Just retired and was going to buy a towable RV but did not need the stress of gambling with the junk they are producing, so I bought a cargo trailer and built it out myself, life is too short to put up with these greedy RV manufacturers and dealers.
Absolutely, it is 100% the poor quality and absent customer service that is preventing me from getting back into RVing. No way am I going down the road of so many terrible stories that I see. The RV manufacturers took total advantage of consumers during COVID and now it’s changed 180 degrees….karma
Glad the RV companies are feeling the pain……they’re not standing behind their products….some of the units fall apart before folks can use them….then it stays in the shop for months at a time. I’m glad RUclipsr (Liz Amazing) is putting these companies on blast about how they are treating their customers just horrible. Thanks for the video❤
A lot of valid points but the main reason for sales declines is that hundreds of thousands of new RVers just bought an RV in the last 4 years. There is no new market to sell to at this point and when you add in poor quality, consumers leaving the activity, interest rates, etc. its not a mystery.
One major reason for RV sales dropping, RUclips star Liz Amazing. Her videos showing the poor quality of new RV’s has scared my family off of purchasing.
We just had a $15,000 bill on our 2023 Newmar Dutch Star -We have had other serious problems with this rig since day 1 -We will NEVER and I mean NEVER buy another one -These things are just junk and we will do other methods of traveling 🤯
What? No! That's terrible. I've read in various forums that Newmar quality has been in decline since Winnebago took over. You should get in touch with Liz Amazing.
This reminds me of the 1970-199? period of American automobile industry. American cars were so badly made and Americans had had enough of it! They voted with their wallets and bought Japanese autos. If the Japanese enter the American RV market, there won’t be an American RV maker left!!!
New to your channel, very insightful analysis and exactly on point! Poor quality RV's are becoming legendary, in a bad way, it is discouraging prospective buyers from coming in and is even resulting in some who have purchased poorly built units to have a bad taste to leave the RV market! The industry motto seems to be "Pay more, get less". What other kind of business is so self-defeating?!
Unfortunately the industry has done it to themselves. They make poor quality units with problems right from the factory and then IF they warranty them you could be waiting months for the dealership to repair or sometimes may be forced to take them back to the original manufacture. The entire industry is a disgrace and as I said they have done it to themselves. You tube has also helped warn people in the market of such poor quality.
It is a combination of factors leading to a decline in sales. I believe fuel prices are a lions share of the issue. RVs are known gas guzzlers and fuel prices hit the wallet hard. Even a moderate trip of 500 miles is going to hurt. 2, the quality just hasn't been there with RVs post COVID. That is the 500 lb gorilla in the room that the industry has to come to terms with. 3, lack of warranty support and RVs sitting in repair for months. The horror stories are getting out and have made people gun shy to purchase new. A lot of folks are looking at used pre Covid years. Personally, I was looking at a mew B plus but held off on purchasing just because of this very fact. Lastly, the industry needs robust competition from overseas manufactures to shake them out of their slumber and force their hand to produce a more quality product.
Cutting quality always leads to bankruptcy. Many manufacturers will be going broke. The PE firms will be sweeping in and buying brands at fire sale prices and start back up debt free and run the cycle one more time.
Also, rising camp ground prices and general public tolerance of RVing has declined. I see a lot more no overnight parking signs than I used to. One final thought, at least with the class B RVs market there was a rash of one off custom builders taking customers away too. Just search RUclips and you'll see hundreds s of them. I love your videos. Thanks for sharing.
Back in 2002-2003 we had a custom fiver built by New Horizons in Junction City, KS. Loved it. Spent 3 1/2 years full timing in it. Now, we want to get back on the road part time (Class C, this time). But we are only looking at used units built before the pandemic. We will get whatever we choose inspected by a NRVIA certified inspector. We are doing so because of the widespread reports of quality issues. Quality, safety, reliability: those are what is important. Maybe someday we will buy (or have built) a new RV, but not until the RV industry gets its act together.
It’s amazing to us as we travel the country just how much inventory RV dealerships have on their lot. We ordered our Alliance in 2021 but our Lance we purchased in 2024 was a 2022 holdover. Hard to imagine them having to hold a unit for 2 years as inventory. They need to bring prices down and increase quality. Great analysis.
It's incredible that dealerships are holding on to models for that long. I hope you got a great deal on 2022! Dealerships are paying for each of the RVs on the lot. At some point they may have to sell at a loss if its not already happening.
