    Hey thanks for talking time to teach others knowledge really is power. Im a beginner videographer and i have my first music video shoot coming up so this helps! My question is do you shoot the majority of your shots using manual or auto focus when dealing with 1 subject? And the same question for multiple subjects?

    • @RoyalZProduction
      @RoyalZProduction  3 года назад +4

      It’s the same for single or multiple subjects! I only film in manual focus and always have for the last 4 years of being a full time filmmaker. Reason being is to eliminate any auto focus hunting that could potentially ruin a shot or moment. I find I just have more snappy control over focus pulling than manual. It’s definitely a learning curve but an experienced manual shooter will always out perform an auto focus filmer. Especially once you eventually hit the cinema camera route, auto focus isn’t even a thing at that level so you’re left with nothing but manual focus

I have a problem I hope you could guide me with...the camera I use can only go up to 1080p shooting in 24fps but can only go 720p when shooting in 50fps...do you think it's wise for me to maybe shoot my brolls in the 50fps even the res is lower than the performance scenes (24fps)?

    • @RoyalZProduction
      @RoyalZProduction  3 года назад +1

      Yes, absolutely downscale the res to 720 for your Broll. This will help you achieve slow motion clips, therefor adding a new 'look' to your videos and making it more dynamic. Downscaling is fine. For now. Gotta use what ya got!!

    • @RoyalZProduction
      @RoyalZProduction  2 года назад +1

      If you were to film at a high shutter speed this. 1/60 in 30fps, you’d want to double your shutter to 1/125, then double that to 1/250. If you are filming in 24fps, you start at 1/50 shutter, double that to 1/100, then once again to 1/200!

    Does Final Cut Pro slow down for you when you edit with 24 fps and 60 fps? I saw in your ebook you edit with Final Cut Pro! I use Premiere Pro but I'm contemplating leaving Premiere Pro.

    • @RoyalZProduction
      @RoyalZProduction  3 года назад +1

      In 4k it definitely does haha. Premiere Pro in my opinion imports, renders, exports slower than final cut but premiere is far superior for colour grading than final cut. I'm hella impatience so I would rather use FCPX due to the fact that it makes me a lightning fast editor and I can bang out projects left right centre.

    Hello hope someone can reply. When he says he shoots the whole performance scene from beginning to end, does he mean he shoots the whole song continuously or shoot each verse and hook separately but in order?

    • @RoyalZProduction
      @RoyalZProduction  2 года назад +2

      Hey! Great question. So, by that I meant thag I film my performance scenes each from the very beginning of the song to the very end. The reason I do this is so I have more footage to play with when editing. I very rarely film each hook or verse separately. I always stick to filming from very beginning to very end. I hope this helps!!

    Loving this (and all your other videos, for that matter)!! Weird question, though: when you're doing the "shaky" camera movements during an upbeat performance where the artist's movements are already shaky, wouldn't the additional shaky camera movements create a sort of "shaky overkill"?

    • @RoyalZProduction
      @RoyalZProduction  Год назад

      Yes absolutely you're totally correct. You really have to feel the vibe of the song and match your handheld movement to the artist. if the artist is going borderline overkill with their body/hand movements, dial back the 'shakiness' of you handheld movement. Definitely try not to overdue it and make very small, minor handheld adjustments! Appreciate the love on this tutorial though! Much appreciated.

      @@RoyalZProduction hey man, cool video. I just wanted to share my viewpoint on the camera usage and choices. So I did once have a G9 (easily one of the most affordable, tack sharp 4k30 10 bit 4:2:2 cameras ever) for video. The stabilization, the menus, the codecs, everything was so nice. I loved it. But actually bro, I felt that I would benefit from the super accurate Sony eye tracking in 4k. So I switched to the A7c. And honestly, I really, really like it. Let's not fool ourselves. I heavily miss 4k60, I heavily miss 10 bit, but the AF... That really makes it all worth. It makes it so I don't need to stress about focus pulling alone. I just let the camera latch onto to their face and move however I want. It's freeing, allows wilder movements, and really more freedom and less time to prep shots.
      I hate Sony menus. I hate their rolling shutters. I hate a lot of things about them. But they do a lot for things well, still have good good 4k but not 10 bit, but decent stabilization and very good low light. I would still love a G9/GH5 twin for other reasons though.
      Beginners: note to you that the GH5 will be your best friend for a long time to come. If you are not tied down to needing good AF, it'll serve you forever.
