Many test pilots died testing the Komet, as the fuel system often ruptured and exploded, and the fuels quite literally melted and burned the pilot alive and I would imagine the Japanese had similar issues testing their version, the J8M

Japanese tend to be PRACTICAL in their designs, while OCCASIONALLY made something like the back propeller J7W Shinden (0:27) that looks like a standard propeller plane going backwards. I kid you not, the agility of that plane is second only to the well known ZERO.

I think the range of fighters and bombers is worth mentioning. In particular, a Type 2 flying boat can fly 8,200 km at a time. In point of crazy, not to forget the Ki 109 with a 75mm anti-aircraft cannon.