Good info. I have a 2020 Winnebago that was bought before Covid. It took 18 months to get it where it needed to be. But now it’s perfect for the past 3 yrs. I would never get rid of it with today’s quality of diesel motorhomes.
You guys are spot on with your reporting and I found the best time to purchase an motorhome is after the new models arrive on the and if they still have brand new 2023s that’s bargain hunting. Will never buy a brand new motorhome again,to large of a depreciation.
Love your channel btw. Thanks for the update on RVs. Liz Amazing channel tells story after story of RV quality failures. It’s really sad that people sink so much money into RVs and are stuck with literally junk. Buyers beware but I agree now is probably getting to be a good time to buy. Prices hopefully will drop even further.
We love what Liz Amazing is doing. And, she continues even though some manufacturers are pushing back heard. I have a lot of respect for her. Thanks for you continued support!
I love your channel, and enjoy your videos. As a long time rv owner I’ve commented on your channel before. We are on our 8th coach, purchased new three years ago and still love it. These are just my opinions. I’ve seen ups and downs before. The RV industry took a big hit in 2008 as well. And in other years. The growth we saw during Covid was unusual. The “cool” thing to do and I never thought it was sustainable and not a lifestyle for everyone. As you say, some manufacturers will go under, some small dealers selling out. Very Unfortunate, but part of the cycle. I feel for folks who are trying to sell there rigs now, not a good time. But good deals now if you’re in the market and can handle the interest rates. Buying? Get an inspection. Good video. Thank you
We are living in hard times, prices of everything is way to high, I bought a 2018 Toyhauler travel trailer..I look at new RV class a well over $150,000, class b&c are crazy money, I have a big truck 3500 so I went with used 2018 Toyhauler and save money, because I got it in dead winter
I've anyways considered the RV industry as the 'bellwether' for the economy. They seem to be one of the first to take a hit once the economy seems to struggle. Living in northern Indiana, I usually notice early on due to the occasional local news coverage that becomes more prominent over time. But this time, there's other factors that muddies the water: 1) Covid probably caused the RV sales to spike upward., 2) The quality seems to a huge issue now (but I wonder how many first time buyers are even aware of that issue)., 3) Inflation. It would be interesting to know how much the RV industry expanded over the past 3-4 years and if sales are just returning to normal. I should add, I don't own a RV but for some odd reason I enjoy watching the RV videos. Keep up the good work.
Interesting to hear the perspective from someone in Indiana. Thank you for sharing. I've heard the RV market has predicted economic downturns. I think it's the same for most higher priced recreational purchases like boats.
Very good points. I be agree Covid had a lot to do with the increase in sales. And RV’ing was the flavor of the time. We’ve owned a number of rigs over 35 years and have seen the cycles. The 2008 housing bust hit RV sales hard as well, and if memory serves, before the bubble burst.
Sherri & John if noone else has mentioned this, you both are truly in your element with this type of coverage and content. We follow quite a few RUclips channels and noone else out there is providing this type of detailed (and fact-based) content. THANK YOU!!! We learn so much from you guys!
Great video !!!! During Covid, most manufacturers and dealers treated their customers like trash with price gouging and terrible service. Customer service is horrific, I had a bad experience with RV 1 in Sarasota and LaMesa in Port St Lucie, Florida. Now the tables are turning. That's why I'm gonna wait a bit longer to buy my new RV. Same thing is happening to the automobile industry. This is Karma to the RV industry. Thank you for sharing.
What's not imploding in the industry? More expensive lower quality RVs with crappy warranty service/support to start with. Then there is higher interest rates, cost of RV campground spaces + storage and don't forget the outrageous insurance gouging too!
Price of gas and diesel are up . prices are up for RV. interest rates are up Poor quality Warranty problems No lemon laws to protect buyers you pay big bucks for a machine and nothing but problems and dealerships dont care 19:16
The state of the industry makes me so sad. Feels like it doesn’t have to be as bad as it is; especially when it comes to prices and service. 😢 Wonderfully informative video. Thanks for sharing with us! 🎉
I totally agree with the quality problem, I'm a big fan of the REV RV Group, and have owned both Fleetwoods and Holiday Ramblers, but our next purchase sadly will not be a REV motorhome.
That's unfortunate. But quality hasn't been much of a concern. We love REVs floor plans but wouldn't by another due to quality concerns. Which brand would you buy?
