- As our third day of this 2017 road trip dawned we left Cocoa Beach heading west. After passing through the Orlando area we pause near Gainesville at the Kanapuha Botanical Garden. This garden is 68 acres of delightful paths winding through a wonderful world of plants and natural beauty. The collection of Bamboo is the states largest. Great place to explore away from the crowds. Our journey now continued to the Gulf Coast and a two night stay in a cabin in St Joseph State Park. While our accommodation overlooked tranquil St Joseph Bay we were just a short walk from the white sands of the Gulf of Mexico. Night one though was time to take a breath and enjoy the peace of this stunning location.

There are plenty around to explore. We like to mix things up a bit on our trips. While the wild environments and the wildlife is hard to beat there is much more within the amazing landscapes. The Botanic Gardens and Zoos even bring together so much variety that we would not easily encounter in nature. we feel lucky that we enjoy almost everything we encounter. Thanks for watching.

Thanks guys for taking a look. There are so many interesting places to out there to enjoy. We do look out for special gardens along our way. I am afraid it is Ivor who likes the rocking chairs and struggles to pass them by. He did get a shot of my back as I made use of the seating at the waters edge. (Well near enough to the water so that I could see any approaching alligators) It was a brilliant place to stay for a couple of nights. Best wishes Robert & Ivor.

What you say is very true. When we are younger we can just be accepting of the fact that the world is there and we can take so much for granted. The other thing that many are able to take for granted is health. We are lucky to have been able to do so much but later life does often have nasty surprises so make sure that you enjoy every opportunity. Those rocking chairs and places to sit with special views and take things in become more attractive as time goes by. Enjoy every day.

Beautiful Botanical Gardens! You were there at the right time to see the azaleas and tulip trees, or were they Magnolias? in bloom! I enjoyed seeing this tropical style garden. The white sandy beaches in Florida are wonderful- nice calm water and great accommodations! 💮💮
Hi Jennifer. We often travel in January as it coincides with Ivor`s birthday. I think it was mainly magnolias that we filmed here. It was really great having the place almost to ourselves. Over the years we have found many of these lesser known places where we could break a journey on a long drive. The State Park we stayed in was also quiet and that cabin was so brilliantly located. I was surprised to see that you were back in the US but then I realized it was from a few years ago. I never heard of this botanical garden in Florida. Nice little place to stay too. 👍19
Hi. We made about 30 road trips in North America, over the years, all before we started posting on RUclips. While we are stuck waiting for our hospitals to catch up after covid we thought we might share some of these. We have stayed in many State and National Parks and some brilliant cabins in great locations. They can be very affordable out of season. There are so many lesser known gardens everywhere and again a bit out of season and they can be great places to break a journey. Thanks for taking a look.
Wow love the gardens, the flowers and the bamboo was great! I have never heard of this state park, so I googled it and wow I want to add this to our list of places to stop. My kids would love to stay right there on the bay!! So cool, great video!
We stayed in January and the waterside houses were so affordable and so brilliantly located. We have found some really interesting cabins in State Parks and they really do add to our own road trips. More of this Park in our next video. thanks for watching.

It is especially great when there is hardly anyone else about. The peace and serenity is just joyful. That cabin was a great find. It was so affordable being well out of season. Sitting on that bench with that placid bay and just the birds to enjoy was just wonderful.

You have so many wonderful gardens in the US that are not widely known. When we plan our routes I tend now to ask Google to show me gardens or State Parks or other attraction that might interest me and then create a route close to those that do. We have found so many interesting places doing just that. Thanks for watching.

Feeling fine thanks but still waiting for an op until which I am pretty much tied to home. Finally though we have some better and warmer weather and can at least enjoy the garden. RUclips is keeping us in touch with the rest of the world though. Thanks for watching this earlier road trip. @@IvorsTravels I know what this waiting feels like as I may be spending most of the summer home waiting for a phone call in regards to a last minute cancellation so that I can get an appointment with a neurologist and an MRI and yet again for over a year for a follow up appointment. But I'm keeping hopeful and will definitely enjoy seeing what got your attention here in my part of the world.
@@wendingourway Things take a while here too. Where we live in Nottingham the University was able to develop the first full body scanner and I was lucky enough to get a scan within days of visiting my Doctor with a problem. Things are pretty fast if cancer is suspected. Pretty quickly biopsies indicated that I was clear of any cancerous cells so I am no longer a priority but am left wearing some uncomfortable equipment that makes walking any distance awkward. I have now been waiting since the start of January! Hopefully not much longer to go. I am under neurology dept here as well for a longer term condition. Hence I am getting frustrated not being able to get out and about as usual. Hope that you can get sorted sooner than you think. Best wishes from Nottingham.
