Everting is more exciting when you gradually build somthing. Penny saving and chasing a bargain is also fun. I have never had enough money to buy shopping containers full of parts a month before the build off
You can plug the brushed motor directly into the Furitec ESC's motor socket. Offset the 2-pin connector from the motor so it fits on two of the three pins on the motor header on the ESC. This saves all the cutting and soldering.
Can not go wrong with the lizard with Bluetooth ❤️ by far the best esc for micros ATM I have run the RGT and ox brushed motors and surpass brushless and have zero complaints
You can use the stock esc/receiver combo as just a receiver with the furitek esc. It's bulky but you can plug the new esc into it. I also think I saw someone trim the plug on the stock brushed motor to fit into the esc with the bullet plug adapter removed to save having to solder things together if going for a brushless in the future.
I have both set ups with the Furitek, I use the stock Axial receiver and also on a another few builds I use this receiver, its a lot smaller "FEICHAO FS2A-4CH AFHDS 2A Mini Compatible Receiver PWM Output for Flysky i6 i6X i6S Controller"
I've seen a few people put the Furitek motor in the Scx24, but haven't seen too many put the longer can. 050 motor in. Its apparently got more torque, but needs some mods to the battery tray to make it fit. Loving both your builds, and doing the $50 a week budget is a great idea. For those of us on a proper budget, we can make our own minds up as to whether we think its worth it. Can't wait to see how they turn out, and love the body on yours. 👍🏻
The brushless is a game changer performance wise, I have the Furitek setup in my SCX24. The extra control that comes with having enough torque to actually crawl over an obstacle instead of being full throttle every climb is awesome.
Probably never going to go brushless on my deadbolt but that ESC interests me. I Would love to see a quick running video with it connected to the stock brushed motor. Even if it's just backwards and forwards on the desk.
My 1st c10 have furitek motor and tegu. 2nd c10 surpass with mini mamba esc 3rd custom outboard motor with hobbywing esc. A much better ride going brushless But i dont have a brushed set up that's faster drive wise speed. But has as much power to power over things Mini rocket systems work as well. These 24s r so fun. Can customize however u want. Now im finishing build with 60s suburban hardbody Great episode.thanks everyone
When I inevitably blew thru the stock motor I put a barrage motor in mine with the longer can. A bunch more torque and I haven't looked back. My 24 also has a full hardbody with a bunch of lead weight spread as scale realistically as possible along with rc4wd scramblers and steel rims. The motor does quite well despite its weight.
I am running Furitek combos (Lizard and Tegu's) on all of mine. Absolutely worth it, and driving a stock one is frustrating after getting used to it. As others said, you can use the stock esc/receiver as just a receiver if cost is an issue. For the cost of filament, that is a little misleading, I would price it based on what it would cost to get something similar on Shapeways.
The furitek esc will run a barrage style brushed motor very very well, but the near invisible slow speed control is only possible with a brushed motor. The komodo motor they offer is awesome. It mounts high, but centered.
ANSWER: Yes Matt, I'm considering a Brushless Motor. I've got a few small Brushless 14 Pole, Outrunner Motors - from my small RC Aircraft foray. 😊 Should give unbelievable low-end Torque!! CHEAP Receiver? Since most of my Rigs run on a FlySky GT-3B, spare Receivers can be had for $10-12!! 👍👍 I'm DOING that rear Hinge of yours.... Nice! I bought a Sovol SV-03, that I STILL have no idea how to use!! 😖 Don't understand Slicers and several other things. If I could just load a Thingiverse file, and get a part, I'd be set!
I just installed the Furitek brushless motor and lizard esc on my scx24 C10 and it's amazing. The truck is so controllable and will crawl so slow it's unbelievable
This is a cool build. Makes me want to get one of these trucks. I don't think brushless is worth the expense for a small truck like this. Brushed is more than sufficient. I would have decased the ESC like Josh did and saved my money.
I got that Land Rover model for Christmas and I’m just now getting around to it. Min isn’t a cab over though! I making it well used, rusty and muddy but not beat up.
I put the team powers MBX V2 Mini-Z brushless motor on a PN Racing motor mount in mine. Lighter than the Furitek setup and more tunable, but slightly more finicky to do so. Totally worth it though!
