I love the parenting book suggestion and about the neighbors. I am in my mid forties. I grew up with knowing all our neighbors wherever we lived and had community. I grew up without internet and phones. It came when I was in my twenties. We didn’t have cell phones for most of my children’s growing up. It was so good for us! I love two other books- An Unhurried Life by Alan Cross And Switch on Your Brain by Caroline Leaf
The neighbor books are life changing! My husband and I have moved five times in 12 years and every time we have moved we’ve started a small front yard garden. Something for us to enjoy and something for sharing. It doesn’t take long before you get to know your neighbors and they become friends. Plants, food and good conversation always make people feel welcome. Thank you for your recommendations Madi! So excited to get reading them. 🎉
Super loved this video! Thank you for the recommendations. I've not read any of them. Probably the most life changing books I've ever read are very much faith based (Catholic), but I can definitely tell you what RUclips channel has been the most life changing for me! Yours! Without a doubt. I've been decluttering and minimizing and changing my life (we have a huge farm and huge family and huge clutter) for a year now. Your channel was exactly what I needed to get started.
I was desperately needing a new reading list and I am specifically looking for some books about Jesus as person and not as a religion. Thanks and I love you lots and have been following you for a year or so. you are the only videos I ever watch.
New subscriber, Mama of 3 i have binged your whole profile! have had to minimise our stuff to start travelling Australia and your channel has helped me soooo much. slow living is 1000% where its at for happy healthy children, and parents xx
I don’t think I have ever commented on a youtube video but I have to comment on this one. I found your channel a few days ago through your video about Italy and have watched a few more of your videos since. I kept thinking “I feel like this girl is a Christian, like that would make sense” and THEN you pull out one of my favorite books by my favorite author! I love the Ruthless Elimination of Hurry. Anywho, I love the intention and thoughtfulness behind your content. Definitely something that adds value.
Just bought and started reading The Ruthless Elimination of Hurry. Only on page 12 but absolute love this book and it is already completely speaking to my weary soul!! Thank you for sharing the title! 💗
I just found your channel last week and I have been watching all your videos! You are so inspiring!!! I've made some changes already thanks to you! So glad I subscribed and saw this today... I am a Christian and a big reader so I've added these to my list. Thank you for presenting yourself to us exactly as you are. The world needs more people like you.💜
Thank you so much for these great recommendations. I’m still de cluttering. Still working on ways to reconnect with my feelings and why I do the things I do. One step at a time, but I can tell you that just getting rid of material things is a good start. ❤ Absolutely love you!! 😊
Wow, i started reading the empwered wife after you siggested it. I did not think one book could have such a huge impact on my relationship in such a short time. Within a week of implementing some of the intimacy steps my relationship has gotten so much happier (we were good before the book). Also i feel like i am letting so much things go which i have been holding onto for so long. Thank you for suggesting!!!! X
Same! I didnt realize how much effort I was putting into trying to control everything including my husband to do things the way I wanted. And we also have a lovely marriage but this has brought back the intimacy I didnt realize I had started to lose. It’s such a relief to start relaxing and stop feeling responsible for everything. Honestly I think it may be the most important book I will ever read.
Thank you! I have been a huge bookworm ever since I was a child. Fiction has always been my passion. (especially children's books, I adore well-written middle-grade books!!) However, your video really convinced me to expand my tbr list and start listening to or reading some non-fiction books for a change!
Thank you for this video! I’ve read The More of Less and almost done with Essentialism. I’m adding some of these on my Amazon. Excited to read some of these. I love Jesus too ❤
Yes! The video I've been waiting for!! Already read 'Simplicity Parenting' and 'No Such Thing As Bad Weather' (books you've mentioned in past videos) and loved them both SO much. Can't wait to check out these new recommendations.
I think I have read the Joshua Becker book (I know I have read one of his books). HOWEVER, I haven't read a lot of these (and it is probably time to re-read the Joshua Becker book). So, I put a lot of these books on my Library TBR.
So grateful for your list of books & I love everything on your channel! Your lifestyle is very peaceful & inspiring! I also love Changes that Heal and Dr. Henry Cloud! Ruthless elimination of hurry was really good too - I’m excited to give some of your other recommendations a try! Thanks for your content!
We are such kindred spirits in our most life-changing books. Just finished rereading The Ruthless Elimination of Hurry for like the tenth time, and the Lord just keeps taking me a layer deeper every time! Random, weird Q--do you use something on your hair to give it those gorgeous highlights? Or is that just all thanks to all that wonderful sunshine?? :)
So happy to see you included ‘Changes That Heal’ . My most life changing book/ course is ‘Boumdaries’ by Cloud and Townsend and ‘Mom Factor’. All their material is so good and helpful.
No Bad Kids is SO good. I read it when my older two were toddlers. Thanks for the reminder! Now that I have another toddler I think it’s time for a refresh. Added the rest to my reading list. Thank you!❤️
This is an awesome book list!! Two more I thought of that would go with this list is "Simplicity Parenting" by Kim John Payne and "Radical Homemakers -Reclaiming Domesticity from a Consumer Culture" by Shannon Hayes. ❤
