    Really enjoy your work. Great production for RUclips videos. I just purchased 1 of those little boats can't wait to get out and try it.

      Thank you. Glad you liked them. The little boats have been a lot of fun. We really enjoy the simplicity and capability to get into some really cool spots. Congratulations on your new boat and Fair Winds

    Wonderful video once again. Thanx for sharing. Maybe put some reefs in your main and you may be able to tackle those blustery winds.

      Thank you. I definitely need reefs in the main. I’m probably just going to get an entirely new sail because my main is very old and the shape isn’t too good anymore. I’ve seen a few of rogers videos, they are pretty good.

    I really enjoy watching your videos we have the identical boat so it's interesting to see what you decide to do and when you decide to do it as compared to me I like ponderay really well living down in Boise is quite a run up there but I make it 😢up to Donnely and Bear lake occasionally Anderson ranch. and bear reservoir gardens

      Thanks for watching the videos! It is cool to see that there are quite a few people with these 16’ boats and they are enjoying them as much as I am. Mine was in pretty rough shape but it has been fun restoring her. Fair winds on those beautiful lakes in central and southern Idaho!!

    Hi nice video! How do two boats compair? Is the Newport faster? Thanks

    • @ruddyducksailing
      @ruddyducksailing  Год назад +1

      Thanks. Spoiler alert I actually discuss the differences a little bit in the next video coming up. Basically the Newport is quite a bit quicker on all points of sail and has larger cockpit and cabin but the potter seems more stable due to the hard chined hull. Also there is a slight weight difference of about 200 lbs with the potter being lighter but both are very easy to manage in the shallows and easy to sail

    curious...why not reef to keep sailing in the higher winds?

    • @ruddyducksailing
      @ruddyducksailing  Год назад +2

      Good question! There are no reef points in the old mainsail . I would much prefer to sail so I will either modify the sail or purchase a new main in the future that will have reef points!

    Nice work taking those little boats out in those conditions. Does the little 2.5 hp Yammie push that Newport thru those waves and wind well? I have an AMF Sunbird that needs a new outboard and am eyeballing that engine or a 4hp.

      Yeah the Yamaha does great for that boat. I was still breaking in the motor when we faced the heavy winds and was running it at around 40%. Still making around a knot of boat speed. I think your boat is lighter and I would definitely recommend the 2.5 . A good balance of power to weight!

    what is a better boat WwP or the Newport ?

      @ruddyducksailing  Год назад +1

      In my opinion back in the day as stock boats the potter was probably a better boat due to build quality/ fit and finish. However I prefer the Newport because it is roomier, faster, and a little more comfortable. Which one is actually better is up to interpretation of the individual and what they want out of a boat. I’d be happy with either one!
