- Hey everyone today in this video I will be showing you how to download Ortho4xp and make your first tile. If your new to flight simulation or just don't know what Ortho4xp is. Well it's a tool used to download Ortho Photos (Satellite Imagery) directly in to your X-Plane. It's an amazing tool and well worth the download.
Here is the link to the binary package (only install binary it's way easier):
drive.google.c...
For everyone who is having trouble re-organizing the ini file make sure to check out my video that shows you how to keep it organized: ruclips.net/video/H9tiZwht4U8/видео.html
i dont have the yortho4xp overlays folder
Dusted off my old xp11 copy and followed the tute in 2023 Still works like a charm.
Thank you I was looking for an updated one! Shared it with my friend that has been also having trouble. :)
Perfect thank you so much!
Greetings, do you have any error loading scenario? How long ago did you buy it, did you do it for xplaneorg?
The install instructions also mention installing some Python + python libraries. Why did you skip over that?
Your the best one so far!!!!
Glad to hear!
Helped me a lot
good to hear
great tut, def the easiest way to run ortho. thanks
Glad you think so!
Great tutorial, thanks! Subbed :)
hello, I've followed everything, but what appears is only tall buildings, and buildings like houses are flat, how can I solve this?
Nice video!, only problem for me was that the Ortho_overlays file wasnt in my Ortho4XP folder not sure why
Make sure you click extract overlays in the batch build process.
Make sure you SHIFT click and not CTRL click the area on the world map before you batch it. Also make sure you selected the X-Plane 11 Global Scenery folder, and not the main Global Scenery folder.
You also seem to have a similar issue as I with shimmering lighted objects like the light poles... any ideas ?
Great video. My water looks a bit weird also can you do multiple tiles or is it one at a time :)
Don’t know about the water and you can definitely do multiple tiles at once.
Thank you for the video. Very helpful on concise material! One question tough. How do you save the settings on the OrthoXP config page? Each time I close the program, they revert to default and I have to look at your video to apply them again.
Yeah that happens to me also. Sadly I don’t know a way around this issue:(
'write APP cfg' should resolve that issue.
Click apply, and then exit.
I keep getting a million warnings saying "could not covert texture" and also when I waited for it to download and I spawned in x plane crashed and the note said "could not find files for terrain" can anyone please help?
I'm having trouble with the actual airport because when i put the ortho tiles above the global airports the scenery is good but doesn't have buildings but when i put it below the area of the airport is default and the ortho scenery only kicks in around that
Umm i couldn't find the yortho4xp_overlays folder. I have no idea what to do
nevermind
Why after I select the area I want(use Preview to select some specific small area), it downloads the scenery of the entire area(the initially selected area in the Global shape button, the big coverage one)? And it seems that there is no difference compared to the specific area(ZL18) and the whole area in resolution
thank you soooooooooooooooo much! Legend
I have 2 problems: On the Preview screen, I only see a plan map and not a picture; 2 I cannot figure out how to add higher zoom areas.
Cannot seem to get past step 2.5
what if you make a bunch of tiles like of a whole province or something like that? will it slow down your x plane or crash it?
No, not at all. It would just take a very long time to make. You would probably have to leave it overnight depending on the size.
Will this work on apple macbook
yes
Could you type out the ul address. I can't read it in the video. Thanks
Warning and errors galore. I am so lost
Im wondering if I can move the scenery folder to another drive ? where is the link to Xplane ?
For example - can you add a drive letter in front of the Custom scenery folder name in the .INI file ?
Without confusing XPLANE
thanks again
Yes this is possible. I would watch this video to find out how to do it. It doesn't impact performance at all though the one downside is it increases the loading times.

Very good tutorial, thank you for making it. Is there a way to extract just the mesh data from the tiles?
Yes simply just click extract overlay
how do i make those boxes around
the airport?
Ctrl and then left click I think
I tried to do this in Denver but the airport is like 5k feet from the city and is like its own mountain and is super weird is there anyway to fix this altitude mismatch?
