I’ve seen someone saying that they’re only pretending they like yaelokre to get more followers. Another reason I believe people are starting to dislike yaelokre is because others may want to be unique. They hate on things that are seen as popular. I love yaelokre and their music. Yaelokre is an indie artist and having so many people say stuff about their music can damage and stop the project

History repeats itself, even (and especially) on the internet. fandoms always have that burst in to fame phase, and like fire it slowly dies down and becomes more approachable, it's just how it is, some fandoms take longer to calm down, some are quicker but thats usually how it goes. You also have to look where you are engaging with the fandom, with tiktok it seems (from an outsider view) that things can be rather intense and often drama happens. This may not be the best example, but i've often seen fandoms that are seemingly dead in other places thriving on Tumblr, they surely aren't as big as they were but they are pretty alive there in their own little spot. You can also do your part to keep the fandom alive and happy, post your commentary, your ocs, find a nice group to engage in and go from there!

This is why fame sucks. Yaelokre is an extremely talented person. Not only are they a great musician, singer, and song-writer. They're also a talented storyteller, artist, animator, and performer. And at a young age too. Very few people have the kind of talent that they do, as well as the motivation to actively pursue their talents and make a living off of it. I ABSOLUTELY believe that all the love and praise they've received is deserved. I'll admit that I personally got sucked into the fandom VERY quickly. I watched one of their music videos (Heartebeast), and that was it. I was instantly hooked. I'm a huge fan of folk music, animation, cottage-core aesthetic, and fantasy media. And Yaelokre is like the perfect middle of the venn-diagram for the things I like. I spent the next 3 days watching pretty much all of their RUclips videos and Instagram stories, and downloading all of their songs on Spotify, completely sucked into the story they were telling with their characters and music. But with all of that said...when literally any fandom becomes large, there are going to be toxic people. This is just the sad truth of fame. So many talented well-meaning people who create beautiful, inspiring content, end up having toxic fandoms just because of the sheer size of the fandom. If you have a thousand chickens there are bound to be a few bad eggs. As a writer/artist myself it's part of why I'm often anxious about openly publishing anything I make. Obviously most creative people dream of the day they might "make it big", but "making it big" often comes with some big negatives too. At best it can be annoying and stressful, and at worst it can be genuinely terrifying and completely dream-crushing. So it makes me really upset to hear that there are toxic people in this fandom, and that already there are people saying they hate the fandom because of those toxic people. The content that this creator makes is so sweet, innocent, and fun. I feel like it captures the spirit of being told fairytales as a child. And their sound is so unique. I think the closest comparison that I can make is that their music kinda sounds like if AURORA and Of Monsters and Men got put in a blender. But even with that said, there is still an undeniable originality about them that sets them apart from other folk artists. I completely understand why so many people have suddenly flocked to Yaelokre, their story, and their music. But a part of me genuinely feels bad that Yaelokre has so much fame, in the sense that they're now having to unfairly experience the down-sides of it. And it isn't their fault. Some fandoms have toxic creators. This is definitely not one of them. There are just a bunch people being gross and annoying and immature, and we need to deal with those people. But I don't think Yaelokre or the fandom as a whole deserves hate, because Yaelokre is super talented and the vast majority of us fans are just here to admire that talent. I really hope this doesn't get them too upset, and that they don't let a few bad people ruin their well-deserved fame.

i had no idea this was even a thing, i only listen to one song by them and its harpy hare because its a genuinly good song to me, but then i see like 50 acct suddenly pop up out of nowhere all with pfps of it from people i know have never even expressed a intrest in the music or anything. its so weird to me to thing so many people jump on and off stuff so fast. another thing like this is BNHA or MHA its a good show with good characters but people now can no longer seperate it from the fandom, i dislike the fandom of mha but i genuinly like the characters and relate to some of them mainly denki kaminari but its hard to express this without getting shit for it because of the fandom. people need to get their head on straight A SHOW AND A FANDOM ARE TWO SEPERATE THINGS not everyone who likes a show with a bad fandom are bad. theres also undertale, if you know the Undertale AU amino im so sory for you. it was so toxic, i actually got off amino completly because of it but i dont fw the FANDOM the game is cool its a great game and intresting too. people are the problem. and surprise surprise not all people are the same. get over yourselves and stop hating anyone who likes a 'cringe' show or game.

