David, I seriously respect you for just being content with your car and not wanting more and more, as a viewer, and someone that looks up to you, that's a really respectable trait to have.

You just gained a lot of freaking respect, about the whole content thing. I feel like everywhere car enthusiasts are out there modding just for the sake of modding, and constantly searching for something faster and better. I have found myself wanting more at times too, but the reality is there is nothing wrong with being content. The reality is there will always be something faster and better, and that need will never be met. I feel like this contentment is something rare in car culture

I think one of the reasons why people ask if you're selling Smurrf is that they are worried about what would happen if you did get rid of it. Think about it, you're known for this car, everybody knows about the Smurrf 'Stang. I love the car. Never sell it, keep it until the wheels fall off of the thing. Keep up with the good work David, you're an amazing individual.

The way David describes his content-ness with his 5.0 is how I describe my level of satisfaction with my 328i e92, even though its not one of the fastest cars or most stand out cars I'm more than happy with it and the the ammount of usable power in it just makes me smile everyday. Thats how you know you really found a great car, when your just so happy with it that you have plans to just drive it, nothing more nothing less. Great update glad to hear the cars going strong :D

8-Bit I got a 2012 model alpine white exterior with the m sport package (M3 Body kit and Suspension+Badging and sports seats) and red interior with the idrive system. The car's coupled with an xDrive system and dct transmission due to the fact that I need to daily it and have a high traffic commute. I got mine with about 49k miles for about 25k usd and then opted for the a 5 year gold extended warranty from the dealer for another 5k. So overall was about 30-31k usd. Great purchase overall, a great ammount of space in side and in the trunk (keep in mind im 6'2) but my only real downfall with the car is that i get pretty bad mpg because my heavy traffic stop and go commute plus the suspension while great for cornering and handling really makes you feel the roads imperfections and can be a bit harsh if your not used to low cars. Also the frameless door design can be a downfall too if you plan on parking it outside when it snows. Other than that great car all around. Would also consider and evo x mr or gsr if you're into that scene/car.

I don't understand how people can baby their car by driving it to and from work and that's it. Me? I go around the entire province with my car! I love driving. Doesn't matter where to and for how long. The more KM's that rack up on the odometer, the better. It's actually the complete opposite, by driving so many things it let's me learn and "stand on the sidelines" of what I actually don't want to do. Most of the cars on the channel have been huge money pits and many problems. Few are still in the state they still are in when I drove them. But it also shows what I do want to do as well!

That's so true. I got a Foxbody that I bought for $1500, but to make it into something awesome you'd have to spend multiple times the purchase price, and even then something could blow up and cost you more than the car is worth. Reliability is very underrated.

I loved my 2004 GT Leela, but I am so happy with the coyote. The car is light years better than my old new edge. I plan on doing an intake, exhaust, and tune. that is it. I can say I will be content.

Unreliable car that has been surprisingly reliable
My first car was a 1991 camry but i got bored of it quickly and wanted an upgrade, about a year ago i bought my second car that's now my daily. 2007 mk5 gti dsg, i bought it with 130k miles, not running for $4000, but it seemed like a good deal. It was in my back yard a few months until i had enough money to repair it, lucky all it had wrong was the alternator and i just changed it. Then a few months later it had the stereotypical electrical problems so i just took it to a trusted mechanic and it luckly was just a few fuses that suddenly blew, then i just changed the cv axles and its been running *Knocks on dash* surprisingly well, NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT!!!

IAMJAKETRIMBLE I brought a 2004 gti with 130k on it and before hearing that Rule and I can see why that is. Yes older cars can have some issues but I've been problem free and I race the car and drive it in the winter when it was -10 outside and 6inches of snow. I know my experience isn't typical but several of my vw friends are. In fact I've had better luck than my parents who drive there stock American cars from home to work and both are newer with less miles. Almost 80k less. Plus the body doesn't rust like Japanese or American car. Not to mention the interior is better than a lot of newer American and Japanese cars. My cel only came on once and that was when I blew a coil pack. Maybe mine was just taken care of but I've had good luck with it (knock on wood)

It's so fucking tired, old and done with. I think that was almost a year ago. What sense does it make to keep talking about it like it's some new news? It's so old. No one cares! It's not relevant anymore. "There's Jensen, with yesteryear's news!"

