Awesome thanks!
96% of games eligible for a $8 badge upgrade...surprise surprise
Hahaha not even Karl caught the real scam taking place...
Another Wata issue I have is the top end of Wata is to easy to get for modern. VGA is nice because you can shoot for 90 or 95 (which is still hard to get), and still be very happy with an 85+ which can easily cross to a 9.8 A+. But then again VGA is still to expensive and turnaround times hurt.
I agree as well. I feel way better about a VGA 90 modern than even 9.6 A+
I do value a 95+ from VGA more than a WATA 9.8 A++, but until we get pop reports we don't know how they truly grade games.
according to the latest cross grading report a VGA 87+ can also easily cross to a 9.2 or 9.4 A+. Everybody keeps claiming VGA always crosses to a very high Wata grade, but the facts show there is a wide dispersion
i love dumping 85+ on vga collectors who think its equivalent to a 9.8 A+ 🤣
It’s definitely NOT easy getting a 9.8 or even a 9.6 in modern.
10.0 A++ analysis right here
Just found your channel and Wow.. as someone who collects gamecube and n64 this is like a treasure trove of information… thank you for having all these resources available! Subbed+

The only thing I want to know is, is Mizkif still losing money?
Some things is the world you can just trust to stay consistent!
Im taking advantage of the dip for sure. Maybe I’m definitely making speculative plays for sure but seeing as all aspects of collectables have dropped I’m taking advantage of the market. Been buying sealed games such as Pokémon big ip titles, and even buying singles of Pokémon cards and slabs for very low prices. The way looking as if your buying msrp or low. Even if your taking a speculative approach I think you will do fine long term. Anyone expecting to buy a Wii U game or 3ds game and getting a high grade and magically making profits will be disappointed especially now that we are going to a rescission pretty much globally since post Covid. I do believe if you can buy the titles at low rates and are sealed or near mint you can do well long term. I think we are finally starting to see real prices on eBay, and auction houses and will start to get real true values on things. I also believe we will soon see the hobby shift more towards really only value collectors editions or special edition version of games like Pokémon double packs which have a much lower print run then a traditional Pokémon Scarlett or violet by itself.
That's why the pop report is fun. I have a 9.8 A++ Paper Mario color Splash pop 2. But for speculation, the report tells you the lowest grade you can get away with. My only guess would be were those games submitted this year since there's been a stricter seal grade?
Exactly! Individual games will always need their own analysis based on relative availability or possible ancillary factors, but seeing the overall trends are very interesting!
Also, nice color splash👌👌
LOL, market is so oversaturated with graded games. People grading modern games for the hope of them being worth something in the future I'd a fallacy. The reason why old Gen sealed games are worth more is because at the time , no one had any concept of a future market for sealed games . They were meant to be played , so people opened them. Now everyone's trying to make a buck on modern era sealed games , or think values will go up. Especially those warehouse finds of older games , just imagine the stockpiles of new Gen games just sitting out there .
Absolutely. Video games were not a category of collectible when Nintendo exploded in 1987. Now everyone knows you can make money off them so they'll save new games, thinking prices will reflect an organically low supply. Same thing happened with Star Wars figures and sports cards. Too late, guys.
Sometimes I see sealed games listed on Offerup and wonder if these people are desperate.
What a surprise, half of the Spiderman 2600 games were 9.8 A++
Another issue re Breath of the Wild WiiU is that a lot of those graded copies are capitalizing on the box variant
Absolutely! The 7 controller misprint hype is 100% what led people to (apparently) send in any copy they could possibly find haha. Even the 7 controller was close to 200 copies I think
@@GetTheGreg What is your guess in regards to BotW Misprint, Gold Cover Wind Waker HD and Twilight Princess HD by the next Pop Report, one years time, two years time? 10% increase in the next 4 months? 25% over the next year? I'm sure there are sealed copies of these games, but just how many are out there is the question. The Hype train hit BotW misprint early. I'd figure a lot of people that had this game and wanted to cash out jumped at their first opportunity... 🤷🏼♂ I'm curious, especially since these numbers on WiiU are comparable if not more than Zelda's found on earlier Nintendo systems. I almost want to say the Zelda BotW misprint sprinted out the gate, but won't be able to keep that momentum. You know more about what's out there than I do, so I may be far off on my thought.
