- Dell XPS 15 9560 - I have owned this laptop a little over a week after my previous daily driver, the Alienware 18 (2013), failed to run run Football Manager 2018 smoothly. This paired with the fact that the Alienware struggled with editing my videos in Premiere Pro, meant that it was time for an upgrade.
The Alienware was the best and longest lasting laptop I have ever owned, the latter being the very reason I forked out for an expensive gaming laptop. The £800 - 1000 category just felt like 1 year disposable items that would just decline from the second you switched it on.
With the new business came a new requirement for me. I may need to travel for work and this laptop will need to come with me. So what do I need from a laptop?
- 4K Editing
- Run Football Manager smoothly for 3 or 4 years
- Multi-Task like a beast
- Be light and portable
So here are my views on how it performs.

I bought the Dell XPS 15 (9560) a while ago. Have been editing, color-grading, etc. with it for a few months now. Just connected it to a 27" LG 4K Monitor as well. Running like a champ!
RGMG is it laggy or just very smooth? Idk why mine doesn’t run adobe premiere that smoothly...
Nice review, really useful to see the rendering times in Premiere. I need to upgrade my laptop, and the XPS 15 looks like it could be a winner...

A tip for you
Call to actions are the most underrated but most effective way to get engagement .. and you made this video so well but lacked that one thing just ask your viewers to drop you a sub and like at the very beginning or atleast at the midle somewhere.. with over 6k views your aim should be atleast 4-5% subs conversion

You should have bought the precision version of this laptop. The difference is that the Precision 5520 comes with a quadro video card for pro video editing versus the standard gaming video card.
stockjonebills probably should have but my budget was set and being as slim and light as possible was high on my list!
How. How is it good when footage is freezing. I got this machine and when I lay multicam footage, even after transcoding to prores, Dell can't handle it and there is super lag. And I am not the only one who is seeing this issue.

Bjarne Jakus thanks mate. Its a noisy machine when it's working hard and almost silent the rest of the time. Exporting in premier pro and gaming make it sound like a helicopter!

Can you tell me the specs on your Dell XPS 9560? Was thinking about the i5 processor and upgrading the ram in order to keep things under budget but when editing 4k video I'm not sure how well that'll hold up. Or should I just buy the premium version of the 9560 since it is discounted due to the release of the 9570? I'm so lost!
Hi, I have issue with app of adobe. When I install, all app have a problem about size, UI scaling, how to fixx ?
Oh one more thing, have you tried new Adobe Premier update that can make Intel cpu faster in rendering by using their iGPU?

Does it overheat alot ? When you have to edit multiple videos 4k or not?
The connection you didn't know the name for is a USB C connector
If you buy a USB C to HDMI Cable you will get 4K @ 60 hz
the HDMI on laptop only does 30 hz

Editing 4K videos on the 9560 kinda sucks. The laptop gets hot instantly and will throttle down because of that. Even with proxy enabled, editing 4K videos will be slow. The cooling system of the XPS 15 can’t keep up with keeping the device cool.
Artemio Mundo not had this experience with mine and I edit in 4k at least 2 times a week. Gets loud but performs fine for me.

I am between this and the new HP Spectre 360 15 with 8 gen i7(Nvidia 150MX)....any suggestions?. Now, I know that Dell is probably going to release an XPS 15 with 8 gen i7(most likely 6 cores) but I assume is gonna have a full premium price where the 2017 4k model is already discounted.
archerman hello mate. I won't pretend to be a full on tech dude. I can only say this is a great laptop, the only thing that lets it down is it seems hit and miss as to whether you get one that works properly! Mines been great so far.
Or get the Precision 5520 which is the XPS 15 with a pro quadro video card for video/image editing
I’m not trying to be rude or anything, but the audio is out of sync and the fish eye lense is disturbing on close ups
I think you may want to record the game with Nvidia shadowplay.
