    One of the consistently best Sci-Fi shows ever, and if people don't want to get over the hurdle that it's sci-fi then they are missing out the tv show of a lifetime. Stargate SG1 was simply up there with the best sci-fi shows of all time.

    • @KaySan666
      @KaySan666 7 лет назад +16

      Definetly agree with you on that. I can rewatch episodes of SG-1 (gotta admit it is harder with the very first ones) again and again and still love it the same way. I have yet to watch a modern tv-show that comes close to that. It feels like the modern ones either take themselves too serious or pure comedy shows.
      The only SG-1 episodes i did not enjoy were the ones with Vala. so pretty much everything from season 9 onwards. Hated the Ori-plot and the fact that Mitchell was the team leader and not Sam.

    • @fortysixteruk5672
      @fortysixteruk5672 7 лет назад +9

      Yeah the very early ones CAN be a bit of a challenge, but all in all they hold up well. The actors got to grips with their characters very quickly and there are more watchable episodes than unwatchable ones ( The Nox from season one was poor for example). This show and Star Trek Deep Space Nine are the true epitome of brilliant acting and more importantly, great writing and characterisation. It's a shame there isn't a decent active forum for folks to discuss these shows.

    • @KaySan666
      @KaySan666 7 лет назад +3

      So true. I really miss talking about that. Sharing theories, or even sometimes stupid fangirling/boying over certain actors.
      One of my least favourite episodes of SG-1 (minus the season 9+ episodes) is "emancipation" as well as the one where they have to retrieve a SG Team that went powerhungry on a planet, and was let by Sams exboyfriend. I usually just skip those but the rest is simply pure gold. i love the dynamic between the characters and also how they develop throughout the seasons.
      Oh Star Trek Deep Space Nine. I watched that as well, but i'll admit i was more of a TNG girl. Jean Luc Picard, Data and Geordie. I just loved them. I loved the whole setting of a futuristic society that overcame their differences to work together (more or less peaceful). DS9 was already a bit more serious, with the whole Bajoran/Cardassian problem

      Exactly. Daniel saying "we've been through some bad situations." Jack's response was perfect "That we always got through." Jack was comforting a friend. One of three people Daniel could admit his feeling to, was Jack. Jack did the only thing he could: comfort a friend.

    • @Kosinuss
      @Kosinuss 6 лет назад +20

      I think Jacks' comment about being hungry completely defuses a moment of dread within Daniel. Like, Jackson said: ''I'm scared...'' O'Neill simply replies: ''I'm hungry...'' And Jackson just smiles, gets pulled back to reality and thinks: ''Yeah, the Ori are not here yet. Might as well enjoy a meal...''

    I love this scene, though I definitely don't think of it as a 'comedy scene.' Not sure what the fuck you're on about. It sums up a pretty serious episode between guys who have been friends through massive amounts of trauma together. O'Neill throws in a line of humour at the end like he always does, big deal. It's how he seems to deal with epic amounts of stress. Considering around 80% of the scene is quite serious, I don't know how you can claim this to be a 'comedy scene.' What the fuck are you on? (note: rhetorical - I don't actually care)

    • @jblonar
      @jblonar 10 лет назад +10

      I can't get over the way their relationship has evolved since the movie; O'Neill despised Daniel in the movie, thought he was a nerd. But over the run of the series they became best friends; saving each others lives more than once.
      Doesn't hurt that Daniel is the only person Jack lets get away with using his first name

    • @brassholio
      @brassholio 10 лет назад +4

      He let Hammond, and Maybourne. He outranked everyone else on the base with the exception of a few other Colonels so they're not allowed to call him by his first name anyway.

    • @jblonar
      @jblonar 10 лет назад +2

      brassholio Hammond would rarely do that though; only on certain instances and Maybourne doesn't really count because he's a dick

    • @brassholio
      @brassholio 10 лет назад

      Of course he counts, dick or not. They're the same rank. I'm going through the marathon (again) and Hammond calls him 'Jack' a fair bit, and any civi he knows would call him Jack anyway. In real life people in the forces don't go around making people call them by their rank. In my unit all nco's are called by their first name or nick name by officers, then even the lower ranking officers get called by their first names by higher ranking officers. Regardless, Daniel isn't the ONLY one who calls him 'Jack.'
      I know SG-1 had a military adviser but some of their military protocol was pretty inaccurate. Such is the way of television, I guess.

The fact that she stays with the SGC and takes on some pretty dangerous missions with them, and puts up with all the crap that comes with it shows that she is actually pretty committed to putting right some of the wrongs in the Galaxy

    I'm irate as hell that I'm on season 10 of SG1 now and they *still* haven't explained where the hell Jack went or what happened to his character.

      Jack became "The Man". He was the head of Homeworld Security or whatever after Hammond retired. Jack works at the Pentagon

      @@Lillyryum yup, I found out eventually. The show didn't do a good job of explaining what happened to him.