I was chatting to a manufacturer rep about 6 months ago (these folks only make class c’s) and he was saying that their sales were slowing, class A sales were effectively dead, and trailers were really in trouble. Class B’s he thought were holding their own, only in that they didn’t get to expand production because there was delay in getting a chassis. Biggest challenge on trailer side was way too much inventory..and dealers were going to have sell at costs lower than they purchased. New Class B prices still don’t seem to have reduced at all, actually have gone up at least on the ones not owned by the big manufacturers (so folks like Pleasureway, Roadtrek, Panoramic all of whom are smaller, but generally better quality than the large manufacturers ). Quite enjoyed this update, but remember this is to be expected. I don’t see any need for concern, actually in my view it is all positive news. When you over produce, charge too much (over $200,000 here in Canada for a motorized product), poor builds and have poor client service at the dealership the market will correct to the positive. Hopefully that will lead to more realistic pricing, better quality (which really seemed to go downhill in the 2020 -2022 period) and service closer to what you can expect when you go to a car dealership.
Great video guys. We knew things were gonna get bad and the deals would be there and now the numbers show just that. Hate to say it but we all saw it coming.
Some resorts may have the 10 year rule but state and national parks welcome RVs of just about any age. Also some will let you send a picture to demonstrate upkeep.
It cracks me up that some of these dealers think that 30% discount on a '23 is a "blow-out" sale. 😂🤣 IMHO, part of the reason for slow sales is the bad attitude of the manufacturers towards the consumers when they have warranty issues. GD for example. On another note, do you think this was a good time for GD to debut their new motorized RV?
Absolutely NOT! That said, they probably planned the debut over a year ago. Maybe they're thinking it will move attention away from the frame flex issue. Don't look in this hand...check out the other one.
I pump out campers where dump stations arent available. I see all the new trailers from all the brands. Anything new is nothing but a box towable box of issues.
The Sprinter Van is Superior to anything out there and there are plenty of self build videos on YT that will do a superior job !! Save your money for better things in life !!
Biggest factor to decrease market is travel has changed. More people are utilizing flying and cruises. We just purchased our 2nd Super C and quality has been better but we are also looking at cruises and utilizing our passports.
come on it started in 2007, when they decided Class A would be 6 figures and you could take out 10 yr or more loans. The parks creating a 10 yr rule even if you own a 500k 2009 40ft pusher, it will burst and then it will be really bad for a few years. When a oil change cost $600 there's a issue.
We started RVing in 2021 so I'll have to take a look at what happened in 2007. We've never encountered a park with the 10 year rule. I know they exist but there's lots of good RV camping available. However, we have seen campgrounds raise prices.....a lot. Thanks for sharing.
@@AmpedtoGlamp after new laws in 5 states banning rvs out of parks and at stores, parks will explode and most are more than 10 yrs old and therefore causing parks to adopt more 10 yr rules due to all these 20 yr old rvs everywhere. Plus most rv insurance wont cover Florida, and nevada now, due to weather and burning man idiots. im 55 and have never been in a yr without an rv, all the way back to my dad buying our first trailer in 1971. Its hostile and in Utah we are about to vote to ban all off roads access to any land, due to van life idiots destroying the desert, i hear next year we will be voting on a ban of all rvs in parks over 29ft long. As Vets take to the road and people who cant afford to live its going to come out that no rv has residential living certifications only temporary.
yeah and really they're tired of fixing trailers that full timers pull off road and destroy while under warranty, and China is trying to geta new rv approved with DOT which will blow up the Class C market.
An intetesting comparison would be looking at boat sales to RV sales. Marine quality has always been higher then RV's. Quality is an issue in new home builds too. Sadly there are just as many scary stories about new homes build sub par. How have other markets faired? Are build quality better? Are there stronger consumer protection?
Im currently renting a 2020 Fortis 35mb and most of the incidentals like window levers, shades, upholstery, flooring is all broken or worn down. 60,000 miles and i know renters destroy things. The generator is leaking oil and the owner was hinting during the walk through try not to use it. Makes me question why would I get my own.
@AmpedtoGlamp thanks for the Info on bad years, I'll avoid. 100% agree with them not making repairs. It's a business get money out of it and don't put money into it if necessary but man your basically telling me don't run the generator for the A/C but the windows don't open so just cook inside. Nah, ain't going to happen. If they want to run this thing into the ground I'll help em.
During Covid, when taking a cruise meant probably getting sick, and flying on planes meant wearing a mask, everyone wanted to be separated / isolated. So RVs and AirBnB exploded. But that all ended 3 years ago. Now everybody is back on airplanes, in hotels, on cruiseships. There's a flood of used units out there and not many willing to pay for the new ones. That, and interest rates are the highest since the 1980s. That said, this is a great time to be a cash buyer of a gently used 2-10 year old RV.
