As for the cast turbo, just use a dish sponge (the rough side) and some wd-40 or oil and be aware that it'll burn off the first time running and will smoke, but that'll seal it up and prevent future issues. Fellow Canadian. Do not clear coat it, will not work and will be a hazzard

Must've been an awesome feeling seeing that motor come alive, despite having some fuel/ecu issues still. I've been in your shoes before, up until early morning hours trying to diagnose shit. Annoying in the moment but once you figure it all out, it's all worth it. Once she's up and running with a tune, you're gonna love that thing. Boosted Ks are so much fun.

Ive recently switched to 5w40 LiquiMoly Molygen on my Abarth 500 and its been treating me and the car well! The Turbo Civic should love it, too!
throw an npt to hose nipple and put it in a boost pipe (or the outlet of the intercooler) AFTER the intercooler then plumb that into your wastegate/boostcontroller. The reasoning behind this is that there is generally a pressure difference from before and after the intercooler so you can have a 5 lb psi spring and get a different boost reading into the engine because the wastegate is getting different air than the engine.

From a shade tree mechanic, the misfires make it sound like your timing is off. Make sure the distributor is properly oriented and degreed. Also might want to make sure all of your coil plugs are good and firing. I know that on B series if the iacv sensor and the map sensor plugs are hooked up backwards, the car will still run but'll run and sound like booty. Maybe it's the same with K's???

Had the issue with my car, was getting g wayyy too much fuel, I have 1600cc and it was dumping a ton in there. Soaked the cylinders and had to replace the plugs too.

I'm sure someone else mentioned this but check ur timing with a timing light. If you hadn't already. If you installed 1k injectors and got a base map tuned to them, you shouldn't need to scale down to get it to start.

Damn bro. Should have the wastegate line as close to the throttle body as possible or atleast after the intercooler because of pressure loss because the intercooler. Just means the wastegate will open at a lower boost than your map sensor is reading. No big deal tho
