The Shadow King, also known as Amahl Farouk, is a fictional character appearing in comic books published by Marvel Comics. The Shadow King is an entity of pure psychic energy which feeds on a hatred of humanity, manifesting itself by possessing the bodies of humans.

The Shadow King always scared me. The Xmen animated series did his origins pretty good.
RicoSystem watching that episode when he possesses Storms nephew terrified me as a kid and introduced me to the entire idea of possession

Edal Zior It's hard to put into words but as someone who divulges in all superhero TV shows, this is the best superhero show this year by far. The show keeps you guessing, as the audience you try to connect the dots yourself and it's satisfying when you're right and when they pull the rug from under you. It's not afraid to go full-comic mode, which is where it excels. The visuals, music abd varying style each episode keeps it fresh and engaging. But the best thing is the characters. For a show based on Legion the secondary chharacters are just as likeable if not more than David himself. The fact they have managed to fit such a story in eight episodes is fantastic as at this point it should be easy to get through too.

+Edal Zior Character development, visuals, attention to detail especially (keep a look out for wardrobe clues). Plot twists, creepy, weird moments that get you excited, the mystery behind everything to where you have to figure it out yourself. Its possible but you have to watch the episodes very carefully. And Like YoungNation stated, the secondary characters are just great and memorable. The story is so well made and just completely fits, the acting is superb. Even the action when there is some is just great. It will have you rooting for David the whole way through. It's just amazing.
+Edal Zior the writing. It's the best written live action X men thing ever. It gets the comics yet it's original but the acting is also brilliant. Everything is great about it. Everything. 7 episodes in and I've loved every second of it. As a die hard X men fan I've never been happier.
I don't get freaked out easily, but the horror elements of the character in legion definitely made me uncomfortable
The Shadow King is, for me, the CREEPIEST villain EVER!!!
In New X-Men #110+ Xorn restored Xavier's ability to walk, also his ability to walk was restored after his essence was transferred into a new body in Uncanny X-Men #150+. His legs have also been once restored as a side effect of Apocalypse saving him from the Techno Organic virus so... Take your pick
Or his brain being transplanted into a clone body... Or he gained limited telekinetic powers... Yeah.

Shadow King is easily the scariest creepiest live action comic book villain I've ever seen. Fuck it's so good.
Awesome video! I remember reading these issues years ago, & thinking how cool it was to see the entire extended roster of the X-Men take on the Shafow King, & barely be able to hold their own. If I remember correctly, Charles could walknat this time because when he traveled to the Shi'ar, his lover Lilandria, had his consciousness transferred into one of the dozens of cloned bodies of Xavier she had created for him, in order to save his life. At first, although his new body was younger & fully healthy, he was unable to walk because his mind still perceived him as a cripple. But over time, he was eventually able to walk.
I'm hoping that the final episode will expand upon what they've done so far, with respect to the Shadow King's powers & motives, & possibly introduce more mutants to help them defeat him.
Professor X Regained the use of his legs when he was taken over by the Brood and he only way to get him back was to clone his body and place his brain in the Clone. as a result his clone body ha full use of his legs

Oddly enough, the issue where Xavier fought the Shadow King in this video was one of the first things I ever read front to back when I was little lol. My cousin was a huge comic collector and actually helped me to learn to read using comics.
I used to help my grandma and great grandma go shopping every Saturday (mostly to give my parents a break, I think), and my reward was one comic every week. I will always credit comic books for my lifelong love of reading.

Hey Rob! I'm a big fan, and loved your build up to secret war videos, Hickman's fantastic four, and especially the history of the marvel universe. I hope it's not just me, but I'd love to see more of the marvel cosmology or space stories. Perhaps, The Kree Skrull war, Operation: Galactic Storm, war of kings, realm of kings, the thanos imperative, or Chaos War. They don't get as much attention as earth and avengers focused stories.

In so late to this video but this was craaaaaaazy. Legion was my first intro to the shadow king and now with the pandemic I'm watching old episodes of the wolverine and the x men cartoon and storm was just possessed by the shadow king so I had to do some digging! In legion I could tell he was powerful but I had no clue he was this big of a deal!!! You explained his history really well, thanks a lot! This was so fascinating.

Muir Island was where I got into X-Men comics. This vid got me choked up. Rob, will you PLEASE do a video on Cyclops? When this story happened, he had just lost his son and he's such a deep character, but everyone I know just thinks he's 'a dick' like he was portrayed in the cartoon. Scott Summers was my role model because my dad wasn't around, and I'd love to see you do the character justice. Really love your vids. Keep up the great work!!

The 1990's x-men tv cartoon has the shadow king taking possession of Storm and her son. Thanks for all the new info. I thank god you aren't including horrible music like you have here under your narration in this video. It was really difficult to make it through this video because of that tripe. I love your music selection at the end of this video and your music selections at the end of the newer videos. It's best to have music when you are not speaking, and then, only instrumental music, imho.
Hey Rob, Professor X became the Brood Queen, was killed, then cloned, and the clone body had use of his legs. This is around New Mutants 1-3, and Uncanny X-Men 167.

i just finished reading a Foolkiller story, and I think that you would really enjoy his MAX story lines. I'm not asking you to do a video on Foolkiller, although that would be pretty cool. I'm just asking that you check his MAX story lines. Another MAX story line that I enjoyed reading was Fury which revolved around Nick Fury while he was still part of the CIA. There was some really cool writing in these stories.

I know you've already done several Wolverine vids, but I'd really like to see one about his biggest heals. Like the times where it really had his power on OP lvls such as when he survived a nuke.
This video explained a lot about the Shadow King. Im curious to see how his character plays out in the Legion TV show and if he is a recurring character for multiple seasons.

great story Rob from what I remember Charles Xavier was able to walk again due to a mental unblocking and what happened was that he donned a uniform and wanted to join the X-Men back out on the field I don't remember the exact year but if you want to research this any further that's basically what you were talking about in the beginning of this video thanks great work I love you Channel very informative thanks again

Thanks for reminding me of that series. I think I have it buried away in my stuff because I now remember that run with the Shadow King. Mostly because of Xavier in the armor on the astral plane. I am looking forward to season 2 of Legion because there are so many questions on where they can go, just simply because of who owns the rights to each marvel property. It is quite the convoluted mess