Currently reading the Alice Waters book and loving it! It would be awesome if you could start a book club with your favorite books, maybe on Goodreads?
Added so many of these to my Audible list and other TBR spots, these all sound incredible! I'm currently reading The Mission of Motherhood by Sally Clarkson and it is radically changing the way I've envisioned my parenting journey (I have an 18m old and due in a few weeks with baby #2). Im most excited from your list to read digital minimalism and the empowered wife ❤
I love many of these books and can't wait to read the rest. I'd add The Simple Path to Wealth by J L Collins, and The Millionaire Next Door by Thomas Stanley. Both are simple, clear, no b.s. books on money I'd recommend to anyone. Thanks for sharing your faves!
What always surprises me is driving through my neighborhood and seeing people's garages completely packed full of stuff that you can't even move within the garage. Mind you, I live in a neighborhood that most houses are 4-5 bedrooms and over 2,000 square feet. I am always curious, if their garage is that full with that much space, how full is their house? It always gives me anxiety. Before my decluttering journey, I just never had rooms packed of stuff. I can't imagine.
Great recommendations! Added a few to my TBR lists. Have you read Effortless by Greg McKeown? I didn't enjoy Essentialism very much, because I was already years into my minimalism journey when I read it. However, Effortless is definitely my favorite Greg McKeown book! Loved Digital Minimalism, too, but Effortless came at the right time to help me make some big shifts in my life.
I forgot all about effortless! I actually loved that one too! I might have included that one instead had I remembered it! haha sometimes it's hard to remember books when you return them to the library :) Thanks for reminding me!
@@MadisunGray Oh yay! I'm glad to hear you enjoyed it! I completely understand having a hard time remembering the books you read. It's a real struggle for me sometimes.
I loved this video and all of these recommendations! Digital Minimalism and Essentialism were my first exposures to minimalism, and my husband and I have been working towards decluttering our home as well as decluttering our schedules / time ever since. I just got The Ruthless Elimination of Hurry and I am really looking forward to reading that one!
Yay! Last video I watched with my 3 year old daughter at 11 pm while de-stemming 10 lbs of strawberries together for smoothies! This time: MANGOS. We are here for this!
I’m just finishing up Habits of the Household by Justin Whitmel Earley and it is AMAZING!!! If you haven’t read it yet 😊 And The Ruthless Elimination of Hurry is my next read 😇
Another book I’d recommend is one I read recently: A Still and Quiet Mind by Esther Smith. Thank you so much for all of the book recs! This was such a simple and lovely video 😊
Thank you :) Do many new ones for me to read. Absolutely, love Dave Ramsey. We have been on our debt free journey for 4 years and finally seeing us getting closer to a debt free lifestyle. You may also like courageously simplified (in) courage book a dayspring community. It's a Bible study that can be done by yourself or small group setting.
I like Joshua Becker. I watch his RUclips videos. I'm going to read Digital Minimalism. I've reduced a lot of tech to simplify my life but I'm sure there will be some nuggets of information that I can still apply. Dumbing Us Down and Changes That Heal will also be added to my list.
that is a great question, I feel like it's mostly suggestions from friends or podcasts that I really like! I use audible too and have an ongoing wishlist/reccomendations based on what I like so that helps too!
I love these, a few of my favorites (the empowered wife, no bad kids, get your life back, and womanly art of breastfeeding) and a few I haven’t read yet!! Thanks ❤ Side note: where did you get your hammered disc ring? 😊
I love this list because I have only read about four of these and now am interested in reading several that you told about! I hope to read some of them this year (been reading a lot while nursing in the middle of the night, using my kindle). I also love Joshua Becker's books ("The Minimalist Home" is my favorite of his). HIGHLY RECOMMEND: Raising Good Humans: A Mindful Guide to Breaking the Cycle of Reactive Parenting and Raising Kind, Confident Kids by Hunter Clarke-Fields
I’ve been a huge fan of Janet Lansbury for years. I’ve read her books as well. She changed the way I parent and I’m forever thankful for her. It’s nice to see a RUclipsr recommending her. ❤
I love your videos, they've changed my life. I've read some of these books because of you and can't wait to try the rest! I second Simplicity Parenting by Kim John Payne that others have mentioned. I also think you would love Hold On to Your Kids by Gordon Neufeld. It's blowing my mind! 🩷
Madisun! If you like no bad kids, I think you would probably love the connected families podcast! It’s faith based but incorporates brain science too, it’s so good🤌
What books did I forget? let me know 👇🏼
Kim John Payne: Simplicity Parenting 😊
And In Praise of Slow
Designed to last, in praise of slowness, and a little book of hygge i also love!
My top 5 would be: simplicity parenting, the end of dieting, living well spending less, peaceful parent happy kids, and soulful simplicity
I love the parenting book suggestion and about the neighbors.

I just finished In Praise of Slowness and recommended it to my boyfriend. It was sooo good!

I highly recommend reading the surrendered wife AND the empowered wife. I CANT SAY ENOUGH about how this book changed my life.

I love books and have just ordered several of your favourites, cannot wait to read them. Thank you Madisun 💕
❤️
Thank you for this video❤
The more of less is defitnely the best minimalism book out there, and I've read them all. I love how he intertwines faith with minimalism too!
I’ve read most of those. We must have very similar tastes! I ordered simplicity parenting from thriftbooks to read next. 🙌🏼
SO MUCH YES~~~ Love this
I think I have read the Joshua Becker book (I know I have read one of his books). HOWEVER, I haven't read a lot of these (and it is probably time to re-read the Joshua Becker book). So, I put a lot of these books on my Library TBR.