I discovered harpy hare and hartebeest a little bit before it became a big thing, really just enjoying the calm fairytale-esque songs and interesting art. Ive tended to stray away as the new fandom grows, mostly because it feels like something bad will happen as does with many fast-coming fast-ending trends or fandoms :(. It also tends to be a bit sad when every fan video only uses one song from the creator. As of now, i think there’s only about 5 songs, but the 5 are all good. I’d really appreciate seeing more videos featuring them. In short, as i read someone else here state, a lot of fans just feel fake and jump-on-the-bandwagon types. Sad thing, really, that this can all be forgotten in maybe 5 or less months.

I have only joined the Yaelokre fandom a couple days ago, maybe a week and a half ago. It's a super cute concept and the creator is such an amazing artist! I have not made any mutuals in this fandom except for my current friends who also like the fandom, and I encourage others to make friends with those who share interests! I've seen some people talking about how the fandom has taken other fandom's signature ideas such as the cricket system and the star on the hand-- The cricket system was an obvious Dabloon trend system, while some are upset how the star on the hand was taken from the Therian community's paw on hand for when school started. These are valid things to be upset about, honestly! It's quite sad how quickly the fandom turned sour, especially since Yaelokre has stated that they were upset with how popular it grew in such a short amount of time without them even putting out anything significant, AND about how people were disrespecting their boundaries and still are disrespecting their requests. But genuinely, I think this fandom will survive it's short fallout when the trend of liking it comes to a slow!
Unrelated, but your art is beautiful! The way you formatted the video was helpful to understand more of what was going on. Thank you for going over this topic!

I think theres something to be said about people continually "fandom-izing" every up and coming creator they see. This started with Welcome Home, where it was just one person's personal OC project and spiraled into an entire fandom and now there are bootleg Wally plushies selling on Temu. Personally I think fandomizing any small creator is inherently weird, you can be a fan of someone but at what point does it cross the line into the territory of now becoming possessive over someone else's work? If I posted a comic about my OCs on TikTok or something, and it blew up and people started calling themselves a part of a "fandom" relating to me and my work, I would be VERY uncomfortable. This isn't even mentioning the proshippers who Yaelokre has already had to speak about.
I just don't understand why every single new interesting piece of work has to instantly become a fandom, to me it just seems like a lot of these people wish THEY were the ones who made the original art and now want to capitalize on it. Why don't we all just calm down for a second and realize Yaelokre is ONE normal person posting their art. People upholding these "fandoms" tend to think they have some sort of claim or possessiveness over the original art and artist and that simply isn't true. Honestly I hope that the next time a small artist blows up and people start being weird that they just private all their work because y'all will get WAY too comfortable and disregard any and all boundaries if it means you get more content of your blorbos.

5:09 this is such a good point. For example, alfred’s playhouse is both controversial AND it’s thought to be a vent piece by the girl who made it back in newgrounds days, but now people just see it as a cartoon dog who’s got eric cartman style thoughts, and think it’s cool to idolize the mc and put him in a better light. Newer fandoms like yaelokre could not even scratch the SURFACE of “controversy”, which is why I’m so tired of people saying it’s controversial. You’re gonna have bad apples in every fandom no matter what, it all comes down to whether the artists/poster let’s it run rampant and validates the bad side of the fandom, or if they decide to put their foot down to draw a line.

The actual tweet was Yaelokre stating they didnt like the RULES of the cricket system, that people should enjoy the fandom how they want to enjoy it. Ironically, this tweet just led to people policing others enjoyment even more. And to that ive joked that the entire reason the fandom is so big is cause you dont gotta read, only listen /j/j.

I think the biggest catalyst for these issues that made it get so bad is the fact that a lot of the people in it are young, like 10-14. Kids like that don’t really have much experience in fandoms so they try to ‘protect’ it from being problematic- anyone who’s been in a lot of fandoms like me will know this is impossible. They then usually get upset when they can’t protect it, while drastically overexaggerating things like the crickets and ‘draw a star on your hand’ thing. Not that all younger fans act like this, but a vast majority do. I also found the fandom through Tiktok
TLDR little kids exaggerating things is a big issue in the fandom

I'll give it 1-2 months maximum. I just wish trend hoppers weren't so consistent in fandoms, considering that they usually leave stains on the Fandom because they sometimes do bad things which end in damaging the Fandom and media's reputation, which sucks. It goes popular by genuine fans - trend hoppers come in and make it popular - trend hoppers start unnecessary discourse - trendhoppers go away when they eventually get bored and start making hate posts about it. It really sucks to see so many actual good indie projects get hated on all because people want to seem trendy and cool.. People should learn to engage with media they like, and leave the media they aren't interested in alone. It's pretty simple to do

