6 Things We've Learned in 6 Years of Marriage

- Hey friends! We recently celebrated 6 years married, and while that might seem like a short amount of time to be wedded together, in this day and age we consider that a miracle by God’s grace. We’ve learned a few things along the way in our journey of marriage and have compiled a list of 6 things we’ve been really honing in on and (should) have as routine patterns in our lives at this time. Milena- when Jordan compliments you, RECEIVE it! 😊 I was the same way before, when my hubby complimented me (which is a million times a day) I would ALWAYS brush it off every. Single. Time. like “Oh thanks but I look like crap!” Or “what?! My hair is so greasy!” Or “Ew no I need to shower” etc. And then it finally hit me- it doesn’t matter how I feel or what I think of myself in that moment. My husband is showering me with compliments. Accept it lovingly and flirty, and even give one back! It’s a much more feminine quality to simply say thank you instead of trying to tell them why you didn’t deserve the compliment 🥰♥️

My husband does this all the time and it makes me sad because I’m literally telling you what I think about you and if you don’t receive it, it’s like you don’t believe me 🙃
I'm sure she does, privately. I guess it depends when and where it happens.
@@MegaTelenovela oh I’m sure haha! I didn’t mean this in a negative way at all! She’s such a beautiful women 😊 I just like to encourage women to receive compliments instead of turning towards self-deprecating humor! (which is honestly what most of us do!!)

100% on the mini series. My husband and I have been struggling to find a church in our small town due to this issue. We’ve been there done that with the “practical life skills as a Christian” teaching, which is fine, but we want more than that. There are so many things the church chooses to avoid or skim past these days due to cancel culture or to avoid conflict, so I’m all for diving down that path of the “taboo” things the church doesn’t often speak about. Love you guys, super excited for this!
The mini series is literally everything my husband and I have been talking about recently!! Even as specifically as the giants y’all talked about so I am all in to hear y’all’s perspective on the spiritual realm!
Also, a mini series on submission would be AMAZING!! Being a more newly wed couple my husband and I have talked about this a lot and it’s hard to find a lot of good advice and answers about this because the world has made submission synonymous to slavery.
I think the reason the ‘never go to bed angry’ is such important advice is that you never know what could happen overnight. My grandparents argued very frequently and one morning my grandad didn’t wake up - he had passed away in his sleep from a completely unexpected heart attack. He was only 60 years old and my mum was in her teens at the time. It was a total shock. My grandma told my mum later on how relieved and happy she was that they hadn’t been fighting the evening before he passed, as they would often go to bed without resolving things. My parents have been together since they were 17 (30+ years) and have always tried to follow the ‘never go to bed angry’ advice because of that.
The supernatural mini series is such a good idea. I’ve been really struggling with how to view and understand the spiritual world. My main struggle is not knowing when God is speaking to me vs when I’m getting lied to by the enemy. Or if I’m just talking to myself. It’s been hard tbh. Like how much influence do they really have over us? What are their limitations? Can they control the weather? So. Many. Questions.
Your spouse is the best mirror of yourself. If they say you are acting a certain way or making someone feel something... it's the purest form of reflection. 3yrs married 6yrs together today.
I would be SO BEYOND HAPPY if you guys made a series about all those things!!
Bring on the next 7 weeks, team! My family and I are so blessed to hear unbelievable teachings on the supernatural and the mysteries of the Bible now - but before finding Godly leadership, we were lead astray by online communities that didn’t have a true picture of what God was truly saying. I’m praying for your discernment as you prepare to speak truth of God’s Word!

