Sinovac is made from a traditional method and should be relatively safe compared to other new types of vaccines such as mRNA, ie Pfizer, Moderna etc. Efficacy is highly dependent on test environment. The key is effectiveness to reduce severe symptoms and hospitalization. Sinovac can deliver these. I think it's a very good vaccine.

Mutation is actually errors in replication. Every time the virus replicates, there is the possibility of minor deviation from the predecessor.
Since this pandemic spreads so fast, the changes occur at a rapid rate compared to other virus like cancer or HIV, which aren't contagious.

This is already what they plan to do in US and UK.

Side effects is different from protection against the disease. Your doctor should be able to advise you what is the proper balance -- and if you should take the vaccine. Chile's study examined CoronaVac's effectiveness among 10.5 million people, again looking both at people who had been vaccinated and those who had not. Vaccines were administered approximately 28 days apart. The CoronaVac vaccine was 85% effective in preventing hospitalizations and 80% effective in preventing deaths, the Chilean government said in a report, adding that the data should prove a "game changer" from the vaccine more widely.
