Just to say. I litterally never played necro on D4 but played all the other classes. Just personal preference (mostly because he has not mobility skill like a teleport or something). And even knowing that, I continue to watch all your videos :) I like your way of playing and your work on mechanics analysis. Good job. Thx man With your Parangon, I can reach 1 billion damage I was stuck with King Pig build (WR Pit 120 with Bone spirit build) with just 500-700M per hit. Now, I think I can beat the WR with your parangon and some advise coming from King Pig build ! :D I wonder if aspect of ossified essence can be switched by aspect which spawn pool of blight under bone prison. It can be proc 20% damage multiplier and proc more often cooldown reduction from Decrepify (with damage per second). I will test to use Reapers instead of protectors skeletons to have a lot of more corpses with passive of reapers The build need to use raise all the time so Reapers can be easily stay alive or be reanimated

I have been leveling to 100 (at 92 now) with the earlier, tamer version of Bone Spirit (minion-free, Blight + Bone Prison, Bone Storm, Decrep, etc). Enjoying it a lot, my gear is fair-to-okay, but it's starting to fray around the edges a bit, especially as I push past L30 or so in the Pit. Out of curiosity, wanted to do something with the Deathless Visage instances that keep dropping on me, so I rearranged some things to keep me at the armor cap, dropped Blood Mist, added deathless Visage and Bone Spear. It helps that I found a pair of +4 Bone Spear gloves. I am finding this buys me a LOT of wiggle room with trash as my Bone Spirit cooldown management is still suboptimal. Completely melts mobs; still exploring the boss dynamics. I have all the uniques for the build you describe here, and it looks like a blast, so I will probably give it a spin pretty soon. Thanks again. Really appreciate you keeping us up to speed as your own thinking about these builds evolves.
The bug section was really helpful, i play bone spirit/spear hybrid and now I understand why my cooldowns on bone prison and bone storm goes down so fast ! Decrep isn't even required for that build anymore (apart for damage multipliers..) and I can't stand having to put on every necro build. I'll try to implement some of your ideas (requiem aspect mostly with bone prison) for that build ! Thanks for that great explanation as usual.
Love your build guides! Full minions may own this season, but I prefer ones like this that feel like you're actually playing. Currently running bone spear and having fun with it. Can't wait for your video on that ❤

Elixir of Resource!! +25 ess You likely were using it but i may have missed you mentioning it. Cadaver aspect for huge boss 1hits that stacks along side flesh eater, 1.1x for each corps upto 1.5x, fun for 1 hitting durial
How to pilot the build is cool so u can see how it actually plays 👍 a tldr version for the stats on builds would be awesome it’s just a lot to remember while playing and not looking at the guide every few minutes before trashing gear
The recommended boots, helm and chest piece is really really difficult to find. Even regurlarly checked item trading sites. The rest I got pretty much together. Can't wait to try it out ! Update: Tried it out. Survivability seems to be an issue. Most things one hit me at tier 100+ even normal trash mob hits at armor and resistance cap and around 30k HP. I can hit around 400-600 mio, which is nice though. Will play around with it a bit more.
Well.... Looks like I have more gear to look for while playing now. I enjoyed Bone Spirit last season and this looks even better and I still get to have some minions =)

@@MacroBioBoi After watching the video over a few times and experimenting myself, i can see the appeal of dropping it. I do think 3 points for all of what Bone storm offers (Especially with the updated Shielding Aspect) is a HUGE amount of value, but if you're already going to run the corpse tendrils aspect and possibly the Crit for Bone spirit aspect, then i would agree with you, you don't "need" it.