I botched a 1308 edf motor for mine. Pain in the ass had to rewind it and it only has 6 out of the 12 magnets, but it does sit under the battery tray lol
The furitek lizard can use the stock esc as a reciever! I run it with the surpass outrunner in my Betty, works great! Also, put the battery in the front tray, and the esc on the back tray, for better weight distribution! Great looking build so far!
yes,,, brushlessssssss, I have a small losi micro T brushless motor on the furitek, bolts right in, no cg impact like the outrunners, but cogging a bit when steep climbing. but slow crawl is amazing
the Furitek Lizard will use the stock Axial receiver just fine, how ever I use the "FEICHAO FS2A-4CH AFHDS 2A Mini Compatible Receiver PWM Output for Flysky i6 i6X i6S Controller" it is a lot smaller! and yes a Furitek brush-less is the cats meow for these!!
With the extra weight this rig has I might go brushless. I have the Furitek setup. Tegu with their outrunner and new motor mount in a Goblin carbon chassis. All kinda of other stuff on it and rear steer
This is the most helpful of all the videos because I’m now revisiting the series due to picking up another Scx24 soon. Also for us in the uk amain has an eBay store
Yeah buddy, you’re gonna love the lizard, then with the app on your phone you could change things on the fly love mine. Super cool budget build, love these videos
I just installed the furitek lizard and Komodo combo with the external 2.5a bec in my Jeep build. Very impressed with the slow speed control and having the ability to tune through Bluetooth is awesome(I love my hobbywing axe setup) I think you would be very happy with the brushless setup in the scx24
Just ordered the furitek for mine (with outboard motor). Did it take much modifications to install? Only seen 1 person using it, and he cut up the stock esc mounting plate so much to fit it. The front shock towers started wobbling about 😳 before he added a brace.
you can use the stock receiver with the furitek, 2fm rc has made a great video on that because i will not be able to explain where you need to plug it, but it's possible !
Now that's how you properly do a budget build off. Haha. That thing is looking awesome. That esc is pretty cool. Really changes the whole look keeping everything low. In a good way ofcourse haha. GO CANADA.
I am going to try brushless with my own motor and esc on the cheap. I am currently running a barrage motor and saw a big jump in torque so this should interesting.
What if you decase the esc then cut away all but the receiver bits. Then you don't gotta buy a receiver or radio. I think brushed or brushless is fine, I just don't like the sound those outrunners make. I will probly stay brushed, but, maybe not. Y'all have a badass day 🤘
Great upgrades. For the motor I guess it would be does it need more speed or more torque.Guess it depends if a brushed motor offers both or dose a brushless offer more of each? Oh the decision for the motor choice is a tough one.Looking forward to what you decide on your choices.
??? You can use the Furitek ESC with stock SCX24 receiver. I have a ton of videos comparing Furitek brushless with brushed (and even better ESCs than the Furitek). I prefer brushed Barrage motor.
If you are like me surely you must have a few receivers around, I run only Spektrum radio's and have just upgraded to the latest edition receiver's so have a minimum of six in my spare's and in going to the DX6R radio it came with a tiny three channel race receiver which was never needed by me but if so do you add the cost or call it a freebie only asking as does it matter if you use Matts way of calculating I mean it was free ???. You need to chop that length of tube that sticks out past the body mount so it does not drag when climbing.
Very nice! I'm curious to see if the Bowhouse RC Low CG Battery tray will work with the Furitek Brushless Revolver motor will fit with that tray? The Flyski FS-GT5 comes with remote and 6 channel reciever for around $70
Going to be a awesome rig, I love the body. Yeah tiger striped, Or like a zebra stripes would be awesome. Ted Nugent style yeah. Well appreciate you sharing I am following this build
Nice work! I just got my Furitek TEKO kit in the mail!!! im stoked to give it a whirl! I've got just about all the parts I think I might need to make some major upgrades to mine. Im still torn about shocks though. Not sure if aftermarket really makes a big enough difference?
Brushless motor is not good if its sensorless.. low speed problems, thats why *M*M* (Moustache Master) do rather other stuff.. My opinion for this case: "050" high torque sensored motor
I think brushless is a waste for this build. I would put a Barrage/050 motor in it and use the extra money for wheels and tires. The stock tires are really terrible.
Just question/ suggestion why dont you place the battery up front and the the ESC suppose to go and the ESC where the battery goes? If it fits it should help with some performance maybe? Edit in: you can find a Scx10ii stock tactic remote for cheap and it has a tiny receiver that could work on that truck
The blank check for Tom was awesone
I love a good FOC
The lizard works great!!!!
