Primary: Jolt
Secondary: dual prometheus with mastedon masterkey
I prefer the two point sling myself, that's what we used in my unit in the Army. I like one point slings if the weapon is short and lightweight. I approve of the message you're putting out, "Use what YOU like". I constantly when training other soldiers would tell them, "what works for you is what works for you, there is no objectively better method."
Often whatever we used first and are thus innately familiar with will always be what we prefer. There is nothing wrong with that. Old instincts are hard to break.
@@CaptainXavier agreed. The other thing people get all riled up about is holster type/placement, but that's another subject for another video haha
Good point! I will add that to the list!
@@CaptainXavier I look forward to it!
@@Roblecop I have legit has people get angry no matter which pistol holster I use (like I have one on my tac vest that is good for keeping my rifle up and shooting to the sides when I can't get my rifle to the side quick enough and I have a drop leg that is good for aiming forward and Is a little easier to use when my rifle is down in front of me
My advice, if you don't have a way to store a large number of magazines on your body during a war, I'd advise buying a briefcase satchel bag. The one I use can easily hold several layers, each containing 3 eighteen round magazines which are easily accessible with my off hand. I doubt that this is as efficient as a thigh and/or chest rig, but this is a great solution for those who don't have any tac gear.
Like in Resident evil 4 and 5😁
Thank you for this knowledge...
I have been enlightened.
Honestly when im caring alot of Magazines I use some "Shoulder" spots where i just put them around my belt and shoulder, im a fast moving Sharpshooter in most of my eventns so I try to put as less wait as possible, but sometimes I run a scout :)
I have a Chinese paratrooper bag that work perfectly
Agreed. Several people in my group run with those and it’s pretty effective. I myself run a chest rig, but it’s definitely an effective means of carrying mags.
A suggestion I have for anyone running a sling bag is: if you are using any other slings, place them opposite of each other. They should form an X.
This gives you several advantages: your blaster is on one side, and your ammo is on the other. You now have one hand for each. As well, I recommend putting your ammo bag on first, then placing your blaster/other gear on top. This way, your mag bag (the heaviest part) is on the bottom, and will swing less.
Great Idea Captian! I do love this because I went to WvZ last year with no hvz experience and ran a stock furyfire and now thinking about running with a stryfe. I feel as though I should call you Captian because Im apart of the Auxiliary.
"Sometimes you really need to be able to get it up in a hurry" -Captain Xavier 2019 7:04
I've heard it gets harder to do as you get older
I use my extra saxophone straps as one point slings
These videos have played a tremendous role in the gear I recently purchased and my load out decisions. Thank you Captain!🔫
Another handy feature of a single point sling is that you can undo most of it and then thread through your vest. This has the added advantage of comfort as it's the vest that's taking the weight which is then distributing through to the rest of your torso. I've found many a time my neck starts to get a bit sore if I have a blaster hanging off a sling for a little too long. The disadvantage of this method is that depending on your vest it can then be a little more difficult to get in and out of.
In terms of where to attach to the blaster, I've preferred hanging it by the loop at the bottom of the stryfe's grip. It's a good reference point that allows for developing a good muscle memory with picking it back up again.
I otherwise find I prefer 3 point slings over 2 (if I can't get a good balanced spot for a one point sling) but you do tend to get quite tangled up until you get used to the system.
And btw, a few slings are coming your way ;)
Practice, practice, practice is key. Especially switching primary to secondary, or transition drills as they are referred to. I liked the single point mounted to my vest. Started using that with my interceptor vest when carrying my issued rifle while in the Army. Was very nice especially when travelling.
Slings don't have to be complicated. I use a shoulder strap from a duffel bag attached to keyrings and carabiners used as adapters to fit the clasps of the strap to the blasters' existing (and drilled in the case of the First Order Rival blaster) sling points, usually the ones on the grips as a functional 1 point sling. It's easy to use pre-existing and/or cheap materials to make a sling, especially if you're like me and have a slight aversion to actual tactical gear.
I love this, PLEASE more of this
If I may add? The one-point sling using the bandolier thingie can be done in another way. Clip one of the carabiner thingies into the mounting ring thingie for the other. Then use the lanyard-/sling mount in the handle to clip on the free carabiner thingie.
I use this as well.
personaly i like a 3 point sling. the british army uses 3 point slings on SA80s, which I use in army cadets, so I'm most familiar with them, and in my experience, they are a wonderful thing to have around.