Hi so i tested the build, i make more dmg with shadow minions because of the 7 essence so its 35 essence. i tested with sacrifice the mages, but the dmg numbers way higher with them and the essence plus and iam always above 275 essence. so more dmg and consistent dmg, not every second hit without

Somehow all the builds I like this season don't use the Harlequin Crest! I'll probably still try this build with the Shako as I saw you use it in the bossing setup.
Hey, just wanted to put a plug in to ask blizzard to get rid of damage resistance. In higher tier pit pushing, like 120’s and onwards, it just ruins the fun of the game as I find myself either avoiding the mobs or spending 30 to 45 seconds pounding on them to no avail. Your thoughts?
I don't quite understand what's wrong. I swapped to this and get 1 shot in like pit 50's. Still armor capped, still res capped, but I lost to much life, almost 10k from swapping my pants out. Not sure if that's the reason considering Pit 50's are so low, I am totally lost as to why that is.
I now almost have all the gear pieces together except for the amulet. I had planned to go and fetch Duriel this weekend but life got in the way. Do you know when the build guide will be finished? I think this build can become very popular once it has a spot in the tierlist on Maxroll.

working like a charm tough I am old and couldnt get why we need ''your skeleteal mages empower you'' aspect on the helm ... also why we need core skills when we actually use none ... other then that all is explained like to a 5 years old :D
mmm interesting, i only use the skeletal defenders with 99% damage reduction and blood getter aspect + gruesome mending passive (i hate to use potions for healing) still i was able to do 300-400m per overpower bone spirit with non optimized gear, also conceited aspect instead swelling curse for more damage with bone storm but also my board is different too
Using your Bone Necro build on Maxroll with a couple tweaks. How much Cooldown Reduction do you have because I'd like to potentially drop Cooldown Reduction on my amulet for Essence per Second, but I noticed without Cooldown Reduction, even when casting Decrepify, there is still a pesky 1-2 second cooldown on Bone Spirit
Im really curious about sacrificing mages. The bonus you get is for an additive overpower damage increase. Using shadow mages gets you 5 mages at x3% damage each on top of the 7 essence for each mage. This 35 essence also gives us x4% on bone spirit. I feel like this has a significantly higher impact on our damage. What are your thoughts?
@@MacroBioBoi Overpower damage is increased by x35%, multiplicative yes, but it increases an additive stat. on my build its giving about +350% overpower. I feel like the double dip of x15% damage and an additional x140% on bone spirit would yield higher dps.
@@KitsuneDub that's just not real, and you're being mislead by your character screen. It's very easy to test this in game, I have a recent video covering this exact misconception.

You say you sac the Mages for Overpower buff, but in the gameplay you clearly use them, which would also make sense since it's more total Essence, right?

also consider that the mages die super quickly in high pits. the defenders live because of the 99% damage reduction, but keeping mages alive in a build not made for minions is much harder

It’s possible to push 120 with the mages with more ease than builds that sacrifice them as the damage is much higher. 2billion damage crits with mages vs. 1-1.5 billion max on builds without mages

In fact I firmly believe now that as the dmg difference is so high that mages will be able to out push defenders. Did you take the single most gear intensive setup and suggest that you add another avenue of scaling to it? I think you did. Buddy... if you can stack enough greater affixes and tripple crit them to test your meme, go ahead. Keep in mind that the mages will die in instantly.
@@thefilth7368 You can scale both with Crit damage instead of Bone Spirit temper if you go for 100% crit chance. And no, I'm not even talking about +Bone Critical Damage (if you know, you know). You will lose out on some Bone Spirit scaling though.

If you want the best build, nothing will beat minions. I don't put out build guides to make people switch builds. I put them out for people who want to play them, and I show the best version I can come up with.
Bone spirit always have been a very gear intensive, end game build. But contrary to blight and minions, I dont believe its worth to switch for, just for trying, if you dont meet exaclty the required stats

