I absolutely love your channel! You are so kind and uplifting! The story about Lorraine’s message in a bottle touched my heart! Have a wonderful day and thank you! 🥰🐿🥜
Hello Nicole, Today I walked along the Rhine with my wife and dog and thought about what you would find here. As a gold panner, my eye is used to seeing completely different things, and metal detecting works differently than mudlarking in my eyes. So if you feel like taking a trip to Germany, you are cordially invited to come and see me. From prospecting for gold to metal detecting to mudlarking, you can do everything here. Your idea of taking the ashes to California was great and brought me to tears. Me too, thanks for that.
Think of all of the wonderful things you've pulled out of the water. None of them compare to the one you surrendered back to it. You *literally* facilitated Lorraine's Dad's passage through the Golden Gate! ❤Safe travels to you both.
I don't know why, but the story of Lorraine's Dad in a bottle brought a little tear to my eye. What a sweet idea that Dad is continuing his journey, thanks to Lorraine and thanks to you. The pieces of history you find aren't the only treasures here on your Tideline Art channel. Good on you Nicola! Bon voyage Dad!
Thanks! I enjoy your videos so much. Here’s $$ to a hot drink after a cold day on the river or a cold drink after a hot day and cheers to Lorraine’s Dad on his travels. May Lorraine find solace that the world holds her and her father in their hearts. 🥰💕❤️👍👍
Love these simplest of larks...you, the river, the wildlife, the finds, the music, the roundup, and Squirrel. Who could ask for more? I liked the Indian coin from 1944, the year I was born. Fortunately, I haven't been floating around in the River Thames for 78 years. Maybe someday. Thank you. So enjoyable.
I love your channel but am especially touched by Lorraine's message in a bottle. I lost my dad last year and love what she did for her dad, one final hurrah!
Thank you for another thoughtfully and personally produced video. So many curious and fun finds and it filled my heart with joy to watch as you helped Lorraine’s dad on his continued journey. I hope the next person to find the bottle is as kind and thoughtful. It is nice to witness such kindness and to know humanity still connects us in this big, giant world. I can’t wait to see where you’ll take us next and what cool little pieces of our past, and present, we might discover together. Happy hunting❤
Such a treat for me to find that you posted a video today. I must admit that I have been checking for a new video daily since your last installment of the Adventures of Nicola White. This one made my day! You are so thoughtful to continue Lorraine's dad's journey and sharing it with us. Not a surprise to those of us who follow you, mind you, but so nice to follow someone who is so endearingly nice in this day and age. Please keep the videos coming. You are a lifeline to me. I am hoping that February will be a good month, as I was born on Valentines Day so many years ago. I selfishly hope that you post a video sometime around the 14th to make my birthday special. LOL. I love to see the mute swans on the Thames and your relationship with them. We have a breeding pair in our local park, with a few of their offspring. When my granddaughter was 2 years old, I was horrified and charmed by a video that my daughter sent me of Olivia actually hugging a swan that good-naturedly went along with her plans. I had heard stories about how absolutely strong and territorial swans can be, but Livs is apparently a swan charmer along with being a grandma charmer. Keep the content coming and cheers from Gallipolis Ohio.
Hi Kathy. Thank you for your kind comment. How lovely to have your birthday on Valentines Day. I shall try to post a video as close to that day as possible! what day is 14th Feb this year? Much Love, Nicola xx
@@nicolawhitemudlark Valentines Day is officially on a Tuesday this year. When I was a kid it seemed magical...I ALWAYS scored the biggest candy heart and birthday presents to boot. Ha ha. But by the time I was an adult I found that trying to celebrate your birthday on the same day the whole world is celebrating love is a little trying. Usually my hubby organizes a restaurant trip the weekend before or after because the restaurants are literally teeming with folks declaring their undying love. Last year found him outside in February grilling me a perfectly prepared steak so maybe again this year. I liked that dinner the best of all.
Some times the smallest things are the greatest treasure….that little plane was very emotive to me. There really is MAGIC in the world you have to just look to find it👍
I live on Vancouver Island. Mushroom picking is a short season where you can make a fair bit of money if you know what you are doing. You really should visit here Nicola; we are a much younger country so not a lot of mudlarking; but it is such a beautiful place, so bring your paints!