Captain
Great video. Practice is the key.
You are the best. Thanks for putting this out for us. See if you can review Blue Force Gear slings they are very nice. They even have a modular one that is both a 1 point and a 2 point.
I have a one-point Mossy Oak sling on the back of my Prometheus. I have a small dog harness on the front feet on the left side that my left arm goes through. I have padded the back of the blaster and can shoulder it quite comfortably. Now I can actually aim the blaster. Like I always tell people, "Aim with your eyes, not your balls!"
Two questions:
1: Are you going to make a video on various holsters as well?
2: If I (or anyone for that matter both fans and companies) were to send you entire suits of gear, blasters included, would you consider reviewing it? Maybe give your thoughts and opinions, as well as how you would change it to make it better. I feel that with your experience and knowledge you could give some good feedback and possibly point things out that we lesser experienced might have missed. Also who knows, maybe you'll discover something and could adopt it into your loadouts.
1. Yes.
2. Only if you don't want it back... If you just want feedback on your setup email be pictures of a video of the setup.
I personally use a one point sling because it’s out of the way and I never find that I need to stow and run, if I’m running craps hit the fan and fighting is the least of my worries, my worries is get to a point that I can reload, clear the jam, or switch blasters. Plus I use a hammershot so it’s not terrible to hold my blaster with one hand and fire with the other but again CHTF if I’m running and my goal is to get my primary working and pointed in the right direction (preferably with the selector switch in fun mode).
a carpenter belt not only makes a good dump pouch belt, it also has a hammer holder which just so happens to hold a Warlock axe at a Perfect height and angle to be out of the way until needed
I got a Mission Spec IAS from a friend. It's a one-point sling that doubles as a two point for easily stowing your blaster on your back.
Thank you for going over my question in as thorough a manner as I could have hoped for, until next time!
Love
Thank you sir.
I pretty much always run a one point sling for nerf. One of the big selling points for two-point and three-point slings is weight distribution. Simply put a heavy gun will will become uncomfortable very quickly on a single point sling. Not so much for the other types. Wait really is not a problem for our plastic blasters.
Awesome to see these coming out before my campus’s HVZ next week.
thank you sir for this one
3 points are great. its like having the form factor of a 1 point loop sling but with the mor secure then the both a 1 point and a 2 point
Thank you captain for your advice and information, I shall remember this and apply this to my gear, BrnanaBird over and out
This is a very useful video
Agree completely, most often use to sling blaster to have two hands to assist other players with jams or whatever
I primarily use one point slings. The only issue I have is if I need to let my primary hang for any reason during combat (pulling a sidearm, throwing a grenade, switching ammo types for specials). I can't take a knee or bend over without the muzzle of my primary hitting the ground. Otherwise I love them. Would be less problematic with shorter primaries however.
quick adjust 2 point sling: the strength of a 3 point sling (to be able to cinch a blaster down tight to your body to stow it) combined with the simplicity of use of a 2 point sling. Best of both worlds imo.
2 point all the way man.
I like slings in general. I don’t really have a preference for any particular blaster except for the Hail-Fire, a 3-point sling works perfect for that thing.
There's a weapon catch that you move you're weapon to the side or you're back and it retains it and in quick motion its redeployable!
See. I just hate slings. Use magnets!!!! Also, BANGARANG
Takes longer to stow a blaster back on a magnet than to just let go of it and let the sling catch it. :P That being said...I want many many magnets!
@@CaptainXavier on that note I believe you do, in fact, know a guy XD
Honestly I prefere a double strap for my Long-range weapons and Shotguns, but I use my classic "Lefty Wefty" left point sling for my Kriss vector stryfes. But its pl what you like, thats just my personal preferences.
I swear by quick-release two-point slings. I tighten them way up so the flopping isn't too bad, and when I need to draw my primary I just undo one buckle and suddenly the sling is 30 times the needed length. And really, you're using your primary most of the time, so if you need to quick-draw something that's supposed to already be in your hands, you've got more serious problems to deal with. Maybe that jam that made you unable to use your primary, or you should have been keeping an ear out.
Yup, there are plenty of reasons why you may need to switch weapons in a hurry (jams, out of ammo, need a special ammo type that is in your secondary, etc) best to have that option available if possible.
I use a custom paracord single point sling. I also solved the long term storage problem: a carabiner attached lower on my vest or belt (the sling also has a carabiner)
tool belt and a sling
works for me
Is that a green Ragnarockoctoberfest zip tie I see on your barrel of your stryfe?
