oats is a very versatile grain. you can make oatmeal for your breakfast and you can also make oatmilk on the side of it. if your feeling like baking but don’t have flour, you can blend the oats to make oat flour
Terry, I am proud of you and each and every people who are in this oats industry, starting from the farmers to people who churn out delicious foods that contains the beautiful oats products.
Great video! Thanks for making it. I replaced wheat with oat in my diet due to gluten sensitivity and blood sugar issues. Now I buy oats in bulk and make everything from cakes and cookies to oatmeal with them.
Oatmeal is a super healthy and inexpensive meal for breakfast. Top with sliced bananas, raisins and sliced walnuts. If you are trying to eat a clean diet, lower cholesterol and A1C numbers this is the way to go. It is a low glycemic index food. Stabilizes your blood sugar. I consider it a super food!!!
No doubt about rolled oats helping with weight loss (not the quick oats). I lost about 5 pounds without much change to my exercise routing but only ate oats for a month straight. I really like it now. And yes I eat mine just the way it is, no additives.
Does anyone know if these oats are "steam prepared"? If so, in what step of the process does this happen in the video? In Sweden it is common among cereal that they have been "steam prepared".
I’m no oat expert, but in the US what we refer to as “rolled oats” are steamed in the manufacturing process. I didn’t see them show that in this video. The part in the video with the glass containers showing various oat byproducts had glass jar with rolled oats in it.
Am I the only one that eats a bowl of oatmeal with nothing added. Usually when I make a bowl of oatmeal every morning my family bugs me about the fact I eat it plain haha just the way I like it!! 😍
Hi channel owner and fellow viewers, I have a question about oats soaked in purified water that needs your help to provide you valuable opinion. I buy rolled oats (100% wholegrain type) from the supermarket. Every morning I scoop 6 tablespoons of these rolled oats into a big soup bowl. I rinse the rolled oats with purified water twice, then soak them in purified water for 30 minutes or more before I consume them directly without adding any other things. Please kindly advise whether this is a good and healthy way to eat rolled oats which can help to lower my hypertension readings.
@@dannyborke6551 acrylamide can also be produced via home cooking, not just on an industrial scale. the american cancer society says it can't yet verify that food-borne acrylamide is a cancer risk, but to avoid fried (chips, french fries, etc) foods and crisped foods (barbecue, dark toast), and foods like roasted coffee if you are worried. the highest acrylamide cancer risk is from cigarette smoke.
It’s crazy how detached we are from our food. Until you really stop to think about it, it’s easy to see the stuff at the grocery store as things that just exist “as they are”, boxed and packaged. It’s interesting to look up things like oats or cashews, and learn the context for how they sprout up in nature and are harvested/processed. Also kinda crazy how today we still eat the same things humans hundreds or thousand years ago also ate. The same exact animals, grains, regional vegetables, etc... It’s true that many of those fruits/vegetables and livestock animals have been selectively grown or modified over time to be larger or fit a certain desirable quality, like tomatoes or bananas. But it’s still all fundamentally the same plants or animals that are made into the same things our ancestors made, like bread or wine or what have you. The fact that things like wheat, honey, fish, etc are referenced in places like the Bible, medieval manuscripts, and ancient Greek or Chinese texts is pretty mindblowing if you think about it. They’re the writings and observations of ancient people whose lives are so removed from the modern life we know, but they harvested and subsisted on the same plants and animals we still eat today.
I’m disappointed that you didn’t show the grain up close thru each step of the process. You told about process only. Basically the same exact process for any grain. You fell short. Sorry.
I worked in a grain elevator for seven years as a chief weigher. This is back during the Russian wheat deal. Mill operator didn't tell you you're fired for trying to leave after a 14 hour shift. Oh the rats, pigeons and owls. Conveyor belt fires always at the rollers. barley and oat chaf is a skin irritant. makes you feel like ants are crawling all over you. don't forget about the spills and over filled storage. grain dust always airborne. that was either a phony mill for they shut down and cleaned for weeks prior to filming.
