Thank you!!! Was concerned I might have a hip impingement but thankfully(!!!) sounds more like it may be the hip flexor tendinitis you discussed (the flexor feels tense in hip area like in a guarding response...pain came out of nowhere as stood up after longtime sitting so would make sense)...what a relief!! I can not cross my right leg to a 90° angle only to a 45° because of tight muscles and a lot of pain. MRI and XRay are all good. The left side is good, cross my leg to a 90° with no pain. A note : im not a runner. 69 years young male. Thank you both again. God's Blessing you.

This video is incredibly helpful. I have Ehlers Danlos syndrome and Marfans (my parents have each but my twin came out with neither lol) and at 13 I was run over by a reckless driver going on the pavement and dislocated the hip after that I was diagnosed with EDS and told my hips were fine and shouldn’t hurt and now 13 years later it took for me taking up a medical sciences degree and radiology degree for me to look at my own images and self diagnose then bring it to them and now Wednesday I see the surgeon. I’m taking codeine, oxycodone and the lowest dose fentanyl patches for my joint pains but the drs somehow thought my hips wouldn’t help even though I blew life savings on physios, osteopaths, private care (we have free care in my country) but the private drs said I was lying and too young for my symptoms. I even saw Nick Cullen from the Stanmore foot and ankle surgeons page and he said my hips were causing my feet problems and so did 12 other doctors but my GP ignoring my concerns refused to do images they needed to treat me further and they’ve refused since 2016 despite more than 30 medical letters asking to 🙃

This is the best explanation of FAI I’ve come across. I have been in pain that has progressively gotten worse for about six years now. I was finally diagnosed with FAI and labrum tears in both hips. This problem obviously can’t be stretched or exercised away, but prior to my current diagnosis physical therapy did provide some relief, especially since I started getting aches and pains in other places the longer the issue persisted.
Hopefully once I see the orthopedic surgeon I can have the issue corrected and physical therapy will have a more effective, lasting impact afterwards.

Great video guys. Once again, timely. I just watched 4 videos including using that band to work out those injuries. Then I immediately came across your video 'Hip Impingement Causes Treatment and Test for FAS' (& this one) advising that you cannot fix bone growth, if the issue has advanced to this stage, but rather calm the area down and/or alleviate the associated tissue inflammation/injury. There is hope here for me yet, as I see your stretching techniques. Just one question: So far, no one has articulated the problem I have and that is that the leg feels really heavy and sore around the rectus femoris and through to the inner thigh (adductor). This results is pain to walk for several minutes, then it settles until I feel no pain and all. It comes and goes, switches on or off and lasts anything from one minute to half hour, sometimes preceded by a pain through the ITB area. What is going on here? I recommenced sprint training two months ago and on two occasions, thought I better not train, however, after training, the (left) leg felt amazing the next day, but relapses days later switching this pain on and off. I have started the friction massage and interestingly (intuitively actually) I was massaging this spot a couple of weeks ago, noting than it brings relief. I am taking celebrex (anti inflammatory) now for 11 days and doctor says keep going with that for a few more weeks. Any advice please ... Do I keep going, not train sprinting (except for rowing machine - cardio) and wait for a few more weeks, or just get an MRI? I am approaching mid fifties and when sprint training for 1500m (90% max), up to 400-800m timed runs, there is no better fulfillment as the freedom is great. I note also the pain is brought on by long periods of sitting down and/or long periods of standing up - never while warmed up and training. Sorry for the long post.

I hurt myself while squatting (I made the mistake of readjusting my hip while squatting) and I felt my thigh move/slide forward which caused hip pain and a pinch. I haven’t been able to get rid of the pain when squatting meaning I have to be careful not to slide forward with my hips (just gotta stay straight and go down, and that works without pain). I haven’t been able to find a cure, 10 years later I’m just learning what it could possibly be! The PT did say my hip is slanted slightly forward when laying down. And when I bend my (R) thigh I can feel the pinch. I will try strengthening my hips thank you for the exercises!

Wow.. This is the best explanation I've seen. My legs look like they're aligned exactly like that skeleton in the beginning, where my knee kind of caves in. I've always walked like a duck lol. Got into powerlifting where I was squatting way below 90 degrees and my hips are now wrecked. I am only 25 :(. Constant stabbing, aching burning pain deep inside my hips and they sound like meat grinders when I move my legs. Great explanation though. Hope I can avoid surgery and walk without pain

I was told about ten years ago I have hip impingement. Recently out of the blue, I began having upper thigh and groin pain. I couldn't even put pressure on one of my legs. Can that be a hip flexor problem too? Went to the chiropractor and it felt great after the adjustment, but the groin pain is slightly back again. Not sure if this is from the impingement or something else.

