were still around would have to be Minbari, Ranger, or Earth Alliance, and not ISA.
Yeah, 'cus people never have secret bases....
Make a game. I would buy it. Love this show.
Babylon 5 comes back: A Remake is in progress
really good stuff. just a thought, i would have kept the whitestars out and introduced a new mimbari/vorlon hybrid fighter for the carriers. would have given you a chance to have some fun creating a possible evolution of the mimbari fighter mixed with the vorlon fighter?
Unfortunately I don't have much time to do modeling, if the channel had support and I actually made some money it'd be different. I had a Patreon page for about a year, no one was interested, so I post what I want when I want :)
I sure miss BABYLON 5 HOPING THEY'LL FIND A WAY TO GET SOME OF THE ORIGINAL CAST MEMBERS & NEWS ONE'S TO MAKE A NEW ERA OF BAB 5.
Most of the old cast dead, Mira last year :( I can tell you now if there's a reboot, I won't be watching.
Nice video but what does the Whitestars need Carriers for? Loved the Carriers design by the way, but Whitestars were known for being the only ships of there size that could open a way into Hyper Space.
I suspect the carriers were for the smaller "Bluestar" personal transports/fighters, not the full-sized Whitestars.
the normal Whitestar class was itself a carrier, housing several Membari fighters, but the smaller Bluestar, as used by Sherridon in "Sleeping in Light" was much smaller than a regular Whitestar so likely did not have space for its own hyperdrive (or whatever B5 called them, sorry it's been about a decade since I last rewatched it)
SpatialKatana 4.2K subscribers I really like this, but no offense. Could you please add more sound to the Babylon 5 ships and weapons next time? I prefer space battles with both sound and music at the same time rather than silence (I know there's no sound in Space!)
You're more than welcome to find 'clean' B5 sound effects for me. I've already spent far too much money on PC's, rendering software etc for scant little return to go and buy sound effect libraries.
They really could have used a few P10's.
I cant find this serie anywere on-line, wy? I whould like to se it again now that que are going to start emergency state of quarenten in 3 days,in Portugal.
Get yer hand in yer pocket, you can BUY the complete boxset on Amazon for a pittance.
When you say environments are from space engine, is that by exporting some kind of skybox?
Indeed
Several points here ...
First, this is the BEST SFX I've seen in a long time. Star Trek and Star Wars fanfic video makers SHOULD be coming to you for their out space scenes.
Second, the scenarios are well thought out: While I do disagree on a few points your work is MOVIE- WORTHY.
And Third, which distresses me a lot: The Babylon 5 reboot series is supposed to be aired on the CW channel, and I seriously believe not only will their SFX be inferior to what you have here, but... B5 the new series will be cancelled after a few episodes.
Thanks David, first they couldn't afford me, second regarding the reboot, I won't be bothering with it. Not b/c of CGI, but I guarantee all the actors will be shit compared to the first cast.
@@SpacialKatana if it was any OTHER channel than the CW, I'd disagree... But I HATE CW because it is all "TEEN AGE ANGST" programs and super hero programs.
That air for a few episodes then vanish. Or descend into outright garbage.
Babylon 5 was a well thought out series and I still miss it.
And... If the reboot is "Babylon 5- Beverly hills 91204" combined... I'M BOYCOTTING IT AND WILL POST MY REASONS OF WHY EVERYWHERE ON LINE!
More cool than anything ST has done.
That's a bloody awful lot of ships.
long term fan here, that was great thanks :)
Glad you enjoyed it!
It was a great series just like Stargate it had great potential but companies killed it...
Not really. Babylon 5 was planned for 5 years and hit almost every objective JMS set out to accomplish.
They definitely messed with Crusade, but even the pre-TNT influenced episodes were kind of sketchy at best. I read the unproduced scripts and they promised some interesting changes.
Carrier ships pop out of a space jump.
Waaaayyyy too much rotating camera!
Wow! Thank you! Amazing!!!!
Awesome, shame they won't make a continuation of the series. I think it would rock as upto date series. Not to say it wasn't the best scfi series of all time, then the fims started ok but as they went along mucked up the conclusion by going to far a head.
😎🖖
In The Beginning/Thirdspace/A Call to Arms are decent.
@@SpacialKatana yes they started well with those films. I just loved how it was all connect with different stories that came into play and different times. For me best moment was when the minbari greatest leader was human was a classic moment.
Whitestars creating a green one
Babylon 5 returns!!!
The return of the plucked chickens!
Sehr angenehme Musik und Darstellung
It's very pretty, but I have no idea what just happened.
Someone picked up their friend but some bullies turned up to cause harm to said friend. Then the big boys arrived and spanked the bullies big time. The End.
this looks beautifull
I miss Babylon 5. It’s sad that the effects are by today’s standard low resolution and WB never paid to remaster them. The should have hired those guys from Finland who produced “In the Pirkinning”, those effects staggeringly good. They’ve since moved on to produce the ridiculous “Iron Sky” series that features moon Nazis and Hitler on a T-Rex.
No telepaths available to immobilize the shadow vessel? Awesome animation though!
If I had Elon's wealth, there'd be live action 'n' everything ;)
Are those Carriers ?? !!!!
That was 'RAW' X/F👍
Just Excellent!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Keep The Babylon 5 Videos Coming...... This Vid Sent Chills Down My Spine!
This was excellent
Amazing Gratz !!!!!
Certainly is !!!!

You know, if the 1960s star trek can get a digital face-lift, B5 should get 1 too. And given that DS9 ripped off this show...
Nicely done!
Awesome work.
Yes! Totally Awesome!..
I felt like we were brought back in the thick of it,..
"B5 our home away from home"
Cheers =)
I wish a project would be greenlit to remake the original CGI. It's a piece of cake, compared to technology of early 90s.
Let me guess, the Drakh found some buried Shadow vessels they left behind? It makes sense! This was really well done! The Hel’zah fighters were really well done.
Stunning and nostalgic.
its interesting as 1 white star can actually kill one shadow ship (if they divert all power to centre gun) 2-3 under normal fire would easy kill it never mind them transport ships firing as well
The concept of a Whitestar carrier is AWESOME!
Cheers, I enjoyed designing + modeling it :)
@@SpacialKatana You did an awesome job!