My comment will based on my intention how can I get the grain I love it so much I want to make it my best food the country that has it is reach in good food products and blessed
I am a huge fan of oats and oatmeals. and when it comes to clean eating, the only oatmeal brand that comes in my mind is True elements, which is clean label certified, i would recommend true elements whole oatmeal to everyone
Steel-cut oats and rolled oats are both whole grains, but rolled oats undergo more processing, which can slightly alter their nutritional profile. Instant oats are the most processed and may have a higher glycemic index. Oat bran, however, is not a whole grain at all since it consists only of the bran and lacks the germ and endosperm. The FDA allows products labeled as "whole grain" to contain processed grains, however, so it's good for you to know the difference.
Oat husk. A great term for the WHOLE grain. And dehullers. Another great term. The kilning process means they cook it, and kill it and dehydrate it. So the husks and hulls are used for livestock feed. Livestock that evolved to eat grass, leaves and other living things, not dead stuff. Groat fraction and liftings. I've written a lot about pet food being made from material they didn't evolve to eat. Wild dogs and cats before they were domesticated, never ate a single oat groat or lifting. That did not happen until more than half way through the 20th century. Your pet did not evolve to accommodate oat groats or liftings in the last 70 years. Aspirating is another dehydrating step that involved the entire groat, not just the part (dust) removed for pet food. Beta Glucans - in this use, beta means passive - inert fibre as I've mentioned before. No actual nutritional benefit of any sort. It does have a minor mechanical function - that of causing irritation to induce colonic peristalsis - regularity in other words. Oats is good for that. But for most people the dust goes completely unnoticed by us, including by our colons. Remember the word passive? So beta in this sense also means filler. Glucans - means that glucose is (carbohydrate) a simple monosaccharide with a molecular formula of c6h12o6; it is a principle source of energy for cellular metabolism while glucan is (carbohydrate) any polysaccharide that is a of which is another way of describing subtly different sugars sharing molecular bonds. These are all SIMPLE SUGARS, just as I've been saying. It's so nice to have an industry stalwar,t, Terry, step forward and reveal more of what I've been saying is the bare naked truth isn't. So your oatmeal is what I said it was: and the exact same thing my Freestyle Libre says when I test my blood sugar after eating Oatmeal of any description. Let's not forget that the number of Americans with blood sugar disorders is getting on for nearly everyone. Using those numbers to determine who should and should not be consuming grain of any description comes out a zero. It's pretty obvious from the numbers that grains are a massive cause of blood sugar diseases in America. There is no other way to interpret the information in this video when you combine that information with the known medical data. The video isn't done yet. Let's see what else he says. Well that didn't take long. Stick to your ribs somehow equates to weight loss. How's that for an oxymoron? Good healthy food he says. The food he's talking about is stone cold dead. Nothing healthy about being dead. Every living thing besides humans eats live tissue of some description and Oatmeal does not fit that definition of food other than as a filler that causes blood disorders eventually. But people infer that healthy food means it will make them healthy right? Well it does right up until it does not, starting with tooth decay. How healthy is that? Tooth decay then gum disease, then periodontitis, which means bleeding gums and teeth falling out. Does that sound healthy to you? Bleeding gums is the launch pad for Covid-19 as well. Once a Covid Virion hits your oral oat slime replicates into your leaking blood, it replicates right into your blood stream through your damaged gums and from there is conveyed straight to your lungs where it can easily kill or maim you for what is left of what will be a really miserable and short life. Doesn't oatmeal sound yum, yum? We're not done yet though are we? No! They feed babies! Human infants that didn't evolve any organs to deal with the slime that comes with oatmeal. When you hear a baby with a wet cough, thing about whatever grains the baby has been forced to ingest. You know what the slime is right? It's the starches being released from the oatmeal because dead tissues cannot retain anything. So the starch starts to separate from the nutritionless fibre and becomes a starchy gel/slime. They don't like to tell you what that slime actually is but its the glue in glucan. Starch just a collection of sugars, THE LAST thing you should be feeding to an infant that needs breast milk. Terry, the narrator tells us oats sticks to us and helps us lose weight at the same time. You have to ask yourself what sort of weed this guy is smoking.
I was feeding my babies (2 years and 10 months) when I heard him mention food safety. It made my heart smile.

Wondering about how the oat is cleaned.
What is the other byproduct mentioned besides hulls, groats?

They are putting them through a "kiln" which is basically an oven. It's dumb. Creates acrylamide.