ANSWER: Hip impingement can happen for a number of reasons. If left untreated, the pain and other symptoms it causes may get worseas damage to the hip joint increases. ... Generally though, treatment options range from managing symptoms with medication and physical therapy in milder cases to surgery in more severe cases.

Always shut off "auto focus", especially when shooting closeups. Notice that the backwall is in focus, while the skeleton is not in focus, and then the other way, back and forth. That's autofocus not working well. Use manual focus to keep focus on the actual subject you are shooting, either photographing and/or videography.

Thank you guys, this video was very helpful. I am 24 from the UK. I started having pain in my hips a long time ago, went to the GP and he referred me to a physio. Unfortunately since health in the UK is free, I would have had to wait 6 months just to see a physio, let alone be diagnosed and have surgery. I've been living in China for 2 years now, went to the hospital a year ago, was diagnosed with hip impingement on both sides. Had surgery on one side, since you can't have it on both at the same time. The pain went away on that side, but I still can;t do extreme motions with it or do sports that I want to do safely. So I wasn't motivated to do surgery on the second hip till now, plus it's horrible having surgery, I hate hospitals and needles. Recently though the hip that wasn't operated on is giving me lots of pain. Would you suggest to operate on that one too or just do hip strengthening exercises and avoid sport?

To add to what you said I always figured if the psoas tendon/bursa gets swollen, inflammed or irritated it would be responsible for a large amount of these "femoroacetabular impingement" diagnoses. Maybe its just a psoas impingement in many cases

I've had popping and clicking in my hip evrrytime I move my leg, since I was a young teen. Now, in my late 30s, I have horrible hip pain. Will be talking to my physiotherapist about this. Seems I always have damage to only the right side.

Any chance ya'll could incorporate a Morton's toe, hip impingement, hallux limitus, weak ankle, flat foot, pulling sensation in knee, (all on the right side), with more advanced arthritis, (but not as much pain as other side),nmorton's toe, pain spreading to multiple finger knuckles and surrounding areas, numbing and sharp pains in both wrists/hands, (wearing guards for CTS at night and during work PRN), along with 4 bulging discs between L-1 and L-5? into one episode? Supposedly none of these issues (the discs and hips via MRI) are "significant". Perhaps, individually, none are. But having to live with all together and being forced to continue the physical labor day after day (after day after day.....), I can assure you, NOTHING is "insignificant" about the pain felt...from arising until unconsciousness. What does one tackle first? Will pilates (as recommended by a "top sports ortho surgeon"), help to cure most of these ailments? How can strengthening/increased mobility prevent the impingement from further tearing the labrum? For a background as reference; early 40's, female, city letter carrier (13+ years), 6 months of every year trudging through snow/over icy terrain, hills/snow plow piles, hundreds of stairs and 5+(+) miles 5 days per week, and carrying a satchel with an average of 5-20lbs. resting on left neck/shoulder, (but draped across upper body so opening is accessible on the right). Had chilectomy for Hallux limitus 15 months ago and arthroplasty on Hammertoe (on the little toe) on the same foot at that time. With pain failing to subside, had new xray done in Dec (13 months after surgery) and learned that cartiledge on 1/2 of joint is gone (now bone on bone...the greatest weight bearing part). The cartiledge was still there (as evidenced via xrays) at time of surgery. Now in custom orthotics, awaiting carbon plate insert (Next Monday). Will be having surgery to replace cartiledge in said toe if carbon plate doen't greatly improve pain in that area. Where did this all start? The Morton's toe? Am I just "lazy" or out of shape? I've been doing this job for 13+ years. Began experiencing intermitent pain in big toe 2 years into job. Hip began (painlessly) clicking around same time, pain beginning (again intermittently) approx. 2 years after clicking began. I am not "thin", but neither am I "obese". Please deomonstrate how it could all be related to one another and whether or not the sufferer is legitimate when describing the pain factors with each/all as they accumulate.

What about fixing the actual FAI though?

    Very good information.
I have been having issues with my hip area specifically inside (adductors?). I seem to be able to externally rotate my legs, but the internal rotation is difficult and quite uncomfortable. One thing that really bothers me is that I have great difficulty moving my legs across the mid-point line of my body. Seems like something is "pinching" way high up in my groin area. Same thing for "figure 4" when I place my right ankle across my left thigh; same "pinching" sensation. Up until 2-1/2 years ago I could sit cross-legged all the time w/o difficulty/discomfort; now not so. Is this "pinching" indicating hip impingement?
Any videos that might address this would be greatly appreciated.

Hey guys, after years of hip pain I got diagnosed with this in both hips, but it's worse on my left side. I'm seeing someone to discuss surgery soon as I'm in alot of pain and lost mobility.. Would you recommend using two crutches to help me untill then?

Is there any chance the hip impingement problem could be because of the psoas?
