I once changed a display on this model, and although it may sound stupid, I reversed the screws and the longer one pierced the display..this time thanks to your video and description of the screws I prevented it from happening, thank you very much!
I love how sony forced their engineers to make us a harder time to dissamble their products. At least it's enjoyable haha. Keep going I'll more than pleased to se the PSP smokey mod
I think they were being extra careful with their first handheld, its not that bad but its also pretty old. 2000/3000 became much simpler in terms of how all the parts are sandwiched together.
Quick tip for tweezers slipping. Dip the tips on an extra set in plasti dip or flex seal. Just make sure to rough up the tip for adhesion and clean in a degreasor or 99% iso before dipping.
That would be the optimal way, I personally would have just threw on some shrink tube, but the idea behind the tutorial accessibility. Not everyone has shrinktube or plastidip laying around.

100% not discouraging you at all, I actually have been wanting to buy plastidip spray or in liquid can form for a while, sadly where im at atm its no where to be found, i tried flexi but found it to suck lol
Awesome video, you convinced me to but a clear shell and try to fix my old psp 1000. Just a question, because I miss the metal clip which holds the R button you remove at 4:28. Can I buy it somewhere? Because I managed to find some missing components from aliexpress and ebay, but not this one
Now that you mention it, I have never seen that part being sold, you can get away without it, you could try to secure it into place with tape on the edge : ) Good luck
@@TotalKommando The button works without the tape, so yeah, that metal piece is not needed. But now I have another problem. I've purchased a new power board. I connected it to the board with the ribbon cable, but when I try to plug the ac adapter and push the switch the system doesn't turn on. If I short some pins near the mechanical switch I can see the green led, but the system doesn't turn on. Could it be defective?

The only thing you will have to worry about is not having a long tip for the right side back screws, otherwise any kit with a good selection of Philips will do just fine. again as long as the tips can reach

Watching this a second time, I'm surprised a video of this quality has less than 1000 views! I got 2 questions: Can i use triggers from a psp 2000 or 3000 on the 1000 model? I can only find triggers in black for those 2 newer models Also, the silver frame that goes around the psp, would i be able to remove that after only removing the subframe? Thinking of buying another frame and spraypainting it back to give the PSP an all black look
Yea : ( Triggers no, slim ones will not fit, I will have a video in the future show casing how to paint both the triggers and outline. I too want a black trim for the 1000 lol To avoid breaking anything, remove it after you remove the motherboard and power switch board. The top trim will be the finicky one

Is that smoke grey/black shell matte? I have one for the 3000 which is glossy and extremely prone to scratching. Would love to find an after market smoke shell with a matte finish.

try adding a thin piece of tape on the ribbon, it may need extra pressure or its just defective : |

Yea, sadly its no longer being sold, I bought it year ago, and now I gotta repair mine since some of the screw points were weak
