I had a complete autism/trauma meltdown at a con, and somebody put me in the green room to cool me off, and Patricia Tallman came in and she was so nice to me and helped me calm down, she sat and talked with me till I felt better. I have nothing but awesome things to say about this woman.
Oh my goodness… she telepathically calmed you!! Thank you for telling us that story. My brother suffers from meltdowns like this so I know, albeit from an outside perspective, how dreadful it can be and valued someone who can pull you out of that is.
Lyta was the one person that Bester would never be able to control, and that deeply disturbed him. His vision was to end at the very top, and Lyta's mere existence crushed his dream.
Lyta is a BADASS of the highest degree. And I enjoyed the telepathic doomsday Arch that essentially started in the pilot and was only realized in season five. It took novels about the telepath war to conclude it. My favorite scene of hers was when she took control of EVERYONE in the Zocalo and Sheridan put the PPG to her head. That was frickin' awesome!
It always bugged me that the B5 crew would use her abilities, when they needed her help but not help her when she needed theirs. Basically the person who helped them achieve the most and they had the crew ignore or turn their backs on her. Lyta was wronged and the biggest thing that JMS wrote badly about.
HI there! Thank you for this montage! This character was one of my favorites from the show. Her development arc is just amazing - she also embodies the Hero's Journey. And after all the shit she's been thru, she did not give in to Darkness and still decided to serve "the Light side", learning to put boundaries on those that tried to push her good will. After 15 years of investigations, I have realized that this show has a lot of "disclosure" it it. It is astonishing that they put so much remote view protocol and other esoteric real stuff and most people have no clue and take it as sci-fi. Heck, even the sex scene is disclosure. When you get really strong and prolonged orgasms, its like a pressure value opens to all the emotional wounds that have not been treated. All kinds of dark and forgotten memories come flooding. Also some happy ones. EDIT: this can lead to some pretty dramatic catharsis right after or even during sex. People not experienced in this get massively confused as to why they feel such a strong sadness/despair/rage after good pleasure. (Laughing ecstasy is usually more accepted after pleasure than compulsive crying and the impulse to put your body in a fetus position after emotion calms down). That's why so many people resonate with this show deep inside without really understanding why. The visual quality and the acting of some side characters is mediocre at best. But the concepts and acting of the main characters is absolute top notch. And then when you get to know the backstage and all the kind of troubles and limitations they had to do the show and still pull it off, you realize that there were a lot of synchronicities during the making of. For this is yet another sign that this was "benevolent" disclosure, unlike all the satanic stuff Hollywood does. Cheers!
Patricia was a total hottie, and was adventourous as a performer, doing much with expression and body language to carry the really meanings behind what the character was doing. She moonlighted as Gate McFadden's stunt double on Star Trek. Now, she's a sweetie with a social media presence based around mental wellbeing, kinda appropriate.
Not so much moonlighting; Her main regular work was as as a stunt performer. Lyta was the role that opened doors for her to get more "normal" acting gigs, but she was still much in demand for stunt-work.
@@therealpbristow She was already known as an action/horror performer. I'm pretty sure she was doing the Stunt work because she enjoyed it. Checking her IMDb, she stunt doubled Majorie Monaghan on ST:VOY,... aka, Number One on B5 lololol Monaghan is listed as 10cm taller
You're right about the Romulan, but the officer she played was on the bridge of the Defiant in DS9. She also played one for the raiders in TNG, when the Enterprise gets a barion sweep.
In the bar scene where she made all the patrons dance to her tune, when Sheridan walked up behind her, put the PPT to her head and threatened to blow the back of her skull off, I always wanted her to turn around, look him dead in the eye and say, "Are you sure that would even work now?" then raise an eyebrow. In truth, it was left open to whether it would, as she clearly would have sensed him coming up behind her and she let him put a PPT to her head. She just really didn't want to hurt her friends.
Moving her out of her apartment, because the B5 command team was finished using her...and requiring her to pay rent when they had made sure she could never be employed legally again after their war with the PsyCops was...TYPICAL.
Yer like I kind of get the reasoning the vorlons had been paying for the room and she was in one of the more expensive rooms and once the station went independent they needed income like they did say she could use a smaller apartment for free but still shitty like I get it they needed her angry and shit for all the telepath rebellion stuff but it felt like They made the crew do a 180 in personality when it came to her.
@@naturelass Sheridan made her eyes bleed. She risked her life to save Sheridan from Earth torture. She was ordered to wake the TPs as kamikaze bombs. Sheridan and Deleen can pay her rent.

I have nothing against her as a person, in fact what I've heard about her, she seems quite lovely, BUT she just overacts so badly in every scene. Everything is over the top, every expression, line, glance. Nothing is subtle, even when she appeared on STNG as a Roman / Lifeform she overacted in what few scenes she had; extreme glaring about, even such overly dramatic ... breathing LOL. It just pulls you out of the moment and ruins every scene. Is she pretty? Undeniable. Can she act? I really don't think so. Maybe if the scene calls for an over-the-top extremely unbelievable character, then maybe. Maybe M.Night can put her in one of his overly dramatic scenes a la "Old".

She is a very nice person, and has issues with metal health and so knows how to deal with it ... she runs courses now ...
I've met her. She's super kind & fun.
