    I work with zbrush for over 6 years, so I opened that video even if I thought I could have already know all your tips. I have to admit, tho, that I never thought about the polygrouping BEFORE the remeshing. This is a great tip! Thanks for sharing :)

    Great video! For the ZRemesher part, you can also create polygroups for better ZRemesher topology by using Polypaint and the Polygroupit plugin (built into ZBrush) by painting the edgeloops onto the mesh. I personally think that it gives more control over where you want to set the edge loops and how dense you want them to be for the remeshed result.

    Just found your channel and im so glad because you are good at making this stuff way more comprehensive and chill! Maybe one day you could make a video about using curves in zbrush as a request? ive messed with them before and they are honestly scary and i end up appending most stuff which feels like purgatory. My professors don’t really have the gift of gab so getting a better understanding has been difficult. it would be super appreciated! ❤

      No problem! That should get you pretty much identical results

  • @NikitaGal31
    @NikitaGal31 2 года назад +1

    Hi! These tips are great. Thanks a lot! I have a question: for example I've created a character model following a concept. And it's like almost done, 95% ready before making final renders. But it's feels like something's missing or something's a bit off, but you don't know what it is even after a few hours of trying to figure out. So what to do at that point? Ask for a feedback?

    • @hartgameart
      @hartgameart  2 года назад +2

      Hey Nikita! I know exactly what you mean. Sometimes you get to the end and to a point where it's very difficult to change anything but you know in the back of your head some things need to be reworked.
      Asking for feedback is always great if you have someone you can get feedback from. Often we are staring at a piece for so long it becomes difficult to notice the flaws. It can also be good to take a screenshot and bring it in photoshop and just doodle on top of it since this is a faster way to iterate than in 3d. It also just doesn't hurt to step away from it for a bit and come back later with a fresh set of eyes.
      If it's something like you just needed an extra strap or maybe some extra accessories here or there. I'll just swallow my pride and do those on a seperate set of texture maps and remember for next time to do more rough renders throughout my process in the hope of catching anything thats lacking sooner rather than later.
      If it feels likes like something fundemental like the face just isn't right or core pieces of the character just feel off you have to make a choice. You can go back and rework some stuff, rebake and adjust your textures as needed or just call it a live and learn moment and take what you've learned into your next project

      @@hartgameart Wow, thank you so much for this comprehensive reply!

    • @thivolan3d
      @thivolan3d Год назад

      @@NikitaGal31 Hey Nikita, its always great to try and figure stuff out on your own but if have a group with other artists to turn to for advice i'd advise doing that as they can usually pick stuff up in a few seconds of seeing the model; its not their model so seeing the faults is a lot easier... Id also recommend keeping everything simple from the beginning and getting feedback from that point on, this way it prevents you from needing to go back at the 90% mark because you figured everything out before the 40% mark with help from your peers etc.

    Hi,
    In the end did you divide (ctrl+n) to smooth the straps?

    • @hartgameart
      @hartgameart  2 года назад

      Hey Ali! That was just dynamic mode by hitting “d” it lets you preview a smoother version of the mesh without actually subdividing it

  • @marcelowiek
    @marcelowiek 2 года назад

    Outstading video, bro! Keep the good tips and the good work!
    I have a question: lets say we started to model a piece of accessorie from a cube/cilinder/sphere by whatever reason and find the "almost perfect" shape for it. But the reality is that we just needed to have a plaint sheet, with the same shape and extrude it to have a more accurated thing.
    Is there an easier way to divide this mesh by polygroups instead of doing it by hand or by that "groups" menu?
    I'm a newbie on zbrush and once I was trying to find an easier way to create a liss hair, but I've always face that roundness shape when divide the mesh, so it was a pain to make that hair to look less weird, haha
    Cheers!
