    Thank you for this very detailed and technical video.
    I did the intervention on a dura ace which is very similar. Mine had an issue with the small shifting lever which was almost seized and caused the brake lever not to get back in place after brake release.
    Once disassembled the small pin which holds the lever can be pushed from the housing. I used a metallic bruch and some sandpaper to clean the rust and reassembled it. I hope it will last 10 years more.

    Excellent presentation! The presenter is very clear, shows each step and explains them. Congratulation on a job well done!

    Thank you for the video it helped a lot. You did not mention or show relocating the brake lever spring at the end when you refitted the lever. Best done before you finish locating the pin.

    Thank you so much for that video. I still had a lot of trouble getting the shifter working but that was because one of the little springs that push one of the pawls had slipped out of position. Once I hooked the arm of the spring on properly, and with the help of this video, it works perfectly again !! Yoohhooooooo!! 🙂

    Probably the only RUclips Bike maintenance influencer who is willing rebuild and entire sti lever. Inspirational viewing.
    GCN just spray GT85 into the internal shifter.
    Only negative of this video is the annoying ads every 3-4mins.

      In fairness after that generation of shimano they started using proprietary screws so its much harder to do so

    Very useful video. I hope I can fix my st-6703 since it doesn't shift either up or down. After looking this video and seeing those tiny parts, I hope no part is broken in my shifter otherwise no chance for fixing. Thanks for this wonderful tutorial!

    A heroic effort, thanks for sharing.
    Back in the day when I wrenched/toured/commuted/raced, the most complicated thing I worked on was a Sturmey-Archer 3-speed hub overhaul. This looks like brain surgery compared to that. It is a beautifully engineered piece of kit.
    Where were you 4 years ago when I attempted this on my older 6800, that's been sitting in a small box, in pieces, ever since?

    First, how do they come up with this? Second, how to do they mass produce it? Quite amazing.

    I wish there were a Disassembly video for this shifter like the other one. I have one that is broken I think But I don't really know where to begin with the disassembly to find the bad parts. Something is keeping the cable from going back into place after shifting into the lower gears. And jams in side the shifter. There is damage on the shifter so I think it has been crashed. The piece that the shifter cable seats in won't "go home" it does not sit the same as yours when you are assembling. Finally learned what those wires are in there.

    I'd be forever grateful if you could do one these for the ST-6600. I think I can handle this procedure with one of your extraordinarily detailed set of instructions. But, if my 6600 is significantly different than the 6700 internals, I think I'd end up with a pile of parts and no idea how to reassemble them. 🤣

    Is there a big difference with the other models of shifters in the inner small parts (Tiagra and 105)? Can I use the same order to collect the parts in shifters?
    Good vid ,,, thank you

    Hello, thanks for the great video! My left STI6700 has a defect spring. The spring shown at 11:26 is too long, not strong enough to pull back. Where can I get this spring. I measured d=0,45mm, l=10mm, D=4mm.

    Hi
    Dont you know, that the braking lever (2:02) can be diasseble without harm, or it is "one piece"? A spring broke in mine, but i dont know, that the main pivot pin is fixed in, or removable.
    Thx for answer.

    Hello, can you help me please? At 8:52 of your tutorial, you are inserting the part which receives the shifter cable. I have a problem with this. I didn't disassembly the lever, but only open the plastic cover with the two springs. Cleaning and moving the levers had the effect, that the part which receives the shifter cable stoped in the higher position and doesn't go in the lower position to the shifter cable entry. I have tried to fix but without success. Is there a way to solve the problem without disassembling the entire shifter? Thanks a lot and compliments for the very good tutorial

    • @GiorgioSnapy
      @GiorgioSnapy Год назад

      I give reply to myself :-) After having fun for a cuple of time trying to fix the problem, I realised there was no other choice than disassembling all. Then reassembling following your tutorial everything was fine. Thanks you.

    Is it just me or the whole part looks so utterly complicated compared with an Ergopower shifter? It's like some stuff from Star Trek and then just a delicate piece of art...

    I can rebuild a Sram shifter with a philips screwdriver and a pick in 10 minutes.
    Ergopower is simple to work on as well.
    This is just crszy.

    If nothing broken why not drop it in a bucket of oil for 24 hours, then take it out hang it up to drain off

    • @vlahovicsamira7084
      @vlahovicsamira7084 2 года назад

      Because oil will be washed out when you clean your bike or you service the lever without dismounting it, see GCN vidéo. Manufacture Grease sustains longer to rain and bike washing. 🌦️

    • @martinkarlovec

      Because oil is sticky, it is atracting dirt much more.
