    I'm surprised he didn't leave more foliage on the bottom branches to encourage thicker bottom branches resulting in branch taper towards the top

    • @Bonsaifly
      @Bonsaifly  3 месяца назад

      It’ll be done over time. The lowest branch actually has a ton of foliage

    It's so weird, how such a ruthlessly brutal process results in something beautiful. And why is it even beautiful to us? It's not a cultural thing. People all over the world see the beauty in Bonsais. Why *does* this look more beautiful to us, than just a healthy, naturally grown little tree 🤷🏻‍♀️

    • @Bonsaifly
      @Bonsaifly  5 месяцев назад +8

      Great comment actually. Most people just hate because of the process. Please note, that this is the single most invasive event that happens in a Bonsai‘s life and will only have to be done once. After this it’s mostly pruning, fertilizing, watering and putting on the occasional wire. As for why this looks more beautiful to us than a regular small tree: Bonsai evokes within us the feeling of looking at an aged, rugged tree as you would perhaps find in a mountain scene, when taking a high altitude hike (for this particular Bonsai, that was the feeling I was going for). The beauty comes from recognizing age by aspects of the tree like deadwood, that tells a story of what was and is no longer, yet remains in a changed way. Same goes for the elongation of branches that have been shaped by the wind and surface roots that cling on to the mountain side to anker the tree against the forces of nature. These are things Bonsai tries to convey and as such there is much beauty to be found.
      Sorry if this is long AF, but I think it was a fair question.

    What kind of juniper Is this
    Chinesis?

    • @Bonsaifly
      @Bonsaifly  3 месяца назад +1

      It’s a chinensis variation called Blauuw, I’d say this chinensis is the most often found variation in plant nurseries around my area