We purchased our Winnebago Vista in May 2024. Got 7.9% for an interest rate. Had an independent inspector who only found a handful of minor things wrong. So far, we are very happy with Winnebago.
We too have a Winnebago Vista, but a 2022 model 29V we purchased new. We should have had an inspection, but after 7 other motorhomes over 32 years I did my own. I missed that the house batteries were bad, and that the skylight had a hairline crack. These got fixed very quickly, and the build quality of our motorhome has been pretty good and we love it and the lifestyle. Our rig now has 39,000 miles. We’ve had accessories go bad ( water pump, awning motor, step motor, tank valves, rear camera) but nothing that stopped us from using it. My only disappointment with Winnebago is the radius roof design. I’ve had to reseal the roof to side wall radius twice already. We love the changes they made to your year. Good luck with your coach
@anthonyb2334 That's a lot of accessories to fail in only two years of ownership. I'm glad the structure and body of the RV held up. And you have a great attitude too! We don't let things keep us from camping and having fun either!
The build quality in the last 5 years has gone down the drain. The larger companies that have bought out the small ones are taking months to years if you have a problem. If I buy again it will be used and 5-10 years old.
All industries. People that can afford RVs and other recreational items like boats, offroad toys etc are being layed off at record levels. Real inflation is about 25% people need basic items like food and housing. Every other products will decline in sales.
Placed a deposit on a new 2023 Class B in January. We returned to look at it and the lithium battery was dead. We asked them to fully charge it and returned in 2 weeks to test it. The lithium discharged too fast and the screens and trim had popped out. To top it off, the sales person insisted that we did NOT need an inspector. So, we steered clear of it and the dealership, and ended up with a 2025 Class B from a dealer that welcomes inspections.
@@sarahann530 We switched manufacturers and ended up with Coachmen Nova. So I can't compare apples to apples for you. However, we priced a 2025 that was the same model as the 2023 and it was about 13k higher if I recall
@@sarahann530 Actually it wouldn't hold a charge. Dropped to critical ASAP after being fully charged. Maybe it would be okay but I'm so new at this I didn't want to take a chance.
People are not buying new, because these RV manufacturers are putting out overpriced sub-par units that they refuse to stand behind. And they wonder why no one is buying? Gosh, I wonder why? This is what happens when you have no accountability in an industry, the manufacturers wanted the freedom to put out high-priced trash and have no accountability, So I ask the manufacturers how exactly is this working out for you now? I completely agree it's the trash factor, I'm looking for a used unit, and many still think that their used units are worth a goldmine still, and they are sitting. I was looking for a Class A, then my plans changed and now I'm looking at LTV and people are ridiculous in what they want for one, But to be honest I don't want to buy a new one, because I will be a full-time and I need a quality unit that I can trust.
Just asking, could it possibly be because of the direction this administration is focused on cutting back on gas operating vehicles but to focus more on electric ?
Instead of “decontenting” they should up their game on amenities and quality. Plus, the interior designs of grandma’s kitchen and den are dated and not what customers want.
The fault also lies with the consumer. I don't know how many YT videos I've watched where someone has complained about screws falling out, but then says "I can live with it." Or doors falling off the hinges, followed by "but I can live with that." You repeatedly let the manufacturers know that you'll accept junk and, so, that's what they've given you. And at a much higher price, too. The other thing is that if you don't buy from dealers in your area you better not need service or repair cause they don't want to service you.
Good. They have been bending the consumer over for the last 5 years. I was going to buy new. But I did a lot of research and didn’t see alot of positive feedback. If I am going to buy a project, I’ll buy something old. That’s exactly what I did. Picked up a 2 owner 2003 35’ Forrest river cardinal in immaculate condition for the age. Was kept under cover and didn’t move for 12 years. Owner stayed in it for 2 weeks out of the month over the last 12 years. The guy is also very meticulous. The only thing I had to do was re-wire the trailer light pig tale & put new wheels and tires on it. Paid $4,000 for it, spent $1,500 on 5 wheels and 14 ply tires, figure I’ll have another $1,000 in misc expenses including the fuel it took to get it out of South Carolina. This thing is solid. Going to polish the fiberglass, replace the flooring, paint the interior and do some nice counter tops / build a desk. All in I’m looking at $10k. For something that I own out right & I can tweak to my taste.
