    Watching two years later, this is awesome. Currently making a model with a lot of armor parts, and I'm basically brand new to Zbrush so this video helped me clean up the model a LOT.

    Once again, a good amount of information presented concisely. UHHH I just need to sit down and go through all of your videos to try and make a character, I've been so intimidated by the process. Awesome job again Gatz.

    Hi Gatz, Quick one, are those tools available on the Core version of the ZBrush?

    • @Gatz3D
      @Gatz3D  3 года назад

      Hey man! Zbrush Core does have Zremesher, but it’s missing some of the features. That being said, if it still reduces your polycount, thats all that matters. (Not 100% sure on that, it would require more research)
      Zbrush Core does not allow the creation of UV’s, so you cant export your polypaint data to other programs or create normal maps from high poly sculpts.
      It has a ton of other features and is excellent for sculpting and creating projects that you can show off inside of Zbrush.
      Not sure of all the features its missing but it’s still great for learning, and you can always upgrade your license to the full version later for an additional $400 (or whatever the rest of the price is)
      Hope this helps! :)

    • @Gatz3D
      @Gatz3D  3 года назад

      Found a comparison sheet for Zbrushcore vs the full version.
      Looks like you only get 40 brushes, so some of them might be missing, you also cannot do render passes.

    hi, this is not how my inset edgeloop complete all works, it just insets each poly indivitually from each 4 edge of the poly, any idea why?

    • @Gatz3D
      @Gatz3D  2 года назад +1

      Hey! Sounds like either an issue with the geometry or the Zmodeler brush. When you’re using Inset, Edgeloop Complete, make sure not to mess with any modifiers below those options or it could change how the brush works.
      Are all the settings in modifiers set to the left-most option?

    • @nihilnihilnihil
      @nihilnihilnihil 2 года назад

      @@Gatz3D thanks a lot for the quick response! I don't have as many options there as you do but changing to "inset region" helped fix it, which was on the right side on my version. thanks!

    is there a way to do this in zbrush core? it does not have the groups loops button

    • @Gatz3D
      @Gatz3D  2 года назад

      Hey! Thanks for the question. I’m not familiar enough with the interface of Zbrush Core, but if you cant do Group Loops you can still use Zremesher at a low target polycount to reduce geometry, then use the Move brush to get things into place.
      When it’s time to give your object some thickness, you may have to use polygroups and masking to do the job.
      If your mesh is one-sided with no closed or back-facing geometry, you can go to Geometry, Modify Topology, Close Holes, and it will fill in the back of your mesh with a new polygroup. Then hold Ctrl and click on the outer polygroup, then press a W on your keyboard to bring up your 3D Gizmo and move the unmasked polygroup up/away from the masked area to give it some thickness.
      To clean up your polyloops you may have to export to another program like Maya/Blender since Zmodeler is not in Core.
      Hope this helps! Thanks for watching!

    i have a weird question! When you hide polygroups where do all the other groups go? and how do you choose which one to see at any point in time? thanks

    • @Gatz3D
      @Gatz3D  3 года назад +2

      Hey! Not a weird question at all. :)
      In Zbrush you can hold Ctrl+shift and Left-click a polygroup to isolate it and hide everything else. You can then hold Ctrl+shift and click/drag outside your object to show the opposite of that polygroup, ie: every other polygroup. After clicking and dragging, if you hold Ctrl+shift again, any polycgroup you click on will become hidden. You can use these 3 selection methods to isolate any groups or just work on specific parts without affecting your whole mesh. When you’re ready to show everything again, hold Ctrl+shift and Left Click outside your object to show all polygroups, or they will remain hidden, even if you switch subtools. You can also show all by going to the Visibility menu on the right (under the Tool menu) and selecting Show All.
      Hope this helps! :)
