      That does sound like a really fun idea for the immersion of it, as if when the hvz starts you’re just walking home from work and had to pull your edc. What does your loadout consist of?

    The mediator has got to be one of the best backup primaries in my opinion. Pump action, slam-fire and the blaster with no attachments is so small, it easily fits into or could be clipped to a backpack. This video kinda filled in some of the gaps between your light infantry and civilian loadout videos. Sound advice all around.

      Absolutely! Good points!

      I agree, I have a Mediator too, and it’s like Stryfe size, perhaps a hair smaller, albeit with the side mag well. It just the Rampage’s smaller brother!

    • @scottjs5207
      @scottjs5207 2 года назад +1

      I've seen Mediators having a ton of jamming issues. Honestly anything slam fire, you're typically asking for trouble with jamming.

    • @dgresham2729
      @dgresham2729 2 года назад +2

      @@scottjs5207 I don't recall either of mine ever jamming, but your mileage may vary. With the side-load, I think some of the heavier drums cause alignment issues. And I've had faulty drums that fail to fully advance the next dart, causing jams in any blaster. I've never had an issue with 18rnd or smaller stick mags.

    • @RiverWilliamson
      @RiverWilliamson 2 года назад +1

      I've been eyeing the mediator fire exactly that reason. My pump action retaliator might be too much for the pearl-clutchers, but a vanilla mediator should pass muster.

    In addition to your advice about minimalist/backup loadouts, this video also proves that you don't need an enormous budget to get into HvZ. I could show up to an event, run a 'minimal' loadout as my primary, and still have a good time. Fancy blasters and gear can be great fun, but they're not absolutely necessary.

    I would recommend a mag fed rival blaster like the Helios or Apollo, as they have the benefit of being a stock springer with good performance, and they have smaller than normal magazines.

      @@Burasta I hadn’t seen any reviews on it yet or bought one so I didn’t know anything about it to feel like I could mention it. My only grip is that it doesn’t work with older rival mags, and the only reason the rival mags were changed was because Nerf didn’t want Dart Zone compatibility.

    I can highly recommend the Helix as a backup blaster. It's still on store shelves, relatively high capacity. Hopper fed for easy reloads from just stuffing some rival rounds in a pocket so no need to worry about magazines. And pretty reliable for a hopper blaster.

    If your HvZ allows half lengths like we do (SWNC), you can easily tone down the AF Conquest Pro with an AF Liberator spring, maybe a 788 spring too.
    With the Liberator spring in my CP, I hit 100-110FPS, which is HvZ safe for something like Endwar! With the EAT becoming scarce online and in thrift stores, the Conquest Pro can fill its place so long as the HvZ allows half lengths~

    I’m actually very new to the hobby so my load out is only minimalist. 3 of the belt pouches from FFW one for ammo one my hammer shot and one for my mega Magnus (for special zombies) my primary is the rival charger since I can top it off at any point but also because it was cheaper than a hades on a one pint sling, and finally a small backpack where I keep my water I tried to make a scout/ light infantry build but since I have the backpack if anyone ask me to I could also double as an ammo mule. Oh and my inside jacket pocket ( since I’m from up north and it mostly cold) I have the the two shot jolt from last years “the box”

    A good note to add for backups is something like has large areas to clear jams too, preferably short barrels too as long barrels are a nightmare to clear when a dart curls in a 6"-10" barrel.

    I've always been debating modding my Chaos Orbit, but it might make a good backup loadout for HvZ. If I do mod it, then I might use the takedown which was always intended to remain stock, as an emergency blaster. Not as great for a scavenger/quick reload as other options, but stock Rival is pretty solid.

    Just want to plug the Turbo Advance/Superdrum. Pump action with a 40 round drum that can easily be made rear-loadable, and can use any type of standard diameter dart. Several color options if you can still find it, easily swapable drums. Such a good blaster.

    • @CaptainXavier
      @CaptainXavier  2 года назад +1

      I do cover this in another video. It depends on the size and style of HvZ. But as a general rule bring a full loadouts worth per mission. So if there are 5 missions bring 5 full reloads worth of whatever your load out is. How much ammo is in your loadout depends on the loadout. (See my loadout videos for advice on that)

      99.99% of big events are not going to allow any of that. Too dangerous, too complicated to referee, to much of a hassle for Moderators to want to deal with. Are there really college administration that would say no camo? Even if you look like a Reese’s peanut butter cup?
    Would they also have a problem with your sling? Or a black/camo camelback?
    I’m curious on how these decisions are made/why by college admin, and whether better communication can help for all party’s involved.
    I’ve never been to an HvZ game, I think my local uni had one in ‘12 or something, but I’d be really curious about the decision making process to announce last minute “stock blasters only”
    Especially being from Canada, if I traveled down stateside for an event in California or the south, I’d definitely need to carry at least 1.5 L of ice water/sports drink per mission due to the risk of overheating.

      You being Canadian certainly helps explain your ability to underestimate to stupidity and absurdity of US College Administrations and their arbitrary rulings. All of the things I mentioned in this video I personally experienced at various games. None of these situations were in anyway hypothetical or hyperbolic. They all happened. And plenty more I did not mention. HvZ in the USA is a constant battle between the Clubs and the Administrations.