Let her live her life, she did nothing wrong, its just a person who wants to make people feel better and shes doing ehat she wants.

i dont understand why people feel the need to hate on something the second it randomly becomes popular, at least its gone towards real talent. nobody is asking you to like the music, but hating isnt going to fix anything.

tThankfully, I never joined the Yaelokre fandom because of its popularity. In all honestly i simply ignored them at first because I had not been interested in it. I only got caught up because of the beautiful art and wonderful music! I despised it when people immediately called it "problematic." It had just started to set its footing and I find it hypocritical and weird for people to call it that so quickly. I heavily dislike how much people jump on the hate for something new, It's damn pathetic. I get that the fandom right now is at a low point, and I can pretty much guarantee that the popularity will die down soon enough. (i doubt i'll ever be leaving since they have become one of my favorite artist) but it’s no excuse since some of these fans are actual children, I get why some find this fandom “cringe” but honestly, people who can’t find the fun in something like this; and simply defaults into bullying, is boring. Again I 100% understand why some have an issue with it, but let us grow as a fandom! Small or big.

Thank you very much for talking about this situation I’ve been following yaelorker since late 2023 and early 2024 on Facebook so before everything blew up and for the most part, the fandom was kind of hidden away for a while until things blew up and if I’m gonna be honest, I enjoyed it that way a little bit better yes, I do like seeing a bunch of the art people make, and everybody coming together and enjoying their music but there as well but at the same time, it definitely made things a bit more difficult and has changed a lot of things and how the fandom maneuvers if you genuinely don’t like music or don’t like whatever you don’t like about yealorker you can simply just scroll also just to point out on every social media app. There is a button that you can press that is called not interested and you won’t get recommended those type of videos or slideshows as for the cricket system be mature about it. It’s simply something to use as a little silly gesture you can do online. There’s no need to push it and no need to get so upset about it if we don’t want the fandom to die out then we need to do better. We don’t wanna end up like welcome home.

my main issue with the fandom was after yaelokre stated their dislike for the cricket system, the older fans started making rules that hindered creativity and judging the minors in the fandom for enjoying a media they enjoy. Yaelokre said we have no right to tell someone how to enjoy a media, and it was like people did the exact opposite. Its not just the cricket system. It was heart breaking to see a post from someone saying they were scared to make an oc because they saw someone saying its against yaelokres wishes, not to mention some fans are scared to make headcanons.
My point is, after yaelokre spoke out about the sudden rise in the fandom and the issues that came with it, people jumped immediately into making rules and judging how people enjoy the media, scaring away fans who wanted to participate in the fandom. It seemed like everyone ignored "-and none of you have the right to say nor inform others how to enjoy a piece of media, especially one built upon childlike wonder."

    People need to calm down
It’s a fun creation that you can see has a worlds worth of effort put into it!
The creator is incredibly skilled, people should acknowledge that instead of trying to be unique by pretending not to like Yarlokre just because it’s popular.
It’s fine if it’s genuinely just not their thing and they’re not hating, but people who actively hate and support hate towards the project are not okay. Rather, their behaviour is not okay.

It's scary how fast all of this happened! I knew of Yaelokre WAYYY before getting popular (friend of a friend). I remember waiting for Harpy Hare to release and begging everyone I knew to give it a listen because of how criminally underrated it was! Now I'm seeing people with profile pictures of the Harkers and running into fans in the wild? I'm happy they're finally getting their work recognized, but I hope all the "drama" around the community settles down soon. I've only chatted with them a few times online, but they're genuinely one of the nicest people I've talked to before, and to see all this toxicity around them is just sad.

one issue i take with this video is that proshipper is a very broad term which you have used to describe a tiny group of people. a proshipper is exactly what it sounds like: someone who believes in shipping what you want to see and ignoring what you don't. for instance, the mha fandom is notorious for being extremely hostile to anyone who ships something other than what the community sees as right. a proshipper dislikes this.
and yes, being a proshipper also (usually, if you're not a hypocrite) includes taboo topics, but only a very very small group of them mean harm and are actually bad people. lots of people make art about minors to cope with their own trauma, for instance, or write about dark topics to contrast an otherwise wholesole fandom. this is also proshipping.