New tranny, multiple problems with the front end, electrical issues, 3 check engine lights, the list just kept going... Not something I wanted to do to my new car I just spent 4k on. I've done the basic bolt ons since then and haven't had any problems. My dads 2011 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon was absolutely horrible, yet my 2005 Grand Cherokee was phenomenal. The wrangler had so many electrical problems. Wipers wouldn't hardly ever work, lights on the left side would turn off randomly, the gauges would mimic the wipers, and the radio/AC presets would never save. Traded it in for the 2012 Ford F-150 and never had an issue with it. Just recently got the new FX4 and it's been fantastic as well. Love your videos David, and can't wait for the 170,000mile video on Smurrf!

Thats something so few people get. the 'being content'. Its always about upgrades and faster and this and that. Theres a great youtube video about a guy with a supra who had that mindset, started with a stock supra 4 years later and countless thousands later he has a car that spends more time in the shop than on the street and is barely driveable, but hey it makes 900whp when it works.
I'm not saying theres something wrong with the pursuit of always going bigger, but sometimes its nice to just sit back and be happy with what you have and direct your energies to other things, arguably more important and memorable things.
Because when everythings said and done what are you gonna remember? The fact you had a 900whp supra? OR the backing trip across europe you went on with your best friends and all the amazing experiences you had.

1994 Miata. This keeps breaking on me, but the smiles I get when it works is so worth it. I have put around 4000 into it already because I didn't get a PPI, but worth it. It will be the track toy in a few years when i get my own place and set in job. The 1966 Mustang will be the project and DD. My current car has definitely had a few problems but I still love it. The hand brake wasn't working right so it started rolling away from me at the gas station. I just bought a 91 Nissan Sileighty with an RB25DET and so far it has given me tons of problems. It left me broken down in the middle of the highway more than once due to silly Nissan issues, CAS, MAF sensor and such. When the car has been working its been fun but so far it hasn't quite lived up to my expectations. Hopefully things pan out and I'll learn to love Nissan lol. I bought this car because my 91 CRX SiR, my baby, my pride and joy, was involved in a car accident where insurance bought it off me, I am looking forward to buying it back once all the legal issues blow over. The CRX was my first car and in my 4 years of ownership and modification it never skipped a beat not even on my 800 mile trip to LA. Great gas milage, just the right amount of power, superb handling, my CRX is to this day the best car I've ever owned!
P.S. Come visit the west coast! Love the show!

And I've dumped tons of money into just simple maintenance stuff. And some performance stuff here and there. But let me tell you I wouldn't trade the car for anything else in the world. High school graduation gift to myself was an '08 MKV GTI with 50k miles. Within the first week the valve cover gasket cracked. In week 2, the driver door lock actuator stopped working. Sometime in week 5 I got a CEL for a boost leak, and continued getting CELs over the next 30k miles for the same issue. CV boot has been replaced 3 times. I've had 3 AC compressors. Then those VW FSI engines were known for having cam follower issues--well the cam follower wore out and ruined the cam itself. Both needed replacing. Luckily, I bought an extended warranty when I bought the car. However, I believe about $7,500 in repairs happened between 50k and 90k miles in 2 1/2 years. Fun car, when it works.

The car is my second car which I still have. A 2003 Chevy Silverado LS 4x4. Got it a few months ago with half bald and half onion tires. Didn't know about the bad brakes at the time. Got new brakes first, then new tires and a leveling kit. After doing that and putting an aftermarket stereo into it, I now have found out that my AC compressor is bad. Btw, the whole time I also knew( after I bought it) that my transmission is either bad or has dirt in the fluid. Now saving for transmission fix and AC fix. Aside from the problems, I still love my truck. I go out and test it in mud and dirt, drive the crap out of it on turns, work it hard in my job. Sorry for the long response but just want to fully answer your question.

After the 1 year bumper to bumper warranty ended in 1999, on this car, we put $3000 in replacing the AC, fuel pump and a bunch of other things. I just hit 70,000 miles in my 2013 the other day! I've got a few interior rattles that have grown louder, probably from the 2 accidents it's been in. It's still a solid car though. As long as I keep it regularly maintained, it'll last forever!