Big Boo hoo to the manufacturers, give the consumers a better quality for their money. Plus you have a dumb bell president that has run this country into the ground!!!!😢
They tapped out the market. They build junk. Interest is to high. Gas is to high. National parks are full. Most if not all camp grounds are raising the cost so its not that affordable anymore...especially for the income challenged family where camping is (was) thier only vacation. Greed from nuts to bolts.
In 2018 I saw nice new toyhaulers for 80-90k. Now they want 160k or more. I paid 36k for my used 2013 5th wheel toy hauler. It still is working ok. They all break towing down bumpy hwy 5. I fix the minor things that keep breaking. I Go camping and have fun. 150k or more for these little class b rigs is funny to me. Way way overpriced. There are plenty of used rigs in any class for a lot less money. They all break. They always will. Rv’s are a money pit-get one go camping-have fun-when things break-fix them. Go camping again and enjoy life. I love my 2013 44ft toy hauler 5th wheel. Maybe I should get an airstream. No slide outs can fail if there are no slide outs.-lol I feel too cramped with no slide outs. Camping is a blast
Hello Family, my wife and I. We are looking to buy a Newmar, Mountain Aire or Dutch Star. There are so many at dealer now. We are watching the prices down, on new 2023. There are 2024 on the lots, and 2025 are coming in a few months. Im looking at four 2023's now. That has drop from 700,000 to 420,000. I will wait until September, then up in.... Thank you, for the info....
And, I'm sure they will sell them for even less since Newmar controls how much of a discount dealerships can put on a new RV. Best of luck! Let us know which on you get!
Low quality and poor customer service. The service part is why I ordered my trailer from a local family owned dealer. That was the best decision I made in the whole process.
A lot of people are choosing older, more reliable models to fix up. Word is spreading fast that most new RVs are absolute crap, and the companies don't care AT ALL. I don't feel even a tiny bit sorry for them. Rvers are finally catching a clue, and those who are new are choosing more wisely.
Thank you. You both know your stuff. I'm not so fortunate in to know such stuff. If you happen to have a moment could you let me know if a Jayco 30z is worth the effort? It's my dream and I'm not sure if to sell to buy a motorhome is wise.
Begin rant here: $crew them! Ok, so that is a bit harsh, but I just call this paybacks for all the horrible quality and service they stuck consumers with during the big money grab. To this day I have not chosen an RV because of all the ugly history. You guys have shown us some beautiful "looking" coaches during your times at the big RV events, but we have decided looks are nothing more than a wig on a pig. My only concern is for the loss of jobs that come with slowing production. I just hope the idea of quality returns one day. Between what we have seen with you guys and Cozy Living Machine (and many others) we are staying away especially from motorized RV's period. That is, unless we win multi-millions in the lottery and can afford a bus like a Liberty coach where you get the quality and you indeed pay for it. We have just come to the conclusion that build quality and materials are relative and at best subjective to what all these coaches are made of, which is junk. And service, or even being able to get service is so horrible it is NOT worth it to us to deal with that frustration. We have heard all the excuses for why everyone has so many problems with their coach which we think began with conditioning over time from the sales people, "You know its like driving through a earthquake and your coach is always going to need repair..." etc. And for us suckers at the dealership looking to buy a coach and find so many flaws on the lot, "Don't worry, after we finish the paperwork we will get it into the shop and get everything fixed before you take delivery." Why in the world is it allowed to leave the factory like this? All this and more to say that after all of the video's you have put out, we keep seeing this common denominator where we find owners parroting stuff like that and just accepting all the nightmares because they have been conditioned to just accept it. Well, THANK YOU Amped To Glamp for saving me from the tortures of ownership! We have entertained a bumper pull at most, but every time we go look at them we find the same disappointments seen in motor coaches if not worse. We follow up on some video's of people who own those same trailers to find the same laundry list of complaints. We are SOOOOO disenchanted with the RV life now and my wife and I were talking and figured if we spent even $70,000 on a coach, or more, just think of how many nice hotels we could experience across the country! How many guided fishing trips we could take and on and on as we calculated and pondered our options. Plus we would not have to store, repair, or insure a coach or any RV which are less to worry about in our old age. Maybe keeping it a bit more simple is smarter even though we will just have to miss out on some specific kinds of camping experiences. Anyway, I have enjoyed watching your channel and appreciate being enlightened without having to actually suffer the consequences first hand. The internet has been a great tool allowing me to live vicariously through others so that I can make informed decisions before making bad decisions on my own. Even though I wont be buying what was previously known as my dream coach, I will be interested in seeing what happens next in the industry. I don't expect prices to come down so much to change my mind because it is way more than just being over priced. I just hope that somebody will step up and be the new face of quality, but I really doubt it! Thanks again for all the content so far and remind John that when he has more work to do on your coach and needs a hand, I am still available to come by with my comfortable chair and a cold drink so I can watch and giggle. (wink wink)
Hold on....let me grab a cup of coffee before reading this one. It looks loaded. 😉 Everything you wrote is the truth and it saddens me that the RV industry is driving away future RVers like you. But I get it. It's the reason why we still have the Bounder. We don't want to purchase anything new because we don't want to spend another 3 years getting it repaired. And, John's always saying....."well at least we know how to fix this one". And it's not just you. The RV salesman tactics caused my brother to reconsider buying a RV. He wants nothing to do with them after the garbage they tried on him. Quality wasn't mentioned in any of the quotes we found from any of the CEOs. Would have been nice if just one of them recognized that one of the reasons sales dropped is the lack of quality. And it would have been even better if one of them stood up and said we are going to change that. We'll have to wait and see what happens. BTW..we'll be putting in a new fridge. John says come on over. He could use a hand.
