The French tank "l'Eure" actually existed and is known to have destroyed 13 panzers at the Battle of Stonne. It receives 140 impacts on the hull, and 0 German shells can break through
@Cpl. Rook the reasoning behind this is quite simple. You dont want to get hit in the first place. You want to see the enemy first and then start to shoot at him before he noticed you. When you get hit there is a certain risk, even with the best armor(jammed turret, destroy vision blocks or destroyed tracks) so you try to avoid that. French tanks where a very tough but their visibility and their crew comfort sucked, primarly because they tought less crew means more tanks in gerneral, what means more work for less crew. If you have a crew that can handle the extra stress great but in the most cases you general performance will suffer. The B1 was a great tank on paper but in the field it had its weaknesses, a great crew and a lucky can compensate this to a degree. The best example for this is l'Eure, but inexperienced crew will suffer
@@julian281198 that... actually doesn't apply to that tank. The Char was meant to be an infantry support tank, which meant it was supposed to be in the front supporting the infantry during offensives. It was meant to receive hits and survive them, not sneak around and snipe enemies from out of reach. What you're suggesting applies to more modern vehicles, maybe even the German heavies from later in the war. But not to infantry support vehicles like this tank, or the British Matilda or Churchill.
There's nothing impressive that a heavily armed tank killed many tanks because no one could pen it While the first tank ace of the war used a fking tks tankette..

The French always seem to be criticised by the largely uneducated for their defeat during the war years and while criticism of their lack a radios which led to chaos amongst their ranks on the battlefield was well deserved the bravery of these men can never be criticised. @@vavabeille Agreed! Tbh I don't think any army in the world no matter how good could have stopped the Germans winning in 1940. Their push through the ardennes was a genius high risk/high reward strategy that paid off. They put both the British and French armies on the backfoot and unlike WW1 had the capacity to keep the speed of the advance going. The French along with those British regiments left behind (51st Highland Divison amoung others) fought to the bitter end side by side against the entire German army. In 1942 French General Charles de Gaulle, in a speech, claimed "I can tell you that the comradeship in arms experienced on the battlefield of Abberville in May and June 1940 between the French armoured division which I had the honour to command and the valiant 51st Highland Division under General Fortune played its part in the decision which I took to continue fighting on the side of the Allies unto the end, no matter what the course of events."

One of the tragedies of the Battle for France was that all the French soldiers who fought heroically at Dunkirk to ensure the evacuation could take place were eventually killed or taken prisoner. They were sent to Germany as POWs and once the war finished they were returned to France where they faced stigmatization for 'losing' the war. Meanwhile the partisans and free French forces (the latter who would have been their comrades in arms at Dunkirk) got all the glory. It must have sucked to be one of those French veterans at Dunkirk who would hear nothing but jokes about surrender, especially when their own government and people just forgot about them. edit: The opening scene in the movie Dunkirk shows a group of French soldiers defending the beach, and they grimly bid farewell to the protagonist as he heads to the beach and salvation, knowing full well they will be overrun by the Germans at any moment. "Allez Anglais. Bon voyage."
the german actually respected the french soldier at dunkirk because they holded alone against the luftwaffe and wermarcht to let the english soldier escape

HOLY CRAP!!! That was one of the finest trailers I have ever seen. It doesn't need amazing graphics like a COD trailer, or sweat dripping off someones face like in BFV. It's content in bringing to life a period of WW2 that is frequently overlooked, and keeping it centered in history, already puts it above the trailers of those major titles. And if that wasn't enough, the realism in the video is incredible. A tank crewman trying to get out of his tank before a German shell is even fired because he fears dying, that shell shocked look in the eyes of that one soldier when he sees the guy get shot in front of him and the tank crewmember on fire. This is war, this is commemoration and respecting history and truth. Forget the silly combat rolls and tough modern pop songs used as "music" to all these war game trailers now a days. This brings us Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture - powerful, classic, and brilliantly synced to the battle shown. And on top of all this, it is a FREE DLC! These developers are not money-grubbers who milk their fan-base for every cent they can take. BRAVO, Vive La France, and I bow to you Post Scriptum creators.

"I want to get off Mr. Billotte's wild ride" - Wehrmacht soldiers, probably.

Its actually pretty crazy that the Char B1 was kicking German armor's butt. Nothing could penetrate it...until they brought on the 88s
Cool, I like how an underrepresented nation in games is getting some attention!
Finally a ww2 game that doesn’t completely forget the French army! 200 000 French soldiers died in this war and they died fighting.
Il est ouf le trailer xD
So good to see the French getting some well deserved love for once! Thanks for this awesome update. Hopefully we will get to see other armies that aren't given enough love in WW2 games too. Dutch, Danish, Norwegian, Polish, to name a few.
I love all the "I fucked up moments in this" and their reactions. That one Frenchman bailing from that tank before it even took a shot, he knew he was fucked when his shot missed the Panzer, lol.
1:15 "sortez d'là" -> "get out of there"
This and Call of Duty United Offensive, are the only first person games that actually succeed in capturing the Saving Private Ryan look, feel and immersion.
Most just fail, including the Battlefield series and modern Call of Duty games.
1:26. The German tank is like “noPe noPe noPE”.
Great work. Press 'F' to pay respect to our lost brothers.
I have never seen so many expressions in a person's face in 2:06
It’s cool to see a chapter of WW2 that rarely gets covered, especially in video games. Keep it up!
90% actual in game footage...
I am going to reinstall this game again, I feel the call of "They shall not pass".
