- For most Southern Nevadans, the town of Beatty is a place to stop to meet its well-known burros on the way to somewhere else. However, the town's iconic animals are becoming a nuisance.

Back in the day Burros were used to carry supplies, water, & machinery to mining camps during the gold rush. But now no one needs them & they treat them like dirt! Just give them some water & food so they can be happy🙄

You can clearly see this ladys hatred comes from what she feels about her husband's retaining wall he built her before he died that burroes destroyed. Missplaced anger and hatred always detour to misery in the end.

I totally agree it’s people just like this that got all of the horses and boroughs removed from Redrock as a kid I used to go out there and I would always see them, but now is an adult that treat is gone forever because of evil people like this lady

They are not native here. They were originally strays abandoned by the gold miners. The burros are from the middle east.

My last visit to Beatty was two years ago and we really enjoyed seeing the burros. They were friendly and polite. We petted them and fed them from the food a shop owner gave us. Of course, I don't live there and deal with everyday, however, I hope they deal with them kindly.

They are literally not strong enough to knock down a REAL Fence. No offense.
Their hooves are hard and sharp. Plus, they run all over the place, day after day. If a fence (low wall, actually) is in the way, they give it the treatment.
The effect is cumulative.
All wild animals need to be managed when their NUMBERS become too great... relocate them away from town... someone's going to end up colliding with one in the middle of the road in their vehicle at night☹ that person could get hurt or even worse💀
Really? Have to go looking for things to do? Set up a feeding station for them a mile out of town. Sheesh.

I guees it's not coincidence - of the 4-5 times I've driven thru Beatty for some other destination, I've always spotted several or more burros in town. They do seem to have taken up residence in that area.

back around 94 they busted a butcher shop in lv for selling tasty burgers made from these friendly critters. Many people just raved about them. they were in business for many years .the owner was arrested. I ate a horse steak in 59, sold by large chain store. real yucky.