Can anyone explain to me how in his gameplay parts of the video, MacroBioBoi has full fortify? I haven't played necro much (lately, it's been sorc, for me and when I played necros before, they were always Blood) and I can't get my fortify to do much of anything following this build. I listen to the vid multiple times a day while I play, scour the paragon board planner, etc in case I am missing something but no luck so far. I am not finished with the build though. Have a LOT of better gear to get, etc but none of that will up fortify gain. I only see one lil passive in the skill tree for fortify gain and it isn't doing much of anything that I can see since the node also requires lucky hit but there is none of that in the build. I think I am just missing something? First time I have tried using a build from Macro so reserving judgement until I have finished paragon boards but I feel like I am missing something.
How much impact does amplify damage have if you already have a bunch of +% damage to cursed enemies from tempering? It seems like it would have pretty diminishing returns and might not be worth the skill points? I posted this before watching the gear part and clearly you aren't using +% damage to cursed enemies, oops
Any potential going beyond 1 billion hits? Considering dps, it still is not as good as other meta builds, though I really like the idea of bone spirit, always wanted to run it and this season is the most close implementation of my ideal that became possible. But if we can’t scale the damage further it seems that it will just get stuck at some point unfortunately. I assume without any buffs and updates for the necro this is not possible, right? Really wish necro gets more aspect slots like barb does…
I was playing around with shadowblight key passive and it seemed to get bigger bonus for the damage, but then we got a problem with the uptime of that passive which won’t be reliable for the single target if we don’t get a way to generate a tremendous amount of shadow damage per second. And also how much of a bonus does ossified key passive give you when you have 270 essence? Maybe it will be closer to the bonus of the shadowblight if you have more essence because my alt had around 200 for the test.
The damage could go to like 1.5-2 billion if you triple master crit everything you need but nobody is going to reach that realistically. Which is sad when you consider bleed barbarian’s literal every single tick of damage is in the billions lol
i think with absolutely perfect gear you can squeeze out a 2B hit (using bone prison and no bone storm) -- but as far as I can see that's just about the cap. I guess unless somebody finds a completely new and unknown multiplier that nobody else thought of so far, that's just the end of how far this can be scaled. I managed a 1.5B hit and I have i think another 4 skill ranks I could squeeze in with all tripe MW crits on the gear, and I have a bit more int to gain with all greater affixes, and I guess in the trial i was not fully fortified so that could scale a bit better still. plus maybe the overpower incense to get another little multiplier on top.... so yeah, you can drive this up into probably over 2B, but anything like the double or even tripe digits billions i don't see any way.
well, this build can hit 1billion bone spirit damage, I just managed to get that on mine and the gear is good but not optimal. that was with bone storm. I then tried adding in some fun with the bone prison as per your idea @macrobioboi and holy fuck, i managed to grab a video and a screenshot of a 1.5 billion hit on a dummy... WTF! however, for pits I can't imagine surviving without bone storm, but damn, that prison extra essence pushed me to 322 max essence and that apparently somehow boosted the damage like nuts to a 1.5B hit.... holy cow, I didn't think it would hit THAT hard
Playing with or without bolt elixier...? And why do you say you have crap equip? Its good of course not the very best with some missing or unfinished master working, but its by far better than the average player has...
yeah i have totally no idea whats going on, just managed to hit 550m on the test dummy .. 614m ... WTF is going on, up untill now my max hit had been 280mish .. changed from bone storm to bone cage (didnt put points in because of macarb skills) .. OK 640m no corps tendils WTF
changed 2 aspects and 3 skill points, changed from shielding storm and the 12 sec exrtra time, to higher crit chance and + ess, and blood getters, moved points from shielding storm to the thorns one, and movement speed.. ... changed nothing, hit 711m... im so confused

I didn’t know imperfectly balanced worked in a way where you just get the 15% more damage I thought it was “core” skills deal and cost more damage. Bone spirit is not a core skill
@@MacroBioBoi my minion necro has 52k hp and has shako and the 25% damage reduction aspect with both life elixirs I get 76k hp and have no problems with 122…
@@Devilchylde ohh, then do that instead. I don't get one shot at 35k except for big shadow boss attacks. So I don't think we're talking about actual one shots, and instead, dying quickly. But you need to dodge stuff eventually.

@@Devilchylde Well it is strictly better than Minion builds this season, and pushes further. But yes, when you get into the ultra endgame, you need to sacrifice survivability for damage and you will get one-tapped by the damage scaling of the pit. It's easier to feel tankier on minions, which you can also do here. Just sacrifice damage output for Max Life. If you're personally dying, put on more defensives.
Unique weapons really suck unless they are build defining especially on necro that only has one weapon slot You lose double powered tempers and a double powered power
Grandfather does not fit into this version, if you swap to tibaults will you can fit it, but then you lose a lot of wiggle room on gear and valuable tempers.
If u have it just try, because grandfather Is currently bugged and it gives More DMG than normal with necros and if u roll ga on all stats then u have a great weapon

One of the most fun builds is bone sprit I loved the infinimist bonespear build i had in like season 2 1 or 3 lol ;)

Bone spirit is a core skill, and blood getters give you a 21% damage multiplier.