Everting is more exciting when you gradually build somthing. Penny saving and chasing a bargain is also fun. I have never had enough money to buy shopping containers full of parts a month before the build off
In the words of James from donut. Mo powa bebeh!!👍good thing you had that blank check lying around lol
Thank you for the mount! No more glue for me 😎
Just ordered the Bowhouse lcg kit!
Me, too. Didn’t know about it before this video. Looks good!
That was a HILARIOUS intro!😂
Josh should be building a “seconds” truck from all the parts he has lying around, frame rails, batteries, tires OH MY….
Or third......
Brushless with the surpass 2204 or the Furitek komodo is just amazing.
The build is really coming along Josh has his work cut out for him if he wants to beat this build , great job Matt
Go brushless. This build series almost makes me want to get an SCX24. Enjoying it.
You two are inspiring me to do something with one of my scx24s!
You can use the stock esc/receiver combo as just a receiver with the furitek esc. It's bulky but you can plug the new esc into it. Thumbs up and subscribed literally 8 seconds in. LOL.
I already went brushless on one of my SCX24. It crawls nicely with the Furitek combo.
Or just decase and use the stock receiver with the stock remote. It works well with the furitek.
Yes brushless is needed ! Super cool on the truck
Great intro! Watched it multiple times to show Chachi. We got a good early morning giggle.
I have the brushless Furitek system in my scx24 and yes, definitely the way to go.
Need to build a scale garage later…small scale RC is perfect for displays
The brushless is a game changer performance wise, I have the Furitek setup in my SCX24. The extra control that comes with having enough torque to actually crawl over an obstacle instead of being full throttle every climb is awesome.

My furitek motor/ESC combo came in last night. Gonna try to attempt to install tonight. Exciting!
When I inevitably blew thru the stock motor I put a barrage motor in mine with the longer can. A bunch more torque and I haven't looked back.

I'm loving this series, can't wait to see what unfolds next week! 👍✌️
I normally go with brushed motors but with this little rig I think the best choice is brushless. Love the series look forward to it each week.
One thing about brushless is the motors are just more efficient and this makes the batteries last considerably longer.
ANSWER: Yes Matt, I'm considering a Brushless Motor. I've got a few small Brushless 14 Pole, Outrunner Motors - from my small RC Aircraft foray. 😊 Should give unbelievable low-end Torque!!

I think brushless is overkill....So of course I think it's a very good upgrade. LOL Hmm, I wonder if HH has an SCX24 sized brushless revolver... :D
I run two barrage motors in my build . Love yours and Josh's build off so far.
Seen video of furitek brushless, looks absolutely worth it.
I put the team powers MBX V2 Mini-Z brushless motor on a PN Racing motor mount in mine. Lighter than the Furitek setup and more tunable, but slightly more finicky to do so. Totally worth it though!
Yes I would love to see these with a brush less conversion just wish I could find one that is around the same size as the stock motor.
I put in a brushless 1230 size. Smallest I could find, it's the size of an 050 brushed motor or smaller. ruclips.net/video/JS0x57pq-xg/видео.html
Very solid work! I love the use of a body that others wouldn’t pick. I am totally into scratch building or modifying a static body. I’m digging it!
Enjoying the build Matt, how about replicating this as 1/10 ?
That call out intro just had me dying. 😆😆
I have 4 scx24’s and 2 have furitek lizards and one has a surpass and another has the furitek Komodo brushless. They are amazing.
The Brushless motor for that ESC is a awesome upgrade. maybe you should sell the old parts for some income and more money.
You’ll be removing or dremeling “ lol” one of those bowhouse trays if you do use the outrunner.
yes,,, brushlessssssss, I have a small losi micro T brushless motor on the furitek, bolts right in, no cg impact like the outrunners, but cogging a bit when steep climbing. but slow crawl is amazing
Talk about shots fired I love it
Just bought my low cg kit. Thanks for the link brother 🔥
Any time!
the Furitek Lizard will use the stock Axial receiver just fine, how ever I use the "FEICHAO FS2A-4CH AFHDS 2A Mini Compatible Receiver PWM Output for Flysky i6 i6X i6S Controller" it is a lot smaller! and yes a Furitek brush-less is the cats meow for these!!
Finally got my own SBG decals! Of course they came with the Trailwalker I purchased lol.
loving this series so far......looking forward to those tiger stripes!