Great vid cap... keep up the good work...
Yup, well spotted.
Slings aren't really something I've had much dealing with in the past. For LARP I'm pretty much exclusively melee/archer, and in Assassin games blasters are almost always concealed carry. In NERF shoot outs, I usually just leave my Vulcan where it is and switch to my Barrel Break if I have to move xD [yeah I know they're rubbish blasters. yes I do have access to better ones. yes, I use them because they're fun, not effective].
I’ve seen some really good videos on transition techniques between primary to sidearm that might help your viewers to learn movement and cover on RUclips
I am Right handed and I shoulder on my left because My left eye is better and that way I’m priming with my dominant hand
How would you go about slinging a revonix and what do you think is better proton or fusefire
Also any ideas for Hamer shot holsters also assuming u don’t do commissions yet
There are loads of universal or adjustable holsters the work with hammershots. Also they fit perfectly in double AK pouches. And of course there are several 3d printed options out there. I recently review the 3D Printed Solid ones.
I go with BSUK Mk IV's.
Can you talk about vests for one of these?
Now that I have got the sling down, any advise for slingpoints? I want one on the bottom end of a retalliator barrel, but don't exactly know how to yet.
vampire847 thx, I’ll get some of that and see if it works
"...on most of my vests..." that you have so many that you can speak of them as "most of them" is a bit astonishing to me. How many dedicated nerfing vests _do_ you have?
Follow up question: How would one go about using a sling swivel like the one worker has as an accessory for some of their stocks?
...attach it to the stock...attach sling to it?
I dont really understand 3 point slings? Why and how would you connect your sling to 3 places on your blaster?
Really 1 dislike your tough bro
Someone out there makes it a point to dislike all my videos. Probably someone I snarked at so I probably deserve it. :P
What chest rig is that in the video?
Hello captain. I have en idea to make a maverick or strongarm shoot buzz be shotgun shells by modifying the barrels. Do you think it will work?
Well there does exists a revolver that takes buzzbee shells so obviously it is possible.
It has more points so it must be better
I have what is, in all honestly, a dumb question. So, would it be possible, and effective, to have a sling that you could in theory, rotate your primary to your back, and then pull a blaster on your back to be your new primary? So your sling would be holding a blaster on your back for you to pull forward if your primary goes down and you don't want to use your sidearm, while also holding your normal primary blaster.
Yea, this sounds cooler in my head but I'm also trying to figure out how to effectively hold a blaster on my back if I need to switch for whatever reason. I feel like having a Stryfe as a sidearm would solve this problem, but that's also bulk. I've finally found a place to nerf at and trying to put together my loadout.
As in both blasters on the same sling?
@@CaptainXavier Yes, one in the front one on the back. I was thinking more about it, and I don't think gravity will allow it
Hello! I'm from Italy: can I join the Auxiliary with my small squad?
BTW: you're videos are very usefull! Thanks!!
😁
You just did! The only requirement to joining the Auxiliary is wanting to join! Benvenuto!
@@CaptainXavier thank you, I appriciate.... I will soon out the logo on the gear ;)
so i'm not the only left-handed nerfer i assume is there's dozens of us including the Captain
Statistically speaking we should make up about 10% of all Nerfers
You are valuable in a squad. Southpaws are a great tactical advantage.
i do have decent aim but i can hurl a paper ninja star really fast and hard in half the time it takes me to raise and shoot my blaster
We have a great many almost unfair advantages in many things. I have often wondered if that is not why we are so hated in many cultures. It probably does not help that we can be insufferably smug about it. :P
@@CaptainXavier here's a scenario (that might favor lefties): you're with your back against the wall and 2 enemies are on the other side up against the wall as well what do you do? do you: take out your secondary and reach your left arm around the corner and tagging them both with your secondary (if possible). or come around the corner with a fully revved up minigun (tyr) and tag them both
Will the auxiliary be at endwar?
Yes...lots of us...
Where are the rules posted for Endwar
No idea. I'm not sure they even have been yet.
Ok
Hey Cap., so your blaster doesn't flop all over when you run with it slung, www.evike.com/products/38326/
It works OK with full-size airsoft rifles, Good with small rifles/smgs. I'd think it would be fairly good with Nerf blasters, seeing as they are lighter than most airsoft rifles.
Your vids
