    There is NO REASON in BEATING PEOPLE DOWN every chance you get!! This same thing (I hear) has been going on for decades! Personally, I really HATE having to go to the Post Office, it's the same OLD UGLY post office since I was little, a real depressing state the minute you pull up, with the flag pole making that awful noise, etc. VERY UGLY, and if you're not depressed before you get there, DON'T WORRY, you will be depressed by the time you get out of that dark, dreadful place!! Did I say I HATE the old ugly Post Office??

    I have been out of the post office for a year I was a CCA for 4 months and it was the most stressful time of my life! Bottomline supervisors have all the leverage you don't.. they control your life which basically means you don't have one and they will take advantage of you every chance they get. You’re lucky you had a chance to use the scanner to organize the parcels when you were a RCA. When I was one, I wasn’t allowed too. I was basically forced to use my own time to write down all the addresses in order to then go home and type them up to create a list of the route. I also ended up numbering them (total ended up being close to 550). Then I would use this printed list to organize the parcels so I wouldn’t miss one. That took me a couple of hours to do before leaving the P.O. I hated it. Another thing I hated about working as an RCA was the evaluated hours vs the actual hours - I hated working 12 hours one day but only getting paid for those 8 hours. That should be illegal. I wasn’t even done with my 90 day probationary period, so I have no clue as to why they did that to me. Honestly, I liked being a mail carrier. It’s fun when you’re out on the route, but the whole thing about not getting paid correctly really upset me and I just quit right away. I know the post master was upset but you know what, I was upset too! The work/balance was awful and then not being paid just made it worse.

    USPS!! Ruining our family life , my wife is working as PSE , and she doesn’t have any schedule, no time for family , kids ... she has to be ready to work anytime anywhere .. no appointments can be maintained, they use her personal car to tell her go this office to that, use her private phone ... what else we can say?

    • @EdiBeth
      @EdiBeth  5 лет назад +1

      That's why for people with other #1 priorities besides work, it just won't work out and that was my main reason, I had no time for my husband and kids and whenever I did, I was too tired and worn out. I hope things work out for your family whether she stays there or not.

    • @jaysixers

      @@EdiBeth our ARCs we had which I was one before I was a RCA would help alot but still when I would be assigned package routes during the Xmas season I would do 3 routes and by the time all packages were done 6 pm to 9 pm all the carriers would be long gone. This is getting started at 6 am and walking in to about at least 40 packages at least per route up to 60 because the carriers would try to pawn off on us the ones that they KNEW would fit in mailboxes. It was pretty sad. What's so funny you could throw me back on my K route after a year gone and I could still know the trace without directions. Btw where you subbing for a J or a K route?

    I am a PSE, and we have it a lot easier than carriers that's for sure, but even PSE is exhausting too. It just sucks overall and I wish they would get fine for the stuff they do to workers.
    They wanna work you to the bone, don't care if people drop dead from exhaustion or get sick or pull a muscle...disgusting place to work for. I am seeking a new job and will be sooo happy once I am out. I am glad you got out. God bless you and good on you, for reclaiming your life!

Might can't stand me because they can't treat me like a newbie. 8 days as a CCA and I'm already filing my first grievance against mngmt tomorrow. I'm at war with my station. Being a clerk is just as bad. It’s modern day slavery. The job isn’t hard but it is a lot. Very physically demanding. Christmas time for clerks is HELL! We have to sort & throw the parcels all while under stress bc the carriers have to be on the streets by a certain time. You start off as a PSE or some type of mail handler as a clerk & you don’t get any vacation time. You accrue annual leave but you’re on a 360-day work schedule. After 360 days, you have to take a 5-day break in service & the way you get paid for that is from whatever annual leave you have.. so if you’ve used it all, you don’t get paid. USPS in general is a trash company to work for. I’m 4yrs in & wish I would’ve left sooner!!

Leave that fear of applying for certain jobs at the door and go for it! I'd work from 7am to 10pm and still bring mail back!! For the interview just be yourself and be honest. You will mostly just be going over your applications so make sure you know all the info you entered in your application or profile & your answers & they might ask you how you would handle an unhappy customer. So practice that answer. The amount of people in a city won't affect you in any way. More importantly is your post office having enough hands & staff to distribute mail & parcels so the work load will be less and you'll have a better experience. You'll be getting training on driving the different postal trucks & tested. Make sure you know how to parallel park. You'll be going to the RCA academy & finally on the job training for a wk shadowing your regular which all of this you'll be paid for your time hourly. I hope your location is better than mine.