You are right , quality of build of new RVs has scared people away , who would buy a new RV , when the chances are pretty good that it will be in the shop waiting for warranty work, for up to 6 months , while you are paying monthly payments on the unit, people are done with this type of sales tactic the Mfrs have only created this them selves , now they are getting payback from future RV buyers , the market needs to weed out those mfrs, sadly it’s most of them , right now , GREED
Every first timer bought during the CCP virus and found RVs to be overpriced, over financed, a money pit, difficult to store and maintain, had no experience driving and towing, expensive to use and had no idea how they work. Most full timers found it was a lousy and expensive way to live. Now the market is flooded with used units driving prices down.
I am new to the game of RVing and I was told to never buy a new RV because I will get more bang for the buck if the original owner took the depreciation hit. But I was offered a new 2023 Thor Challenger 36FA (800 miles) for $130,000 (MSRP $257,000). It doesn't have the leatherette seat covering but that's ok. It sounds like a good deal to me. What do you think? Thanks

We're hoping this is a wake up call.
The PE firms are already circling.
What you write is very true. Thanks for watching 😊
This industry definitely had some serious growing pains and need to get it together cause its been JUNK
I appreciate your usual detailed analysis and review of the RV market. Thank you, Sherri and John, and continued safe, happy travels.👍🏾❤️🙏🏾
Our pleasure! And thank you for your continued support! 😊
Buying a pre pandemic model is a good decision.
Excellent info!!! I think it will get worse still before it gets better! Thank you for the info, great job!
Good info.
I have a 2020 Winnebago that was bought before Covid. It took 18 months to get it where it needed to be. But now it’s perfect for the past 3 yrs. I would never get rid of it with today’s quality of diesel motorhomes.
Best to hold on to it!
You guys are spot on with your reporting and I found the best time to purchase an motorhome is after the new models arrive on the and if they still have brand new 2023s that’s bargain hunting. Will never buy a brand new motorhome again,to large of a depreciation.
Thank you! And, you are so right. So much value is lost in the first year.
You are on point. Yes low quality. Constant breakdowns.
Oh yes. And we just know way too much about breakdowns
I was waiting for ypu to mention poor quality. You are spot on.
I was wondering how so many CEOs missed it in their assessment. Or maybe they know and don't want to admit it publicly.
Good video. Thank you
Thank you @anthonyb2334. You're spot on with your points!
Me too! - "I don't own a RV but for some odd reason I enjoy watching the RV videos"
Nice job, first time watching. Like your vibe and presentation
Thank you! 😊. Glad you found us.
Sherri & John if noone else has mentioned this, you both are truly in your element with this type of coverage and content. We follow quite a few RUclips channels and noone else out there is providing this type of detailed (and fact-based) content. THANK YOU!!! We learn so much from you guys!
Thank you! 😊 ❤️. I think you made John blush. We truly appreciate your support!
You know what they say about Karma! 🤭
Excellent production. You both seem very likable and could be ambassadors for the RV community.
Thank you kindly!
In 2019 I bought a 2001 Minnie Winnie 29' with NO slides with 16,000 miles for $18,000.
It does everything we want and has given us NO trouble.
Be very careful of “lot rot” when buying a RV that has been sitting on a dealers lot for a year or more.
