Why would CBS put their #1 team on a game between two teams with a combined 1-7 record? Eagles / Steelers seems a no brainer.
Since CBS did not have a National Game that weekend they covered the Giants game. NBC carried the Steelers - Eagles matchup. Back then CBS had the NFC and NBC the AFC. In the case of interconference games the visiting team dictated the network.
@mediadugout2684 read the schedule wrong. Thought the game was in Pittsburgh. Thanks for taking the time to respond. Love your channel, takes me back to simpler,better times.
