      First time making anything like this. My granddaughter said the first one looked like an oven Mitt. 😢 I learned how to crochet when I was about 10. 2 Christmas's ago I decided to " try" to make slippers. YAH OKAY??!! LOL I ended up making really bad snowflakes. I've learned A LOT over the 2 years. RUclips has been a great teacher. These oven sized mittens may not to be the best. But I guarantee the next ones will be better.
      Thank you for this tutorial

    Finally! I've never been able to make a pair of mittens that didn't have the holes around where the cuff and thumb attach. Your tip about always going through two strands of yarn to attach the cuff, and doing those decreases around the thumb solved both my problems. I am starting a second pair. This is a great and simple pattern, thank you so much!

    I can’t tell you how many times I have tried a pattern to make mittens for a friend only to trash them and look for another pattern. I am soooo happy with your pattern and instructions! They turned out near perfect (;I’m kind of a perfectionist with gifts) and I will use it again and again! Thank you!,,,,

    I crochet every other winter or so and have to teach myself all over again. Back in my day, if you didn't know someone who crocheted, you taught yourself from a book. Technology is wonderful when it comes to these sorts of things and your video tutorials are stellar! Thank you for saving me so much time and for my lovely new, made- by- me mittens!

    I just want to thank you for your video. I have been struggling with my technique and tension and overall crochet skills beyond afghans, hats and scarves. Many times people expect that a crocheter can just whip up matching gloves/ mittens to an already wonderfully made hat and scarf...not so for me until now. After I successfully made your mitten I immediately purchased the pattern and am now filled with confidence I didnt have before. Thanks so much. I was almost readt to give up after so many tries, and diff ppl's techniques. Thanks again!!

    The first time I ever tried making mittens! You made it so easy. I'm more of a visual learner, if I can see someone doing what I want to learn I'm usually successful. I'm 66 and finally felt brave enough to try something that wasn't just a straight line. I made a lovely pair of wool mittens for my cousin who lives in Maine for her birthday, she'll be needing them soon. Thank you so much for going slow enough to follow and giving clear and concise directions, you're an excellent teacher! Have a blessed day!😊❤🐈‍⬛

It was difficult to start at first and I found that the Playback Speed setting really helped me capture a moment I was confused on. When making the thumb, is the bottom side, you just go through the front loop, but on top side the decreases and crocheting go through both top loops? Thanks in advance, sorry I tried to word it the best I could. lol. It's a nice mitten, I've made one so far now.

    • @sharonsparks1115
      @sharonsparks1115 Год назад +1

      I agree. When you are describing the decreasing necessary to get the thumb started, sometimes you put the hook through just the front loop of the stitch, and sometimes you put the hook through both loops of the stitch. It's never explained why the decreases are different. I just had to watch carefully over and over again to copy what you did.

    Question, are these actually warm, since they are crocheted with a bigger needle, hence more chance for air to get through? love the look, but wanted to check before making, thsnks!

    • @JustBeCrafty
      @JustBeCrafty  2 года назад +1

      Hi there! It really depends on where you live! I live in North Carolina and these are plenty warm for me but if you live in a colder climate I would suggest to do one of two things:
      - double up on your yarn and crochet two strands at a time
      - switch to a wool yarn
      Either of the two suggestions will help, or you can do both and maximize your warmth!

    When you’re doing the wrist, you don’t chain up right? You just do a stitch and continue?

      When you’re doing the cuff, and after you’re done doing the back, you’ll chain two, and once you’re finished, chain two and so on til you reached 16 or your desired number.

    This looks really easy! I have a question…. How long did it take you to make it?

    • @JustBeCrafty
      @JustBeCrafty  2 года назад

      Hmm, good question! I didn’t time myself but I estimate it to be about a 2.5 - 6 hour project from start to finish depending on how fast you crochet.

      How can I adjust pattern to make a little bigger? The cuff fits but the mitten feels a little tight. I have small hands.

    Why did you pull some stitches before you began the decrease? It happened after you readjusted your stitch markers.

    Do you have a child version of this pattern for a 3-5 year old?

    • @atadbitahistory9660
      @atadbitahistory9660 Год назад +1

      I imagine you could make a similar version and just scale it down, like, instead of making such big parts you could see what fits your child and build it off of that