Great story about the message in the bottle! It was so sweet of you to contact his daughter and make her day about relaunching the bottle! My mother died a year ago, and my siblings and I are taking her ashes back to our home in Hawaii to be buried with my father, who is buried in the Veterans Memorial Cemetery on Oahu in August. Blessings!!
I've got two of those tiny aeroplanes. One has a pin on the back to make it into a brooch, the other one has no pin. But is obviously meant to be a Spitfire. My dad was an RAF officer in the war, but not a pilot, and these were made by RAF prisoners of war, in prison camps mostly from odd bits of metal, even old coins, and Dad bought a few that were being sold to make money for widows sand orphans immediately after the war.
Although im a detectorist, and am very happy to be finding coins from the past, the finds that really grab hold of me are the personal items, they may not have great value in there make up, but they all have great value in the story they sometimes tell, and they tend to make your mind travel further, and you spend more time thinking about them, than you do coins lost by someone with a hole in there pocket or purse, They belonged to someone, Who were they! There were tokens that were used in the war and after during the Great Depression for receiving rations of food. Such Exciting finds I thoroughly enjoyed watching. Thank you ❤

Hello Nicola, my wife and I love your channel. In one of your videos, you showed part of an item that had a lever, and a semi-circular gadget attached, I don't know if anyone has told you, but this was probably an early 20th-century electricity meter cover. You put a sixpence in the meter, then turned the lever which would push the semi-circle over the coin to stop people from cheating the electricity board. Keep up the good work,
Hello from Oakland! the world feels very small today, and fiendly. In case you come back to the City by the Bay, I wanted to make sure you know about the beach covered in crockery at Point Isabel, in El Cerito/Albany which is in the East Bay. And if you are able to get to Point Pinole, just north of El Cerito, you can see some surviving middens of Ohlone people in the area. I think this is very special as there were thousands of shell mounds around the San Francisco Bay when Americans first arrived in the 19th century, including a 300 foot tall shell mound in Emeryville which was dismantled after a dance hall had been built on top of it. Most of the middens have been destroyed for development, so there may be a mere hundred small ones left. You may already know these places, and if you get a chance to visit them I'm sure you'll appreciate them. Thank you so much for sharing the resolution to the story of "Dad's Ashes" this is really beautiful.
Awe i love a happy ending. Bon voyage Lorraine's Dad. X 😂 that squirrel knows its on to a good thing. I don't think it will be leaving any time soon Nicola. 🤗x
I very much enjoyed Lorraine's Dad's journey and of course your thoughtful, generous role, Nicola. Yes, the pottery piece does resemble a Louis Wain. Benedict Cumberbatch portrayed him in the lovely and ever so heartbreaking movie " The Electrical Life of Louis Wain" A brilliant performance 😪 Nicola, we love your videos, never miss one but(ashamed to say) rarely comment. You are a gem 🥰 Ginny from New Hampshire USA

I luv all of your videos Nicola but this one is so touching thank u for being u also luv the romantic thought that those metal straps may have originally had a sentiment tucked inside.
When my dad died in Australia I kept a little of his ashes and brought them back to Scotland….but I put the rest in Morton bay near Brisbane…….. I thought that then he could go where ever he wanted…. So it was lovey to see Lorraine’s dad travelling away beyond San Francisco 😊
I absolutely love the story about you finding Lorraine's bottle with a note & her father's ashes (some) in it & her sending him on a journey to see how far he gets !!! It's wonderful that you Nicola found the bottle & it was meant to be !!! That was so sweet & loving of you to take him with you to CA & put him back in the water to continue his journey 😊 !!! It brought tears to my eyes & I too have a little urine with some of my mom's ashes & my sister has one too with mom's ashes !!! Thanks Nicola for this beautiful story !!! Squirrel was so cute when you offered her a second peanut & she secured it better in her mouth & reached up with her little paws & took the second peanut 🥜 from you !!! So precious 💕 !!! ❤️🙂
Oh, belated hello from SF. I just discovered a ceramics dump in the East Bay. I go there all the time with my dog and never looked over the berm and down next to the water. Who knew?
