Lovely old village and memories ❤
Indeed
China 🇨🇳 likes to preserve old things, they don't destroy it, this shows how & from where to where they've come
It's called a living museum. The owner the Wuyuan Countryside Development Company does not pretend otherwise. The private company's largest shareholder Wu Xiangyang saw the location's potential as a tourism attraction.
You will find them in Europe, they demonstrate the old trades.
China (ccp) has destroyed a loooot of ancient buildings/culture. The Old building in the cities, majority of them got destroyed. I'm a chinese btw.
@@dlf4298 it was the Japanese who destroyed them
@@dlf4298 Yeah; China had a Hard-Time in the 20th Century.....But; U might want to look to the Positive and know the Following;-
The Harbin Opera House with Young and Thrusting Architects like.....Ma Yansong........
Ma Yansong 's Sheraton Huzhou Hot Spring Resort; is Smoking.....!!!
Oh; by the way U might want to gander Linda Wrigglesworth Line in Imperial Clothing as well....(Mum's the Word!).
And as for something Modern and I know this "Doggie-Fresh" from Personal Experience.....
Try....
"Airport Strikers"; 機場特警 01/25 粵語英字.
25 Episodes; knock yourself Out!
Oh; and I am Olde enough to know that the Brits. Bulldozed a lot of their own Heritage in the Name of Progress; way back in the 1960s and 1970s.....
See: The Architectural Styles of the Royal National Theatre in the South Bank. (London).
And; as for the North Peckham Estate.... (Rumours; has it the Architect Committed Suicide!)
See: Also; Ronan-Point & Grenfell Towers! Oh; anyone for a Tour of North Glasgow!
@@dlf4298 文革时期,是一场传统文化的毁灭。改革开发,是农村社会的毁灭,经过几十年的破坏,又花大把的钱重新重视农村。中国政府一定是不合格的政府,但是感觉西方政府更加不合格。
that's for real my childhood back to 1980s,i'm tearing.
The water wheel is particularly interesting. Ancient Chinese technology was incredibly advanced, 1000 years or more advanced from Europe. They used water wheels for power. They could mass produce as early as 250 BC - probably earlier.
They had a very advanced understanding of gears & could convert the horizontal axis of rotation to a vertical axis. Thereby they could drive 8 grain grinders from 1 water wheel.
At that time the Romans were still grinding corn manually.
You will find that this technology was confined to the cities, & mainly used by projects initiated by the emperor.
I'm always amused that the Chinese worked out that they could use straw & reed to make personal rain wear over 2,000 years ago & still used it in rural areas until recently when synthetic fabrics became available.. Europe worked out it could be used to keep houses dry (thatch) since time immemorial, but never made rain wear. So our outdoor workers just got cold & wet for thousands of years, whereas the wise Chinese stayed warm & dry.
Exactly, thanks.
Going back in time. Down memory lane. Remembering my grandparents. They migrated from Moyan or Meizhou to the paradise island of Mauritius. They had these old ways of doing things. Shoemaking and making candies and rice crispies.
I spent my childhood in a small village in Jiangsu China and this video brings back my childhood vividly. Appreciate it very much to make this available in RUclips.
Hello Mister Lee Barrett, always good see you doing well.
Hey, thanks
I cannot help but noticed that Barret looks well cared for by his wife. Marriage seems to be good for him. Jia you to this couple.
Indeed she does look after me well..
I've never heard of Puffa Puffa Rice. Only Rice Krispies. I had a Walkman (cassette) though.
Clumsy Jason.
It's so important to keep the tradition of arts and craft. One of my treasured items I bought last time I went to China many many years ago was a small translucent bottle. The artist used a stick-thin brush, inserted it into the small mouth of the bottle and painted the inside, and also wrote some words. Beautiful and painstakingly done.
QUAKER PUFFED RICE (also wheat), "Shot From Guns"! I didn't think it really WAS shot from guns, but in fact it was! I didn't see a video of this until I was grown. The same principle you see here, but on a much bigger scale. I think we still have this cereal. The genius of this is that you don't need special "popcorn", and can use different grains. I like it when the guy blows a whistle. Have never seen this in person. If I somehow finally get to a Chinese street market and they DON'T have the popcorn cannon, I'm going to be disappointed!
@@leonardpearlman4017 I once managed a factory that makes puffed rice, wheat and corn. The "guns" were a lot bigger than the one in the video.
If there’s pop corn, there’s pop rice. And yes I used to own a Cassette tape recorder.
The cassette tapes were clumsy. They would get stuck in the spinning drum.. Cds are clumsy too. Get scratches.
Used to have those candy in Malaysia, unfortunately can't find them anymore. We called it tin ting tong. Love them.
不知道是不是叫叮叮糖,我们这边好像也这样叫
@@peaceandloveSZyes 丁丁糖
I like it. This is truly Chinese. It reminds me of my childhood.
Hey Boss👀! Awesome Video. Thanks For Sharing. Have Fun👋
Thanks for watching
Easily the place of my choice. Love the atmosphere there, the people, the simple life and the view
It's very interesting.
Great vlog! It is interesting comparing this to the vlog you took us to the town you grew up in England a few days back. It's fascinating that when you were back to your brith place, you probably did not notice a lot of differences in way of living. The peole you met in Jiangxi though, had seen so much changes in front of their eyes in a just a few decades.
Yes indeed, From the laste generation of Chinese to this current one has seen huge changes.
I grew up with cassettes. My parents had a bunch of Chinese songs that my grandfather had recorded, and we’d listen to them whenever we went out for Sunday drives on our car's cassette deck. This is a great video that shows rural China with a level of immersion and sincerity that all should see 😊
Keep the traditional style of village alive.
Nice vid Lee. Good to see you both out and about, not just promoting cars and batteries but also the small towns and cities and culture.
