    I've been a hobby detailer for over a decade and recently started working in a Kia dealership. After reading many reviews of different machines I picked up the G9 and G8 to replace my old PC7424XP. Richard, Nick, Sam, Stevie and everyone else at Griot's Garage, thank you. I love my G9 and G8 so much that I picked up the matching carry bag. Since both polishers came with Griot's stickers I have one on both my personal car and tool cabinet at work. You've quickly become one of my favourite detailing companies. Thank you thank you thank you!

    I’m so pumped. I just ordered the G8 & G9 kit as a birthday present to myself :). I’ll be doing my car, my wife’s, and fathers car and I cannot wait! I must have researched for months comparing CG (torq), Adam’s, maxshine, SPTA, the harbor freight “Bauer” 15mm throw 6” DA, and a few others that I cannot recall the names of. Griots kept coming out on top and checked all the boxes for me, especially at the price point. Two machines for 300, hell yes! Cannot wait to get into it.

    Back then when I got into detailing, I had the porter cable. A few years ago I picked up the G9. This year I got a cordless Milwaukee DA 15 mm.
    I keep going back to my G9, I just love the ergonomics, polishing paint with it is just very cathartic.
    I always clean my G9 from any polish residue after a project, so yeah I have fun in my garage with the G9.
    Thanks for making detailing fun 😅

    I have 3 Griot's machines. The new G9 (Abrams tank), the older GG6 (Sherman tank), and the older GG3 (No tank designation on this one, but it works great!)
    In addition, I own many, many other products of theirs. Including pads, liquids, MF towels, drying towels, dressings, QD sprays, you name it.
    And ALL of them are warrantied against manufacturing defects, many for life. Incredible company.

    How can high throw DA and just circle drive both be high in friction and heat ?

    The G8 is really goated for tiny spots. The finishing capabilities are astonishing. I’ve never had the g13 but I know the Adams SK 3” with 12mm throw is amazing for cutting, so I assume it’s just as good or even better.

    I would want a very light weight DA random for less fatigue. I want to learn with something less powerful and fast. Battery would be better to get rid of dragging cords. I am older and beat up. So only a hood or door or two at a time.
    Planning on waxing more than anything else.

    Can a beginner that never used a machine before start with a g15

    • @GriotsGarage
      @GriotsGarage  Год назад

      We always suggest beginners starts with a G9 to get the hang of polishing and feel comfortable with the techniques used. The G15 is a pretty powerful tool, that could cause damage if used improperly.

    Did he really just say you would know the difference between a dual action and a random orbital? A random orbital is a dual action! It says dual action because there's two actions you're spinning and you're also going in little orbits. That's why it's called a random orbital because it's spinning and it's going in orbits causing the pattern to be more random instead of just squiggle lines from a rotary.

    thanks for the break down. Not gonna lie, im rather intimidated by these polishers. Don't wanna screw up my paint job due to operator error. They say to not wash / dry your car in circular motions, but yet, a polisher waxes / polishes in a circular motion. why does washing / drying leave swirl marks, but a orbital polisher doesn't? Right now I have no swirls on my truck (granted I haven't washed it yet), but still, i don't want there to be either.

    • @derekmaynard5619
      @derekmaynard5619 Год назад

      Air dry is the best prevention in your situation. Look into purchasing a vehicle air dryer to keep the paint from the swirls you described. Always use a clean microfiber rag when washing and keep the the clean one for areas above the rocker panels, the areas that get the most tire fling. Once a rag has the littlest piece of dirt caught in a rag, is where the scratches and marks become an issue. It's difficult to keep a daily driver to the expectations we all hope, so thats why folks choose to polish or have someone else polish there vehicles.
      A polisher goes below the small swil marks thus leading to a clean slate. Unless the pad is dirty, then you get more scratches. Hope that helped.

    • @GriotsGarage
      @GriotsGarage  Год назад +1

      Hey Shawn, that's a great question! The reason we suggest not washing or drying in circular motion is to avoid scratches as swirls as straight line scratches and swirls are easier to later correct if you inadvertently cause them while washing. A random orbital on the other hands moves in a random orbit, not just a circular motion, preventing them from causing any scratches or swirls. If you're using a rotary machine, which does spin in a circle on a single axis, you'll likely notice that it does leave some swirls as you remove heavy defects that you'll need to go back and address with a random orbital machine.
      As far as being intimidated, we hear this all the time and totally understand, but with a good machine and some helpful RUclips videos you'll be good to go. Our G9/G8 Random Orbitals are our go to for beginners as they are super easy to use, have enough power and features to use as your grow as a detailer, however are very hard to do any damage to your paint with when used correctly.

    It comes w 6 inch but you can get a 5 inch to expand your capability ?? What ?? 6 inch is more than 5 .

    • @GriotsGarage
      @GriotsGarage  2 года назад +2

      A 5" pad due to the smaller surface size provide a bit more correction capability due to the energy being in a smaller concentrated area. The 5" pad also allows you to get into areas that the 6" cannot.