Hey @macro, I noticed in the maxroll guide, you say Shako is Bis but it's never actually used. Why is that? Also what about Blood Artisan?
Shako is not best the BIS on the build when overpowering, which is what I say in the guide. And blood artisans is not good for the build.

How much Cooldown Reduction do you have because I'd like to potentially drop Cooldown Reduction on my amulet for Essence per Second, but I noticed without Cooldown Reduction, even when casting Decrepify, there is still a pesky 1-2 second cooldown on Bone Spirit
Atleast 10 cd on both helmet and focus

Im really curious about sacrificing mages. The bonus you get is for an additive overpower damage increase. Using shadow mages gets you 5 mages at x3% damage each on top of the 7 essence for each mage. This 35 essence also gives us x4% on bone spirit. I feel like this has a significantly higher impact on our damage. What are your thoughts?
None* of your sacrifices are additive bonuses. They're all new multipliers. Don't trust your character screen stats.
@@MacroBioBoi Overpower damage is increased by x35%, multiplicative yes, but it increases an additive stat. on my build its giving about +350% overpower. I feel like the double dip of x15% damage and an additional x140% on bone spirit would yield higher dps.

@@KitsuneDub that's just not real, and you're being mislead by your character screen. It's very easy to test this in game, I have a recent video covering this exact misconception.

The video is using mages because I don't have essence per second. The planner is what you ideally want.

also consider that the mages die super quickly in high pits. the defenders live because of the 99% damage reduction, but keeping mages alive in a build not made for minions is much harder

It’s possible to push 120 with the mages with more ease than builds that sacrifice them as the damage is much higher. 2billion damage crits with mages vs. 1-1.5 billion max on builds without mages

In fact I firmly believe now that as the dmg difference is so high that mages will be able to out push defenders. The 120 clear doesn’t even use defenders it uses reapers and investment into cult leader to improve their DR.

Have you tried getting this to work with Bone Mages with them casting Bone Spear? Do they also get the Banished Lord Talisman overpower buff?
Did you take the single most gear intensive setup and suggest that you add another avenue of scaling to it? I think you did. Buddy... if you can stack enough greater affixes and tripple crit them to test your meme, go ahead. Keep in mind that the mages will die in instantly.
@@thefilth7368 You can scale both with Crit damage instead of Bone Spirit temper if you go for 100% crit chance. And no, I'm not even talking about +Bone Critical Damage (if you know, you know). You will lose out on some Bone Spirit scaling though.
That would not benefit this build in any meaningful way. They'd randomly eat your buff, and your spirit would do trash damage.

You're killing me bro! I am still working on perfecting the shadow blight build you made a bit ago. Are you saying this build is better than that one? I am looking for anything other than the meta golem build.
If you want the best build, nothing will beat minions. I don't put out build guides to make people switch builds. I put them out for people who want to play them, and I show the best version I can come up with.
Bone spirit always have been a very gear intensive, end game build. But contrary to blight and minions, I dont believe its worth to switch for, just for trying, if you dont meet exaclty the required stats

Can anyone explain to me how in his gameplay parts of the video, MacroBioBoi has full fortify? I haven't played necro much (lately, it's been sorc, for me and when I played necros before, they were always Blood) and I can't get my fortify to do much of anything following this build. I listen to the vid multiple times a day while I play, scour the paragon board planner, etc in case I am missing something but no luck so far. I am not finished with the build though. Have a LOT of better gear to get, etc but none of that will up fortify gain. I only see one lil passive in the skill tree for fortify gain and it isn't doing much of anything that I can see since the node also requires lucky hit but there is none of that in the build. I think I am just missing something? First time I have tried using a build from Macro so reserving judgement until I have finished paragon boards but I feel like I am missing something.
You can use reaper skeletons to generate corpses and that generates fortify, of you're currently struggling to do so.