Side note: I’m in tears right now because God is teaching me ALOT in life, marriage, motherhood and I have y’all to look up to and I’m so grateful! I have prayed for over a year for community and I now have community with woman in christ!!! And it’s changed my life!! And I feel God has been pushing me to read the book of Esther for weeks, im hearing it on the radio, in podcasts everywhere!!! And now i find out you’re releasing a Bible study of ESTHER tomorrow! To tell you I screamed when I heard that would be an understatement! I’m so so excited!!!! And can’t wait to do it together!!!! I have prayed to have the chance to meet you and just hug you so hopefully one day!!!👏🏻🤞🏻❤

I’m so here for this mini series!! Something I have learned In my husband and I marriage (5 years) Is choose love always and don’t ever be afraid to be the first to forgive. Also when something bothers you speak up and don’t let that fester or try and fix it on your own because it never works to fix things on your own. Your spouse is your person!
We are the “Church” we are the Body of Christ! Everyone that is saved, and preach the Word of God is the Church. The Church was never supposed to be 4 walls… You are the Church! ❤ Thank you for doing your part in the Body of Christ, and preaching the Good News, which we are commanded to do.

Something I've learned as a young married woman , is that, for a long time I wanted my husband to open up more , tell me about his day, and just , talk with me more . He did and still does communicate with me for sure. But i mean, i wanted him to really have more conversations with me . I realized one day while talking with him, that I was talking almost nonstop, and also I wasn't really listening to all he was saying . I've learned for myself with my husband , at least , to be more patient , be inquisitive and interested more in What he is talking about , and be slower to speak and more quick to listen. So now , when I slow down a little, and listen , he ends up telling me all kinds of things and I genuinely love our conversations more. It's crazy but even over the phone , for example, I saw I was dominating the conversations, and I felt I was not submitting to him by doing that , I was also convicted of overtalking and interrupting him which I'm still working on. But when I allowed for awkward pauses and I actually let him speak, then in turn of course I would have my round to share what was on my heart , it just felt so much more fulfilling and we've had more laughter, love , and also serious conversations with each other than before . It is very important how you choose to talk to and listen to your spouse . Also See James 8 :8
I believe we cannot tame the tongue but through God's power we can tame the tongue.
All in for the mini series ♥️🙏🏽 as a catholic, I would love to hear more of that among Christians. I feel that even if not enough people wanted the mini series, it should still be done if it’s something you guys feel the lord is having you all talk about. Love y’all

I grew up in a church where the supernatural was a big focus. On one hand, I’m thankful for it, as I feel like I know so much and have a good amount of wisdom concerning these things - however I have just seen it taken too far unfortunately. Because of that; I’m always a little cautious. I think it’s interesting and important, but I do believe that sometimes the enemy can get in through it and make it a bit of an idol in the church. Almost where were focussing so much on the enemy and demons, that we miss what’s important and we miss Jesus.
I don’t think it’s wrong to learn about it and to research it, but I do think we need to go about it wisely and with discernment.
The mini series is such a good idea! Those are things I wonder about and want to discuss all the time and would love to hear you guys talk about it

I truly love the difference you can visibly see in you, the work you have put in with your savior. It is proof of the fruits that come with it.
I am currently trying to do the same. I unfortunately feel a bit defeated with an ongoing list over my head of what I don't like about myself and how I act. I see change but whenever I go back into my old ways (or my old fiery tongue) I'm so discouraged.

31:00 I would be cautious about having sex as a coping mechanism of diffusing an argument because there are many people who take that the wrong way as in having sex and then moving on without discussing and having a conversation about the argument that happened. It needs to be emphasized that communication skills need to be there too

Love the idea for the mini series!! I love that topic and I truly believe studying those things actually strengthens your understanding and knowledge of the bible + your relationship with God. There is SO much more to the bible + the spiritual realm than people realize. Sadly, I feel like the modern church dumbs it down at times. Also, have you ever listened to the podcast Blurry Creatures? They do a great job of going deep on this topic. My favorite guest they've had on the show is Dr. Laura Sanger.

Something I have learned is there is wisdom in discerning the proper time to bring up a hurt or misunderstanding to your partner or even just in any relationship. A lot of times it goes over much better when they aren't super tired and stressed. It is so hard to control your own emotions, but the more effort you put towards this the easier it becomes. And sometimes you'll realize that it wasn't that important all along and you saved your marriage from an unnecessary conflict ❤
This goes along with taming the tongue, which is only possible by having the Holy Spirit.