Ohhhhh so I have never encountered this problem but I have heard of others struggling with this issue. I’m sure you can find an answer online:)
@@xbryceflightsim Can you please put a link because I tried to google my problem but nothing would show up tha
the only problem I am having is OSM server blocking Ortho4xp's query plz help
Something odd is happening with the service right now. OSM stands for open street map which helps create the overlay for the tile (buildings, roads etc.). Try building the tile without clicking the check mark stating: "Extract Overlays". This in turn should solve your problem.
@X-Bryce Flight Sim I am not getting the "apply" and "exit" options in the Ortho4XP config, What do I do?How do I save it?
You have to change stuff before you can save anything. Thats my best guess
@@xbryceflightsim what stuff, Inside the the config right? I did chenge it. I just cant save the changes
hi, just have a question, so when i create a shortcut for the ortho overlay and move it in my custom scenery folder, then open the scenery packs.ini folder, the overlay doesnt appear, do you know if i am doing anything wrong and/or how to fix this? Ty
You have to load up Xplane first so that It can load it into the ini file.
@@xbryceflightsim I figured out it was a problem with my gpu that was easily fixed, thanks for the help tho
Not much buildings show its only PNGS?
Make sure you move the overlay folder into the custom scenery folder. You can find this in the ortho4xp main folder.
Does it kill a lot of FPS?
None at all really but it depends if you use the custom overlay:)
@@xbryceflightsim ok
Once again i have another ridiculous problem. I have been trying to get ortho4xp to work for several days, due to how absolutely miserable xplane 11 looks, and just have gotten nowhere. I get to the settings page you show in the vid, and the window is so zoomed in that i can't do anything to get to the bottom of the page to apply the settings. Infuriating. Obviously you would think, Its gotta be some kind of zoom function on the pc? Its not, its all disabled. I don't know what to do anymore. Xplane looks so bad, not enjoyable at all, and just want at least my local area to look good. ANy help GREATLY appreciated.
windows 11
All good. Sorry. Im dumb. Lol. Not a computer guy. Been on consoles for 30 years now. Just got a really good pc build and am trying to get away from the arcade like flight models of MSFS2020, it gorgeous, but it is NOT a sim. So xplane was the choice, and i instantly regretted it. Looks like minecraft out there in comparison
i didnt get the overlay map
Try again on a different tile
I followed this to the tee, but my orthos and the buildings inside it are flat.

@@xbryceflightsim I did that...
Make sure it’s below global airports. Or if your using a custom airport make sure it’s below that. That’s the only solution, unless something else happened with your global scenery.
@@xbryceflightsim must be something else...all the ortho4xp stuff is on the bottom and the overlay is on top of those.
@@TheFretman2 oh make sure you didn’t delete the global scenery line
my buildings on the airport are gone...
That could be a problem with the load order of the assets. One asset is overwriting the airport one.
Make sure you put your Ortho tile at the bottom of the ini file.
and i cant find my over lay file
Okay I’m done with these comments. In the video I did it start to finish so there is no possible way for you to mess up if you followed all the steps. Watch the video!
i found it but my airport terminals are gone and sorry for mishap
Reorganize the ini file
@@xbryceflightsim ok
Ok, issue #45478923758943025768439, the tile size literally cuts my hometown in half, and there is seemingly no way around that at all. Is 2 tiles possible, if so is that the only fix?
My binary Ortho4xp folder does not have the files you mentioned such as the overlays, and I have followed your video step by step, what am I doing wrong? Is this because I should put it in my XP11 Resources Folder?
Try it again step by step on a different tile. Some of them for some reason don't populate.
@@xbryceflightsim hi thanks for the reply, however I have since fixed the issue
Hey can anyone help I did everything and but x plane is stuck on reading new scenery files
For how long?
@@xbryceflightsim Sense I downloaded ortho4xp and it would be stuck for hours until I click the screen then it would say it’s not responding
Delete the tiles and re-install them. Make sure you click all the boxes in the batch build process
@@xbryceflightsim ok
@@xbryceflightsim Do I just delete them for scenery packs ?
my buiding are gone
same bro did you find out why or how to fix it yet?
Make sure you check the order of the ini file in the scenery folder
I dont have the overlays on the main folder.
make sure you click "extract overlays" when your doing the batch build
@@xbryceflightsim it works! Thanks :)