Oh Nicola, that really choked me up. So happy for Lorraine and her dad. Thank you for caring enough to do that ... although I guess we all know you well enough by now to expect nothing less. Hi Nicola you have a heart of gold. Id like to say also that when you find something, you often forget to check what is left around your find. Today I saw very interesting objects that you missed. If only I could of told you! Maybe you will find them next time.
I thoroughly enjoy watching you mudlarking. What a gift you are offering to viewers. A chance to go exploring with you. Oh, that I was strong & able. I can't walk or stand, but I sure can bend. Having my spine fused 3 times allows me to do that. I am not who you are looking for, but there are so many places I'd love to see combed thru. The tip of NJ was the home to Native Americans generations ago. Wonderful artifacts turn up all the time along the Delaware Bay where it meets the sea. Thanks again for keeping an old lady happy & focused. Wherever you journey I know it will be interesting & eye opening. Stay safe.

I just absolutely love watching you find such treasures. I used to hunt arrowheads and rocks so I get the satisfaction of seeing your bounty. I live in Washington state USA and morel mushroom hunting becomes a madness here. I love searching and finding them but am probably the only person in my county that actually hates eating them. I've cooked many for others and will pop one in my mouth and I'm done. 😆
The theme of the shard with the cat on the bicycle is a race, it says finish underneath. Couldn't find an exact match but it was a popular theme ca. 1880-1920. Great video, love watching your adventures on the foreshore.
What a wonderfully lovely thing you've done by continuing Lorraine's father's journey. I know this must have really made her day. Especially the timing of your e-mail. It's very rewarding to see people doing small kindnesses for others. Well done you!
Hi Nicola. The story of Lorraine's Dad's ashes is fabulous; well done, and if you're looking for a real challenge, we could search far and wide for the best and cheapest pint of beer in the country! But the pound coin you found. No, that's not old, it's the "new money". I'm, seventy-three and I think I have socks older than that! Thanks again for a wonderful show!
The story of Lorrain's Dad is so moving, you really are a beautiful person Nicola! What a wonderful video, interesting finds and an amazing act of kindness, what else could we possibly want! 😃💗 x
Thank you for sharing the link for the Northern Wild Harvest channel. The first video that I watched was for their mushroom drying set up. In these times of food insecurity, I love to see how others do food preservation. In this era of expensive freeze dryers, electric dehydrators and solar dehydrators it is nice to see a low tech method that utilizes cast off materials. Their set up could also be used for veg, fruit and maybe meat. Peace.
Your correct, we can go into more detail on dehydrating and plan to do a new addition to our dryer. We will release that once the current season is done. The thrill of the hunt, the joy of the finds and the contentment of sharing with others is very similar to mudlarking. A big thank you to Nicola, she is a gem.
Hi Nicola: Just watched this video now. The model plane fragment you found appears to be a De Havilland Mosquito, a very high performing , easily constructed World War 2 multi-role aircraft. British designed and utilized to great success during operations, (incredibly fast, nothing could keep up to it), much of its frame was constructed of wood. As an aside, I've been wild harvesting since 2014. In and around the trails and fields in my area, (St. Catharines, Niagara Region), there's a variety of apple and pear trees. Not many people bother with them, so there's always an abundance during harvest season in the fall. As always, thoroughly enjoying the videos. Thanks Mike from Canada

Thank you for the great follow-up on the message in a bottle. I lost my father 5 years ago and so I know how much this meant to Lorraine that you sent her father's ashes on!!!🥰🥰🥰
Wow…The story of the message in the bottle brought a tear to my eye…There is such a thing as karma, and we just saw it…
There were tokens that were used in the war and after during the Great Depression for receiving rations of food. Such Exciting finds I thoroughly enjoyed watching. Thank you ❤
I think that is awesome that you took Lorraine’s dad to San Francisco. Awesome journey for him!
Message in the bottle was really sweet to hear more about. Thank you for another wonderful journey to the Thames. Hope you have a wonderful week.
Thank you for the suggestion of Northern Wild Harvest!
I’m sitting😊 here and I get so excited every time you pick something up. Imagine if you dug deeper I wonder what you would find. Imagine all the stuff you haven’t seen yet. To pickup history like that is absolutely amazing. Wow if I could be young again and lived in uk I would do that. I love it.