Very good point! Thank you 😊
Lot rot ….. love it helps bring prices down down the end 😮
I just bought some shirts from your store online for my mom’s bday cause she loves watching y’all’s videos and she said the quality is really amazing.
That is awesome! Thank you and tell your mom we said "Hello"
What's not imploding in the industry? More expensive lower quality RVs with crappy warranty service/support to start with. Then there is higher interest rates, cost of RV campground spaces + storage and don't forget the outrageous insurance gouging too!
Price of gas and diesel are up . prices are up for RV. interest rates are up
Poor quality
Warranty problems
No lemon laws to protect buyers you pay big bucks for a machine and nothing but problems and dealerships dont care 19:16
The state of the industry makes me so sad. Feels like it doesn’t have to be as bad as it is; especially when it comes to prices and service. 😢 Wonderfully informative video. Thanks for sharing with us! 🎉
It saddens us as well. We want more people to RV but no one wants to spend $$$$ on a poor quality product. Thanks for watching and your support.
@@AmpedtoGlamp We will be going with Newmar,
I was chatting to a manufacturer rep about 6 months ago (these folks only make class c’s) and he was saying that their sales were slowing, class A sales were effectively dead, and trailers were really in trouble.
Thank you! 😊. Yes, the deals are here but I wouldn't want to buy one.
Riveting! Well done. Just subscribed.
Thank you! Appreciate the sub!
Thanks for your insight, great information.
Love you guys, take care.
Thank you! 😊
Great insights, thanks for sharing!
Also I’ve been checking around at RV parks it difficult to even get a place to park. I also heard that some RV parks won’t allow units that are older.
Some resorts may have the 10 year rule but state and national parks welcome RVs of just about any age. Also some will let you send a picture to demonstrate upkeep.
I’m not surprised. They need to put a lemon law in place because the industry has gone to crap.
Yes! We agree!
It cracks me up that some of these dealers think that 30% discount on a '23 is a "blow-out" sale. 😂🤣
IMHO, part of the reason for slow sales is the bad attitude of the manufacturers towards the consumers when they have warranty issues.
Anything new is nothing but a box towable box of issues.
so true!
The Sprinter Van is Superior to anything out there and there are plenty of self build videos on YT that will do a superior job !! Save your money for better things in life !!
There cant be many asset classes that depreciates faster and harder than RVs.
So true!
Boat owners might disagree.
Biggest factor to decrease market is travel has changed. More people are utilizing flying and cruises. We just purchased our 2nd Super C and quality has been better but we are also looking at cruises and utilizing our passports.
That's a good point. We have changed the way we travel. Did you pick up your new rig yet?
@@AmpedtoGlamp oh yes video coming soon I promise 😂
Can't wait to see it!
@@searchingwhilesupercing1333I subscribed. I wanna see it.
We agree! Dusting off our passports in a couple days but we still love camping.
come on it started in 2007, when they decided Class A would be 6 figures and you could take out 10 yr or more loans.
Our family is finding it more difficult to make reservations at Florida campgrounds. They often have to go out one year to get what they seek.
Yes! That would make for interesting research. Thanks!
Thank you. Wow. Good work. Thanks again 👋🙂
Thank you! 😊
You are correct, The big covid rush to make and sell really brought on poor poor quality.
2020-2024 are the worst built RVs. But it also sounds like the owner may not be making repairs either.
Very good points!
@kristensalter4433 That's awesome!
Love following your updates
Thank you!
Quality Pays, famous book. We own a pre-COVID Newmar and I am very happy with it. Now they offer „great discounts“ on inflated MSRP‘s - nope!
I've heard in the forums that Newmar quality is dipping. As a Newmar owner have you heard anything?
Quality in this industry is horrible. Buying an RV would be a stupid economic decision
Very true! And yes it's a depreciating asset. However I would mind it if the quality matched the price.
The warranty start counting right after the manufacturers date, so say bye to your warranty when it sits on the dealers lot.
My husband is an RV Service Manager. He will not buy one. We have an old 2006 pull trailer with a large slide. Heavy as all get out but no problems.
You know it's bad when someone who works with RVs won't touch one.
Very informative video
You guys are good. Good info. (or maybe bad info )
Thank you! 😊
Problem is cost is much, much higher than people’s ability to pay. 200k is not even realistic. 50k is realistic…
Cost is unbelievable
The build quality in the last 5 years has gone down the drain. The larger companies that have bought out the small ones are taking months to years if you have a problem. If I buy again it will be used and 5-10 years old.
