Those UMD drive door screws are useless 🤦🏻♂️ Keep it coming w/ the PSP content, I’m about 30 PSP’s into a lot of 50 but still love watching PSP content 💯💯
Hey man, i just recently found your channel and i really appreciate the content you're putting out to keep the PSP community going! You've definitely earned a sub! Yesterday i replaced the power switch on my 3000 and it seems to be working fine now. However, i do feel like the loading times are a little longer than i remember. Any solutions or possible advice you might have for this? Thanks again for all the videos!
It’s hard to tell what loading times are normal if you’re not used to what is. I’d suggest lightly wiping the umd drive lens and checking your game disc for smudges or residue that may have accumulated. You can always replace the umd drive if nothing else gets it loading quick enough.
I just found my brother's psp, he's been gone for 10 years. The battery plate was blown out because the battery expanded. Im going to buy a new battery to see if it still works.
How long does you battery 🔋 last?.I got a battery recently, and when i charged it to 💯 % it said about 6 hours but after only 10 minutes of playtime it said 4:22...I need a reliable battery
I got a psp 1001 for $50 but no charger. It’s in pretty good condition. The battery drains a little fast but still somewhat acceptable. I decided to buy a third party charger and battery but the battery drains fast and the charger end is a bit long and fits tight.
I bought a 3000 from a local game store and unfortunately the drive was LOUD, thankfully I brought it back after giving it a day or two to see if it went away with no luck. I instead got a PSP GO and just found my brothers old 2001 Star Wars PSP so I can use the UMDs I bought.
What a hit of nostalgia! I used to have a white Darth Vader edition psp 2000 that I hacked to the next dimension back when I was like 13 haha. Just got a steam deck couple weeks ago how far handheld have come
You mentioned checking for long load times. What does this tell you exactly if it takes a while to load??? My PSP takes a while but so did the one in this video
It would tell you if the umd drive laser is going out and will need to eventually be replaced. Load times will vary depending on the game, which is why I use the same game to test all of my systems so I have a frame of reference for how long it should be
If you play on a ds then you will not be used to the umd spinning it kinds vibrates on my hands but overtime i got used to but overtime the umd will stop reading umd cause of dust and the annoying part is dust under the screen
Where are you purchasing psp 300 from? I been wanting one lately I want to collect games for it but I don't know where to get one. Dk oldies would work and look good but are expensive and everywhere else feel sketchy or looks wirn
Most sellers on eBay would be good options. Just look for sellers with 99.4%+. Gogogadgets doesn’t have the best quality control though. Ev2hemi is good, but there’s always the chance that an issue can develop. eBay give you the money back guarantee if the item isn’t as described or doesn’t work correctly. DK and amazon are heavily overpriced for the level of quality control. Most sellers on Amazon just drop ship from eBay sellers anyway
Those are usernames. Pretty much anyone with 99%+ positive feedback will be decent options. The 100% are usually due to having feedback protections from accepting returns (including buyer’s remorse reasons). Is there a certain color/model that you’re interested in?
Hi Blake, can you possibly answer a question of mine on a fault on an error message I’m getting when turning on my PSP? If so great, how do I get in touch? Regards, Andrew
@@blakeblundell9001 Hi, it's 'cant connect to USB' error after initial start up & then after XMB loads on screen. When on the XMB it automatically keeps selecting USB connection from menu without me pressing X. But there definitely isn't a button jammed as when I turn off & on again, it loads up my games & all buttons & d-pad respond as they should. Thanks
@@hurricane7727 that's unfortunate, even if i don't plan on using the disk drive at all haha but i'm having a hard time planning when to buy all of the things, so that i can test them all within the return period. which is why i'm sticking with my DSiXL for now lol
Those 2 screws (that I think you’re referring to) are just to prevent you from being able to remove the umd door without having to take the whole system apart. Basically so that you’d have to tamper with the warranty seal to gain access. The long slim screw always ends up busting the left umd door hinge it seems with enough use. I’ve yet to find a good supplier for replacement umd doors, but I hold out hope
@@blakeblundell9001 Does the drive become completely unusable in that case? Can it still be closed? Does a replacement drive fix the issue? I have a 1000 which is over 15 years now, don't want to break the seal and disassemble it, but considering if it will save my baby in the future.
The umd door will still be able to close, but it can be shifted around a bit at the left hinge. It’ll still mostly stay in place and not have issues latching
You must be referring to the umd door, and it’s super common for the door to bust at the left hinge. There are 2 screws inside of the psp whose only purpose is to prevent the umd door from being removed, and they are the reasons why the door breaks
I recently created a website for PSP parts, systems, and custom builds:
everythingpsp.com/
i was going to buy a psp from a seller i found on Facebook and your guide really helped, thnx a lot !
Awesome video I was feeling nostalgic and got one from ebay. I’ll be running your tests once it arrives!
A modded vita better tho

You can check if a psp works without the battery! Just plug it into power and try to turn it on.
Fingers crossed.

The loud umd drive is actually a very easy fix:

Set screw warranty tamper/water sticker in battery pack compartment
