- The CLK DTM is one of the rarest and most unknown Mercedes-Benz cars ever! Only 100 units of the Coupe were ever made, a car that celebrated the domination of the team in the DTM championship. While to many it's a 'secret' and largely unknown, to drive it's something really special, as I've been lucky enough to do at the Mercedes-Benz Museum Dream Cars event!
After immense successes in the DTM championships, following the 2003 win, the team at Mercedes went about creating a road variant to be put into desperately limited production. Only 100 Coupes and then 80 Convertibles were ever made, and of those only a handful were painted in the stunning deep red paintwork of this example retained by the Mercedes-Benz Museum having served duty back at the time on the press fleet. Bernd Schneider, 5 times DTM champion, played a significant part in the development of the car, along with the SLS AMG Black Series and more.
It's powered by the 5.4l supercharged V8 making 582hp (574bhp) and 800nm, a derivative of the engine found in the SLR, and capable of a top speed of 320km/h (200mph) with 0-100km/h (62mph) taking just 4.1 seconds, with the power going to the rear wheels through a 5-speed automated manual gearbox.
The exterior stands out thanks to the wide and aggressive arches over the normal CLK body shape, while the interior strips everything away leaving full carbon door cards and a rear bench of sheet carbon behind the support brace. Originally the car cost €236,000 and all were sold prior to reveal, but finding one on the current market is both very difficult and of course carries a hefty price tag.

The CLK DTM is one of the least well known, rarest Mercedes-Benz models to have been made. It celebrating their immense success in the DTM, and looks awesome with the wide arches and totally stripped out interior. Normally they are silver or black, but how good does this look?!

The old gen C63 was so savage.. bold lines, pure aggression with its wide wheel arches as standard and bonnet vents. The new style of merc with every corner rounded is disgusting

Honestly, that era, in general, has my favorite looking cars. The jaguar XJ8s of that time, the Ferrari 360s, these, etc. Love them. Truly the end of classic styling.

1:50 I am pretty sure that the DTM uses a 5G-Tronic with Speedshift. It is not an automated sequential manual transmission.

This is my favorite channel to watch out of all the car channel cause u actually drive the cars and talk us around its almost like being there with u. I like the other channel but they have gotten away from drive the cars its mostly show now. Keep up the hard work and keep being ur self. Cheers

The CLK DTM is a very, very special car. I remember when it was launched. The car is limited and the rumour going around at the time was that it was due to the Mercedes McLaren SLR... Both were launched at similar times and share a lot of engine commonality (more than either McLaren or AMG would care to admit). Whispers were going around that the DTM actually out-performed the SLR, so internal politics dictated that the DTM would have to have a limiter. Mercedes always denied this was the case, but it was always viewed internally as AMG's (two-fingered) response to the SLR (for a vastly different price point).

One of my favourite features of CLs and CLKs of this generation is the pillarless windows meaning once all four windows are down you have a giant opening on the side profile of the car which looks pretty cool.

Wow I drove this very car for a week back in 2004 or 2005 or something. Can't believe it still exists and now SHMEE is driving it. Haha crazy.
This seems infinitely cooler than the SL65 from earlier.. I kinda hope you can get your hands on one, one day.. It'd be rare enough that you most likely won't lose a ton on it in the long term and it's one hell of a vehicle .. as an aside.. i first saw this thing in Test Drive Unlimited from 13 years ago..

Almost thought this SLS Black was super special! But I now remember it is not the SLS Black, but instead the C63 Black, where the Solarbeam Yellow was shown on the press car but never actually made available to order. Stunning nonetheless
No love for the later model CLK63A? The 2008 model US only roadster was limited to 100 examples. “Only” 500 HP but it is a convertible and the 6.3 liter is a real blast. I always saw it as the German version of American muscle. I really love it from that perspective.