With the extra weight this rig has I might go brushless. I have the Furitek setup. Tegu with their outrunner and new motor mount in a Goblin carbon chassis. All kinda of other stuff on it and rear steer
Dude you have space on your shelf now!!! Lmfao it's the first thing to jump out at me. Maybe I need to stop watching all of you and Josh's videos.
This is the most helpful of all the videos because I’m now revisiting the series due to picking up another Scx24 soon. Also for us in the uk amain has an eBay store
Glad I could help!
Love the furetec
If you got a dumbo radio laying around the dumbo receivers are like 6 bucks or if you want to go all out dumbo has a light kit/Esc for like 15 bucks
Really great additions this week Matt.
Yeah buddy, you’re gonna love the lizard, then with the app on your phone you could change things on the fly love mine. Super cool budget build, love these videos
This is what I was thinking about doing also. Just got it so be bit before I get there. Very interested in seeing what motor you are going for.
I burned through a couple stock motors and a barrage motor. Then I put in a micro revolver and never had an issue again.
I have plans to go brushless. I'm torn between the two escs. I love the size of the Lizard but like the idea of running 3s with the Tegu.
I just installed the furitek lizard and Komodo combo with the external 2.5a bec in my Jeep build. Very impressed with the slow speed control and having the ability to tune through Bluetooth is awesome(I love my hobbywing axe setup) I think you would be very happy with the brushless setup in the scx24

i did a surpass outrunner and it was well worth the brushless upgrade
you can use the stock receiver with the furitek, 2fm rc has made a great video on that because i will not be able to explain where you need to plug it, but it's possible !
Where is this $50 dollar Lizard w/ BT connection sold? That is a great price! ...or did you pull a Josh? LOL.
Now that's how you properly do a budget build off. Haha. That thing is looking awesome. That esc is pretty cool. Really changes the whole look keeping everything low.
In a good way ofcourse haha.
GO CANADA.
I honestly don’t think brushless helps these trucks much as most run them indoors but a better esc is a good idea for throttle control.
The stock ESC/rx combo has CH2 output; you don't need to buy a RX.
I am going to try brushless with my own motor and esc on the cheap. I am currently running a barrage motor and saw a big jump in torque so this should interesting.
Absolutely will need brushless with all that weight
I love this series and I think you absolutely think you should go brushless! I am working on mine when I get home!
If you’re including your filament for your printer you should also include the cost of those electrical connecters and solder that you used
Those connectors were included with the ESC, and you'll notice, I didn't wire it up in preparation for next week.
What if you decase the esc then cut away all but the receiver bits. Then you don't gotta buy a receiver or radio. I think brushed or brushless is fine, I just don't like the sound those outrunners make. I will probly stay brushed, but, maybe not. Y'all have a badass day 🤘
I'd definitely consider brushless especially if it means I get a tiny FOC.
i think your scx24 is worth more than my 1/10 crawler lol
Maybe use the extra long links from the extra parts bag in the box. Its the Best FREE mod !!!Brings the axle forward 5/8‘‘
You could use a Rx/Tx from another RTR that you have from the past, since josh "had stuff just laying around"
Unlike you, Josh counted his prints from shapeways. Lol
I heard that there might be a yard sale near Matt where an old stock radio and receiver are in a box marked 50 cents.😀
Great upgrades. For the motor I guess it would be does it need more speed or more torque.Guess it depends if a brushed motor offers both or dose a brushless offer more of each? Oh the decision for the motor choice is a tough one.Looking forward to what you decide on your choices.
I have also the furitek lizard and i am putting the H&H 380 motor🔥😎🔥
I don't think brushless is "needed" but it is totally rad haha
Er, Josh uses the blank check Before, not after, he fills it in. That’s how to get it all!
??? You can use the Furitek ESC with stock SCX24 receiver. I have a ton of videos comparing Furitek brushless with brushed (and even better ESCs than the Furitek). I prefer brushed Barrage motor.

I had to run a BEC with the lizard wouldn’t power my receiver, was meant to be used with the factory esc
Dumbo RX an TX are really good for cheap.
My opinion for this case: "050" high torque sensored motor
something large in the background is missing.........
I think brushless is a waste for this build. I would put a Barrage/050 motor in it and use the extra money for wheels and tires. The stock tires are really terrible.

Wonder how much josh actually has spent (all the unused parts included) lol, love this build, makes me want to build a cabover defender for snowrunner
Can you please do a video on your gray scx24 JLU. 5
