Watched this again. Just delightful. No gimmicks no technical extremes and so musical. I'm a real fan of Martine!
He is absolutely marvelous dancer!
Their arms and legs... so so long and full of musicality... so gorgeous and they are still the top fine produce of classical fine arts.

Come dire: "Ho danzato bene grazie a te che hai saputo condurmi così magnificamente"! Musica stupenda, coreografia eccellente, sincronismo perfetto. Non ho parole: bravissimi entrambi!

There was a National Ballet auditioner who was turned down by the National Ballet, but later became Balanchine's wife; muse and lead dancer. Sometimes the National Ballet gets it right and sometimes they don't....just like the rest of us in life.
Hoje, depois de 5 anos (e depois de quase 30 anos de ter visto pela primeira vez), repito o encantamento em ver essa dupla maravilhosa nessa linda coreografia. Que leveza e prazer de dançar nos transmite Martine van Hamel! Melhor Sílvia que já asisiti!

I was fortunate enough to live in the NYC area when Martine was coming into her prime, and I thought her partnership with Patrick was everything a ballet partnership should be. Even with the great artists and technicians we have now so many years later, no one has ever embodied the music and the joy of dancing to it and fulfilling it better than van Hamel. I wish we had more footage of her, but this always struck me as this partnership's signature piece and I'm so thankful it's been posted here. I have this perf but on on VHS and it's getting hard to find players! Thank you, thank you, thank you for uploading!
I saw Ms Hamel dance and she was sheer perfection and beauty on the stage, what a pleasure to see such talented dancers

Very beautiful, lots of class, innate great elegance, fits so well the lovely 19th c. music. Patrick is also a great dancer too, they fit very well together. Beautiful couple!

Bissell was the first guy I've ever seen to do the a la seconde pull in to passe pirouette...after class at SAB I saw him do 10 turns no problem that way. That was in about '79 or '80.
Incredible dancing. Unbelievable perfection. Astonishingly beautiful. Martine van Hamel is a great artist.

Saw them dance many times in the late 70s & 80s, always a thrill. Van Hamel, never less than divine. Bissell, a true danseur noble who died too young of drug addiction.

BLASTED ADVERT! Right in the middle of her dance - she is literally in mid-air when it cut her off.
This is appalling and the first time I’ve seen an advert in this beautiful pas de deux. Disgusting. All for a few pennies.

I danced with her in my early years when she was with the Washington Ballet and Kevin McKinsey was our Associate Artistic director at the time. Martin has always been a very clean and classical dancer but very boring to watch,
