An Evening In Angers then onto Fougeres & St Malo - France 🇫🇷

- As day seventeen ends we are in Angers, capital of Anjou. The great fortress of Angers dominates our approach to the city as we head out for a meal. We pass the castle and climb to the Cathedral before experiencing a little of the evening atmosphere. Day Eighteen was marked by torrential rain as we drove to the Breton Coast. A stop in Fougeres was still memorable as we wandered alongside another powerful castle. Finally as we arrived in St Malo the rain paused long enough for us to walk the walls of this historic maritime fortress city. The setting sun lighting the stormy skies.

Hello Anna. This trip was in October last year. Sadly we have not been able to do much so far this year due to health concerns. The NHS is keeping us waiting but we hope it will not be long until we can start enjoying the world once more. The castles and cathedrals alone make touring here so wonderful. Thanks for watching.

We had done pretty well for weather on most of this trip. We still though were disappointed not to be able to have some sun in Fougeres. The view off the walls at St Malo helped to balance things though. Always wonderful to walk this circuit of wonderful walls whatever time of day.

Hi Ivor and Robert how beautiful the view of the river was wonderful. The shots you got inside the cathedral with the dark sky on the window made the gold really special. The rain and mist over the castle added a very atmospheric feel. We enjoyed a really relaxing 5 minuted watching this it had everything ending at the sea with wonderful skies and a beautiful sunset. It was a shame because we wanted to get some good images at Fougeres but even though it was so drab there you can get an impression of the power of this place. Hi there. We are just never satisfied. Would like every day to be perfect. The last few times we have stopped off in Fougeres it has been raining. I have only old photos of Fougeres fortress in the sun. l would to get some digital images at some point. Just greedy I suppose. Still the sun is pretty good here in Nottingham today. That line of waterwheels seems to hint at a medieval factory within the castle! We were so disappointed that there was such heavy rain but we had done so well over the past weeks we could not really complain (although we did).

Thank you Jamie. We enjoy road trips almost anywhere and have been to France many times. St Malo is a favourite place to visit. Some great coast walks around here. The coast is a lot like Cornwall.