Thanks 👍
China love their culture, history, and leaders. ❤
Love the traditional architectures! 😍
Us too!
Would be good if they can preserve the exterior and modernise the interior so people can continue to live there. Like what you do in the UK.
Beautiful, very lively traditional village experience...
That cassettes radio is GOLD
When I think of cassette, I feel my little finger hurting.
Haha, yes, winding the tape back into the cassette...

Amazing looking village!! Definitely adding it to my list of places to see in my travels!!
It really is!
Cool area
Lovely Place, definitely worth a visit.
Push forward all-round rural vitalization
I have been to that village several years old in the winter. That is not too far from my hometown, in JiangXi province.
每个人都有童真和美好的童年
A lot of traditional foods and snacks I used to eat when I was a kid in Hong Kong. Very nostalgic indeed. Thank you Lee for sharing this precious video 🙏👍
Marvellous!!!
I love visiting Chinese villages, so rustic and full of charms and characters!
When I was young,my family had most of these, this is a very traditional house.
The Chinese are friendly people
Except those on RUclips
Lol! Can't help laughing while seeing you rolling the traditional rice puffing machine.
Wonderful living museums. Better tourist attraction than Disney land.
I don't think any western countries have such living museums.
I went to something similar in Guilin and they had also a printing press, I got a picture that they printed as a souvenir.
This looks like a great place. Living museums or open-air museums have existed in Germany since the 1970s, for example Hessenpark. Denmark had the Den Gamble By (The Old Town) in Aarhus since 1914. I am pretty sure many countries around the world have them.
@@sabinereynaudsf thanks for the information, much appreciated.
Very reminiscent to my childhood too, and I'm a 90s baby.
we had those candies tuk tuk in Singapore in the 1990s... gone now
I not only remember tape recorders but how wonderful it was to get rid of the "hiss" & needle damage from gramophones, especially before plastic records. Trouble is when the tape sticks & unravels from the spool.
Still used them to record music & instruments which are only occasionally performed on radio until I got a pc about 20 years ago.
It's quite nostalgic for me.
Sharp today is now under Foxconn 😊😊😊
Ah, thanks for that info, I was not aware of that.
@@BarrettYT That was like around a few years back. They even snapped Toshiba’s TV business from mainland China’s Hisense in 2022
Im old enough to remember 😂
Cool...
You are together with Jason hamburger King, 👍👍👍
nice video
Incredible good theme video shooting from "Barrett Channel". Sincerely thanks.
Sadly I remember cassettes and even prior technology XD
When all China was imitating those commercial ancient towns, Huangling did a great job!
This place is a popular tourist attraction. It is about on par Furong ancient town and Phoenix ancient town (both in Hunan province) and the Miao ancient town in Guizhou province. I have not been to all but I will certainly visit in near future.
China elevates villagers income, and help preserved traditional ancient style living cultures, and boosting cultures rich tourism
像是回到以前,不禁泪眼汪汪❤
A beautiful Chinese village with creative people.
It really is. Thanks for watching.
7:16 seems you did better than Jason there😂😂
Indeed I did.
I really like your videos, so interesting. these crafts men really remind me of the 80's, when my dad took me to those markets. I was so happy there
Thanks for watching!
Jason: "Meanwhile... In America..." 😂
LOL
Still have cassette tapes with music of my teenage years in the 60's & 70's. Also have reel to reel tape of this period. Saved them for the future generations.
Great to see Jason there too!
That sticky rice at 4:45 is what the Japanese call as "mochi"
Definitely remember most of the food snakes and tech like radio and TV. Remember especially the hard candy that you chip off.
Beautiful village Sir ❤❤❤
wonderful
👏👏👏👍
It is gteat to see you again🎉🎉🎉
Oh my Gosh please.
China is very beautiful even in rural area
那台旧电视里播放的好像是84版的射雕英雄传,看到洪七公😂
LOL, the best part of the video is when the villager is politely trying to disarm Lee of the meat cleaver while he's just happily talking away to the camera and eating the rice krispie. I recommend you put down the knife with the handle towards the host before continuing... and also, never let Jason do anything with a knife!
more videos like this, please
Grew up with 8 TRACK TAPES, followed by cassettes, CD, and DVD! First time I flew, it was on PAN AM 747 before deregulation with excellent service. Started driving when gas was about 40 cents per gallon plus reward stamps, of course, full service with window cleaning and engine oil check. Video was shot using SUPER 8 films, and we used to stop for pedestrians. Oh, the good old days!
i want to visit there too
You should, it's a beautiful place indeed.
Great to go back in time
beautiful village!
I remember 3" reel to reel on a Philips battery powered tape recorder long before the cassette.
Love it
争取第一个赞!!!!!❤❤❤❤❤

Really enjoy your video
Glad you enjoyed it
Cassettes! My grandmother was illiterate. She would record cassettes instead of writing letters and send them family abroad.
Wow, that's really cool.
Those old things are worth billions of USD (because USD is toilet paper) 😅😅😅
Glad in the era of modernity, China is preserving their traditional heritage.
八零后,这些是小时候的记忆。感谢!
Puff rice been around for years and still is today
In China, there are so many interesting things to try, unbelievably endless of food selections to choose from, u just never get bored
My cassette collections are long gone, my cd collections are no longer played, everything is played from solid state storage now
That place is the Yilong Wharf of Genshin Impact
I still have a great Onkyo cassette double deck to digitize cassette tapes.
Lee, I hope you can also visit Hakka settlement in Ganzhou😊 anytime soon
eat the rice Popcorn with milk!!! that is heaven.
Please learn to speak the local language. Overcome the mental barrier of difficulty. It's all in the mindset. When you are able to communicate like a local, it'll be a big big advantage and inclusive living in China.
