- Testing my Mercury 4stroke 6hp from 2018, had starting issues and was able
to solve them by cleaning the carburetor with the help of a video from
Sumo Guri on RUclips. Boat runs at aprox. 26km/h.

Nice video and setup I have a yamaha as that green boat also a 9.9 that I turned into a 15 amazing motor your boat would be flying with that engine I have a 3.80 inflatable and can reach 20 knots with 2 persons
I reckon you get mistaken for a navy seal ha ha, runs well now, the nose of the boat points high up, interesting design, great video again, cheers

Hi, cool video, perfect weather! I've the same engine (Tohatsu). And I've found strange innovation. The hooks whitch locking the engine when you move back, keep blocking the engin and on neutral gearbox position. And if I want to lift the engin up (on parking or on shallow) I have to switch the engine off, move transmission to forward. Do you have the same? Because as I remember 5hp 2st Tohatsu engine doesn't have this problem, and they have the same deadwoods.
I fixed this problem by enlarging the post that raises the hooks. It seems to me that this is a feature of our local motors, so I decided to check with you. Thanks!
It’s the same on my Mercury, it will only tilt in forward propulsion position!

@Andrew H Are you sure? There is another little silver hook lower then the big handle, if you push this one up, you can tilt the engine in neutral position.

Thanks for the nice video. Is it true that the operation of 2-stroke outboard motors is prohibited in the Netherlands at all? What if the motor was purchased before the prohibition occurred?

Mooi gefilmd, je hebt het rijk bijna alleen daar. Ik heb de Tohatsu variant met 12ft alu V doet 29km/h. (boot 51KG /Stuurman 90KG) Verbruik is netjes met de 12 liter tank kan je meerdere dagen varen (volgas ca. 2 ltr per uur)
Ze komen allemaal uit de Tohatsu fabriek Evinrude, Mercury en Mariner. Die 29km/h haal ik niet, opblaas onderwater schip en een doorvoede kapitein zijn wellicht de oorzaak 😄

@@BCBoatsAndCanoes Something weird is going on right now with the analytics on RUclips. I have received 20 views on my "Canoeing and Kayaking with Alligators" video in the past 48 hours yet my total views is stuck at 1,053....very irritating. I just checked it earlier when I realized that video gets about 8-10 views a day yet the counter hasn't moved in 2 days. When I check the bar graph for the individual video it shows 21 views in the past 48 hours yet not one has shown up on the big board. Not sure what the problem down at RUclips headquarters is but something's happening. Makes me wonder how many times someone has left a comment or like and it hasn't registered either. Glad to hear you are being watched by the fastest growing RUclipsr in the American SE.....introduce me to the guy if you get a chance!

@@skittles074 Hi Mate, I have since sold this boat, now do mostly sea kayaking. But in all honesty I found it just a bit cramped to do what I needed, 3m or over would certainly be better, and also I would go with as powerful a motor as possible with whatever you decide upon. Hope that helps :)
@@Karkawry1970 hi mate, yeh I've had a 15hp 4 stroke on a 3.8m since 2016 and struggle to get out on it as I'm a shift worker as it requires two at minimum, I've just gotten a 6hp for a new 2.7m Airdeck to get out on my own.

Does this engine have an alternator btw? I'm looking for a new engine and being able to charge my battery is a must.
No, it doesn’t
If you want to be able to charge off it you need the saildrive variant but these are also extra long shaft too.

2 gallons is correct, on average 1 L / hr
Hoe verloopt dit mbt geen vaarbewijs, hier kom je dus niet mee weg.... wat raad je aan voor een 360 kolibri, 5 pk max?
De combinatie die ik vaar is legaal, vermits je de 20km/h niet overschrijd. Al 3x aangehouden door de water politie.
Met 5pk en 180kg totaal lukt planeren niet altijd.

Ik heb een vergelijkbare boot maar durf er geen 6 pk op te zetten omdat de set dan zeker harder gaat dan 20klm p/u (boot weegt 55kg netto, ik 110kg boot is 3.20 m) Ik heb geen zin om het risico van een 600 euro bekeuring te lopen. Belachelijke toestand trouwens met die 20klm /15 meter regeling in Nederland.
Grappig dat ik nu (sinds onze getijdentocht) heel anders naar deze video kijk dan voor die tijd. En ach ja, ondanks dat ik geen spijt heb dat ik mijn Zodiac met 10PK Evinrude heb ingeruild voor een kano, kriebelt het wel weer een beetje hoor. See ya.
Hi great movie. Can You tell me the minimum speed on lowest rotation ?? I need motor to trolling where best speed is 2/3 km per hour. I want to swim on river with slow flow. Can i trolling with this motor ?
My guess is 6kmh min
I don't think that's it's good for trolling, as it doesn't idle slow enough. I may try locking down one of my transom wheels into the water to add some drag to slow down my SK385XL, once the three feet of ice melts off of the lakes way up here...the fuel economy is fantastic.

Yes, the 6hp will get you moving, but planing only under 200kg total weight.

It depends for what you are looking for but generally speaking yes it is better it's a boat with a transom offcorse it's better than an intex

@@BCBoatsAndCanoes oke dank je, ik kijk zelf naar de Talamex Highline airdeck HLA 300 met en 6pk Yamaha. vroeg mij de top snelheid even af. bij de meeste merken zijn de 3.00a 3.10 lengte boten een stuk smaller +/- 155 cm breed. de HLA 300 is 170 breed, vroeg mij af of dat negatief is voor de snelheid en manoeuvreerbaarheid.
daarnaast nog de vraag of de airdeck stijf genoeg is t.o.v een alu vlonder vloer
Alu vloer is sneller / stijver, de opblaasvloer is comfortabeler ( om op te zitten leunend tegen de drijver ) en goedkoper.