Keep up the good work,
Message in a bottle. Wow. Amazing stuff. I would like to go home again for a holiday. After 60 years.
Castaway or lost - no matter your history of the bits and pieces you find is far more watchable than many a professionally made video - thanks
Thank you Howard!
Awe i love a happy ending. Bon voyage Lorraine's Dad. X
😂 that squirrel knows its on to a good thing.
Such an enjoyable video,as always. I would love to drink tea from the cat race cup,its such a great design. It was so nice of you to help send Lorraines dad on his journey and lovely to know how happy it made her. x
I luv all of your videos Nicola but this one is so touching thank u for being u also luv the romantic thought that those metal straps may have originally had a sentiment tucked inside.
Maybe powdered wigs will come back in style for bald guys like me. Lorraine had to be blown away with what you did with the bottle. Well done Nicola!
Oh what a lovely thing to do! xx
A cat on a bike, and a squirrel at your window; lovely!
The bottle story is wonderful. He led you to the bottle so his daughter received his message from the other side💕
The universe really can be a magical place when you let it, eh? And thanks too for sharing that super cute seal at the end.
apart the finds, just a smile on your face is worth watching this episode
Bon Voyage, Lorraine's Dad!! How special!!!
I love watching your videos and the finds you make in the river Thames. Such a rich host of history you share with us. Thank you so much for sharing your finds with us.
Regrettably I am disabled and unable to travel now so I enjoy watching you outside mudlarking. I look forward to watching your next video. Please take care and stay safe.
What a lovely video and a beautiful act of kindness , it brought a tear to the eye when I saw Lorraine’s reply! Keep up the good work, I know it takes a lot of effort to make good videos.
Thank you ❤️
Such a heartwarming story about the message in a bottle. I hope Lorraine's dad's journey continues.
Tell you what, you are one magnificent human being !
This sure does seem to be the darkest winter I ever recall. Looking forward to long warm nights.
Stay safe.
Nicola, you are one of the most kind, genuine, lovely people in the world! I enjoy everything you post, and I know, without a doubt, it will never be ugly or petty or unkind. We could all take a lesson from you. Thank you for the story of Lorraine’s dad. What a difference you made just by being kind!❤TN Nana

Nicola I enjoyed the story about Lorraine sweet Dad in a bottle.I enjoyed your finds on the River.
The tiny plane reminds me of the WWII song "Coming In On A Wing And A Prayer".
What perfect timing God uses our gifts to fill an empty spot in the heart of another. What an honor and blessing for you. Thanks for sharing.
That squirrel is too adorable, just knock on the door and the food appears.
She has me well trained
Your videos are so thoughtful in music, scenery, descriptions and love.
I live in the mountains of North Georgia. If you ever wish to explore here, we have waterfalls and mining. It’s is a fabulous area with so much history.
This Video brought back memories of my father (died Januar 16 2020) and my grandfather (died Januar 16 1959) Safe journey for Lorraines dad 🚂✈🛳
Nicola, congratulations on 150.000 Subscribers, well done, cheers.
Thanks Eric!
Thank you very much for your program I enjoyed it immensely, having lost my mother in the last few months I watched with interest your story about the bottle and the gentleman and his tour of the world. Suddenly and unexpectedly the tears were flowing fast and free as I found my sobbing. thank you for what you did and for your wonderful channel. I am Lonnie from Vancouver Canada.
Always enjoy seeing the finds. I remember the message in the bottle and whom ever sent their Loved one off to see the world I say God Bless. It’s hard to let go.
Louis Wain maybe?
Thank you for bringing joy and kindness to the internet. It’s so needed
Love that cat on a bike chard, so charming!
The story of Lorrain's Dad is so moving, you really are a beautiful person Nicola! What a wonderful video, interesting finds and an amazing act of kindness, what else could we possibly want! 😃💗 x
What a great story of Lorraine’s Dad’s ashes. So touching. ❤
Hi Nicola:
Just watched this video now.
Thanks
Mike from Canada
Precious gems. Hello from Sarnia, Ontario, Canada
Nicola.. You are nothing more, than a simply ray of sunshine and light on this world.
Wow. Talk about putting a smile on someone's face. It's a great thing you did.