How much impact does amplify damage have if you already have a bunch of +% damage to cursed enemies from tempering? It seems like it would have pretty diminishing returns and might not be worth the skill points? I posted this before watching the gear part and clearly you aren't using +% damage to cursed enemies, oops

The ideal setup doesn't need mages to hit essence requirements. My gear in game is not yet ideal.
What I don't understand is in the gameplay part you had skeleton mages, but you sacrificed them for 20% overpower damage 🤔
Any potential going beyond 1 billion hits? Considering dps, it still is not as good as other meta builds, though I really like the idea of bone spirit, always wanted to run it and this season is the most close implementation of my ideal that became possible. But if we can’t scale the damage further it seems that it will just get stuck at some point unfortunately. I assume without any buffs and updates for the necro this is not possible, right? Really wish necro gets more aspect slots like barb does…
I was playing around with shadowblight key passive and it seemed to get bigger bonus for the damage, but then we got a problem with the uptime of that passive which won’t be reliable for the single target if we don’t get a way to generate a tremendous amount of shadow damage per second. And also how much of a bonus does ossified key passive give you when you have 270 essence? Maybe it will be closer to the bonus of the shadowblight if you have more essence because my alt had around 200 for the test.
That's a true statement of every build. They all have actual maximum damage scalability.
The damage could go to like 1.5-2 billion if you triple master crit everything you need but nobody is going to reach that realistically. Which is sad when you consider bleed barbarian’s literal every single tick of damage is in the billions lol
i think with absolutely perfect gear you can squeeze out a 2B hit (using bone prison and no bone storm) -- but as far as I can see that's just about the cap. I guess unless somebody finds a completely new and unknown multiplier that nobody else thought of so far, that's just the end of how far this can be scaled. I managed a 1.5B hit and I have i think another 4 skill ranks I could squeeze in with all tripe MW crits on the gear, and I have a bit more int to gain with all greater affixes, and I guess in the trial i was not fully fortified so that could scale a bit better still. plus maybe the overpower incense to get another little multiplier on top.... so yeah, you can drive this up into probably over 2B, but anything like the double or even tripe digits billions i don't see any way.

well, this build can hit 1billion bone spirit damage, I just managed to get that on mine and the gear is good but not optimal. that was with bone storm. I then tried adding in some fun with the bone prison as per your idea @macrobioboi and holy fuck, i managed to grab a video and a screenshot of a 1.5 billion hit on a dummy... WTF! however, for pits I can't imagine surviving without bone storm, but damn, that prison extra essence pushed me to 322 max essence and that apparently somehow boosted the damage like nuts to a 1.5B hit.... holy cow, I didn't think it would hit THAT hard

about 21% damage multiplier and around 28% of your health refilled over a few seconds
yeah i have totally no idea whats going on, just managed to hit 550m on the test dummy .. 614m ... WTF is going on, up untill now my max hit had been 280mish .. changed from bone storm to bone cage (didnt put points in because of macarb skills) .. OK 640m no corps tendils WTF
changed 2 aspects and 3 skill points, changed from shielding storm and the 12 sec exrtra time, to higher crit chance and + ess, and blood getters, moved points from shielding storm to the thorns one, and movement speed..
... changed nothing, hit 711m...

I didn’t know imperfectly balanced worked in a way where you just get the 15% more damage I thought it was “core” skills deal and cost more damage. Bone spirit is not a core skill

@@Devilchylde ohh, then do that instead. I don't get one shot at 35k except for big shadow boss attacks. So I don't think we're talking about actual one shots, and instead, dying quickly. But you need to dodge stuff eventually.

@@Devilchylde Well it is strictly better than Minion builds this season, and pushes further. But yes, when you get into the ultra endgame, you need to sacrifice survivability for damage and you will get one-tapped by the damage scaling of the pit. It's easier to feel tankier on minions, which you can also do here. Just sacrifice damage output for Max Life. If you're personally dying, put on more defensives.

Unique weapons really suck unless they are build defining especially on necro that only has one weapon slot
You lose double powered tempers and a double powered power
Grandfather does not fit into this version, if you swap to tibaults will you can fit it, but then you lose a lot of wiggle room on gear and valuable tempers.
If u have it just try, because grandfather Is currently bugged and it gives More DMG than normal with necros and if u roll ga on all stats then u have a great weapon
