I am desiring to start bonsai . I feel excited! I am thinking about using the spikey ball tree from hell thats in my front yard first! SweetGum Tree! Also my friend gave me some Giant Sequoia seeds from his property. I dont know thatll work out.

Que bien detallado el video solo vi esto en algunos libros me gusto mucho lo quiero probar con un olmo chino desde un acodo aereo pero por los comentarios que lei no se si tendré éxito pero es el único material disponible por ahora sube mas vídeos y muestra la evolución de este ejemplar gracias

great job. i was thinking that if the center was dug out a little more instead of leaving it flat, the base of the new branches would have a bit more room to swell towards the center and leave less of a bump on the outer part.

Nice. Slow and steady wins the race. I have a similar project elm in my garden I will document one day. Unfortunately I didn't have the foresight to capture the early stages like you did.

Both very informative and entertaining. I imagine that I would have placed something like wax or bonsai paste on the top cut to keep it from cracking and creating a hollow space in the truck. But, apparently, you haven’t found that to be necessary. Great video!

That was a very useful tutorial. The English translation was clear. 👍🏼 Would that method work with North American (native) elms and Chinese elms which are both readily available to me as seed drop?
Hi, I'm glad you understand. I honestly haven't tried it. Only by intuition I think that with Chinese Elm it should work. A big hello!
there's a lot of winged elm in my woods, so that's what I've been experimenting with. while you're waiting for your seedlings to grow/ find a nice yamadori/ find a branch to airlayer, you could chop a couple wild growing ones of various sizes to see how the budding response will be.

De verdad que interesante la formacion a detalle para este estilo, que para mi resulta muy complejo por la ramificacion que debe lograr. La verdad lo he intentado y no lo he conseguido. Ya me anime a intentar uno nuevamente. Con el ulmus parvifolia fue con el q trabajaste?? Saludos desde Panamá
Hola, Carlos, trabajé con el ulmus minor. en unos 2 o 3 años estimo que lo tendré ramificado como lo quiero. No es tan difícil la técnica. Hay que tener paciencia para no apurarse y hacer las cosas a su tiempo. Saludos desde Bs. As. Argentina.

Una consulta, para los Cerezos Japoneses Prunus Serrulata Kanzakura, Kanzan o Pissardi, sabes si se los puede podar sin problemas para crear una copa más frondosa? He leído por ahí que dicen que no resisten la poda. Harán referencia a poderlo mucho o las ramas necesarias cómo vos haces?

Your work on that tree is paying off. Its a strong beautiful lil elm tree. I do take issue with the flat element you used. Did it have to be Metallica??? Couldnt you have used an eninem l, niki minaj or barry manilow cd?😎

Great job with the tutorial. I feel that the first cut could have been on an angle so that the branches didn't all start at the same height, it would also have allowed for water runoff and prevented rot in the middle.

That's right friend. If it hasn't swelled until now, I don't think it will swell anymore because from now on the clamping work keeps the vigor at bay. Greetings.
