This is SUPER clever. Basically what's happening here is the accessibilities button at the login screen is changed (using a win10 usb installer) to launch cmd.exe, and then using that the account password can be set or admin account added.
This worked to fix my laptop that had no administrator so couldn't run anything as admin. Thanks for this tutorial!
I did not see your comment until now. Thanks for sharing, I would definitely agree it is one of the more interesting workarounds in the Windows OS, without the need for some questionable 3rd party applications that usually want payment.

if you use the net user administrator active he talks about near the end be sure to also reset your computer after that in order to see the administrator account become visible

Your video although quite complete I do have a question. I'm not to tech savvy so thanks for keeping it simple. But if I understand your correctly, to start, I need to get on a accessible computer, and download the windows 10 creation media to a USB flash drive. Then insert the drive into my "locked" computer and then boot it from the USB flash drive. Then follow instructions from there. . Please let me know if I have the correct beginning process.

first of all thank you very much i got back into my user account through your instructions. i had to enter "net user administrator /active:yes" at the end, because my user account was connected to a microsoftmail. I think I became a victim of a Windows bug or something. How did this happen? I changed my motherboard and CPU from my PC and came into Windows as usual. Then I got a Windows notification that my Microsoft account needed to be repaired and I clicked this button. I had to enter my PIN and everything was fine. But after I restarted my PC it suddenly asked for a PASSWORD and no PIN anymore. That's when the shit went down and I suddenly couldn't get back in. I changed my Microsoft password 3 times but it didn't work, the administrator password which was asked for has nothing to do with it. I tried many things I found in Google but nothing worked. Then I found your video and could create a new administrator. The problem was that I could not change or reset my password from the user account I was trying to access, there was no option to do so. I then switched to my old user by ctrl + alt + del --> change user and then the PIN was asked and I could get back in !! Unbelievable what kind of shit happened to me that took me several hours but fortunately everything is fine now. THANKS FOR YOUR HELP I WILL SEND YOU 5 EURO VIA PAYPAL KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK
and can you do this as a user aswell, so without admin rights??

Worked great!! Thank you! However, instead of using Shift + F10, I used the "Repair Installation", "Troubleshoot", "System Prompt" to make the changes. Now when I log in (which I am able to do, Yay!) the System Prompt window opens up after logging in. How can I turn that off?

Great Video, thank you. At the end of the video when trying to login, I clicked on the user and in the box below it stated "you cannot change the password for this user" anyone know how to get around that?
On the command prompt menu on startup type (net user). The yous should see a built-in administrator account. Try (net user administrator active:/yes) The parentheses indicated the commands you need to type. Type the account name exactly as shown. Let me know if this works.
Until 9.15 everything fine, but then we diverge. I wanted to reset my 'hidden admin' (superadmin) password, and your remaining procedure (even the gist of it 'adapted' to my situation) doesn't seem to get me there. Could you add what I would have to do differently?

I downloaded a software called windows 10 activator. Then my pc starting lag, and every file extension changed to .cadq and I shutted down pc and after restarting I enter my password and it said wrong password then I see many videos but I finally found a helpfull video.

All worked well until the reboot. I opened up the elevated command prompt and entered control userpasswords2. The pop up window never appeared to allow me change the password. I'm running win 10 10.0.143931. Can you help me? BTW a very clear video!

Excellent, worked great. I would add that you first must create the bootable USB flash drive using the media creation utility (Follow the steps on the link to the utility to create installation media (USB flash drive or DVD)). That wasn't entirely clear to me on the video.

Can you tell me how I can unzip the Microsoft download, so that I can do this. Thanks this looks good.
You can download "7-Zip" application, free and simple to use. Once that is downloaded an installed, go to MS zip file that you need to unzip, right click on the zip file and select 7-Zip and follow the directions from there.