All industries. People that can afford RVs and other recreational items like boats, offroad toys etc are being layed off at record levels. Real inflation is about 25% people need basic items like food and housing. Every other products will decline in sales.
That's true. Our economy is very fragile right now. And people are looking to spend on the bare necessities.
What was the price difference between the 25 and the 2 year old one ?
@@sarahann530 We switched manufacturers and ended up with Coachmen Nova. So I can't compare apples to apples for you. However, we priced a 2025 that was the same model as the 2023 and it was about 13k higher if I recall
@justme-ll8qs How did you determine the lithium was discharging too fast ?
@@sarahann530 Actually it wouldn't hold a charge. Dropped to critical ASAP after being fully charged. Maybe it would be okay but I'm so new at this I didn't want to take a chance.
@justme-ll8qs So it was the battery that was dodgy not the RV .
Getting a used unit known for quality is the way to go!
Just asking, could it possibly be because of the direction this administration is focused on cutting back on gas operating vehicles but to focus more on electric ?
It's like the perfect storm with so many different things compounding.
My Scamp Trailer has a back order of 14 months😂😂..
I've heard good things about Scamp!
Thank you for sharing.
Our pleasure!
dang, wish I had waited to have bought my new class A...ugh
Instead of “decontenting” they should up their game on amenities and quality. Plus, the interior designs of grandma’s kitchen and den are dated and not what customers want.
And the swirly clown car exteriors!
Agreed!
Yes, grandma interiors and little boy toy car exteriors.
The fault also lies with the consumer. I don't know how many YT videos I've watched where someone has complained about screws falling out, but then says "I can live with it." Or doors falling off the hinges, followed by "but I can live with that."
You repeatedly let the manufacturers know that you'll accept junk and, so, that's what they've given you.
That's the way to do it. What a great find!
I’m in the market for class B and prices are way too high
Big Boo hoo to the manufacturers, give the consumers a better quality for their money. Plus you have a dumb bell president that has run this country into the ground!!!!😢
The build quality on my 2021 Forest River FSX 280 RT is buy far the worst RV we have ever owned. ( we have had 4)
That is so sad to hear.
The RV Market was caused by the Industry. Greed, poor quality merchandise, bad service. The list goes on.
They tapped out the market. They build junk. Interest is to high. Gas is to high. National parks are full. Most if not all camp grounds are raising the cost so its not that affordable anymore...especially for the income challenged family where camping is (was) thier only vacation. Greed from nuts to bolts.
so true!
That is us!
No slide outs can fail if there are no slide outs.-lol
I feel too cramped with no slide outs. Camping is a blast
I think that's why so many of us are out there despite the condition of our RVs.
@@AmpedtoGlamp Thank you, see you soon out on the road...
Low quality and poor customer service. The service part is why I ordered my trailer from a local family owned dealer. That was the best decision I made in the whole process.
So many benefits buying from a small local business.
50% off 2023 MSRP is 50% off of a fake number
So true!
People are just getting smarter not buying home on wheels, its only going to get worst.
I was at boe today. What service you getting and do they do good work on your Tiffin we're about get Tiffin also is why I ask.
We have a Bounder and yes they've done a great job on our rig. We've gotten mostly maintenance.
People are getting hip to those SHODDY CONTRACTS about LEMON-LAW, COURT-JURISDICTION, and WARRANTIES!
So true!
So true!
They inflated prices and made massive profits. Now with prices are declining why would they go bankrupt and not just take less (Normal) margin Again?
That's a good question. 🤔
Won't they be too old to be allowed to park in many RV parks before they are paid off?
We've been traveling for three years and haven't come across an age restricted park yet.
We have. Many are in Flordia. So far we have gotten in because the rig is in good shape.
Thank you. You both know your stuff. I'm not so fortunate in to know such stuff. If you happen to have a moment could you let me know if a Jayco 30z is worth the effort? It's my dream and I'm not sure if to sell to buy a motorhome is wise.
I think the Entegra version of the 30Z is better built. Look for a good used one. And be sure to get an inspection by a certified inspector.
Low quality bad service high interesr rate deakers tlraising the MSRP and saying its a good deal. Kind of tired of it
Begin rant here:
$crew them!
Everything you wrote is the truth and it saddens me that the RV industry is driving away future RVers like you.
Need to put a stop to alll the anti RV laws.
Spot on!
True.
Thanks
I don’t want to see people lose their jobs but……the RV industry needs to either change or go out of business
what they have to do is to stand for their products for 5 years meaning their quality needs to go up
There’s still 2022 s new on the lot !!
Wow! 😮