@@GetTheGreg 9.6 A+ is only at 21 though
The truth is that modern is the best. Plastic smells better than cardboard.
This data shows me the most popular Nintendo franchise is Zelda. Hands down
modern/dvd style cases: 9.6 A++ > 9.8 A+ , cardboard box games: 9.8 A+ > 9.6 A++ , logic here: valuing seal grade more on the hard cases, and valuing the box grade on the softer cardboard boxes.
Fantastic work, Greg!
Cheers Seth!
Insane how much the GTA pack can influence the data, There must be a ton of them out there not graded
Yea, they literally skew the entire PS2 pop haha. Realistically, I probably should have just done PS2 with them all removed
@@GetTheGreg yes and no, I think it makes it really interesting. As a collector If I was to want a graded GTA III, Vice City or San Andreas I would only want a first print copy... but that's me
Awesome video. Thanks for sharing
🤝
I was so excited to get my 9.4 A+Devil's Third back. Now, not so much.
Still a solid grade on a very sought after title!
Appreciate the work you put into summarizing the data and sharing!
Thanks man!
Just submitted the Jak and Daxter Trilogy PS4 Limited Run Games! POP 1 Baby 💥🧨
9.8 C is the future 😂
You just inspired me to try a new little project. I'm going to try to acquire each game in it's lowest grade possible for a console. Maybe for N64... It shouldn't be that expensive and I feel like it'll be fun. No 9.8 C's though, true low grade gems!
Great video Greg
I wonder why wata doesn’t report ds grades
The thing that I found interesting is that people shouldn't be submitting GTA San Andreas PS2 games for submission as there common as water. A San Andreas 9.6 A++ or 9.6 A+ is akin to striking out being that many other copies are graded higher with more to come. Another bit of information I would like to know is how many Zelda Breath of the Wild Nintendo Switch games have been graded and to know if the Wii U version (1st official release), has sold for more at auction compared to Breath of the Wild for the Nintendo Switch. I do know somebody paid $10K for a Breath of the Wild Switch game and if the Switch version has sold for more over that of the Wii U version it wouldn't seem right, granted I don't know if a 10.0 has been graded for a Wii U version of Breath of the Wild.
With San Andreas, their is still the actual retail print which only has around 100-200 copies submited vs the rest of them being the "common as dirt" trilogy edition reprint. Those trilogy edition games completely diluted all 3 of the GTA games.
With BOTW Wii U, I'm not sure if you're aware there is the "7 controller" first print misprint as well as the corrected 2nd print? The hype for the first print is what led to so many copies of both prints being submitted. I can't remember what the game eventually peaked at... 4000ish maybe?
BOTW switch also has a sale right in that range for a super high grade. These days, both are worth far less than their peak but I actually think the switch version might be pulling ahead now🤔 Need to see some more auctions of each haha
@@GetTheGreg I'm aware of the "7 controller" misprint on the Wii U version of BOTW, $4000ish for such a game seems conservative for the 1st print run knowing people are willing to shell out $10K for BOTW on Switch graded 10.0. It seems odd that the Switch version may be pulling ahead.
Wata PSP when..... dead ass might just use CGC
Yea, I'd say the next bet for even having a chance at PSP is another 4 months or so. No word on it at this point
At this rate, WATA will start to grade pre-ordered games
AMAZING ANALYSIS!!
How many case packs do you think are in the POPs??
BRAIN POPper, Hopper
Not looking at the chart but I'm going to assume gamecube graded sealed are going to be rarer then PS3 and 360
Current prices for PS3 or 360 I'm just spending the extra dollar or two for a sealed copy than used.
Generally speaking, they *should be*,, but it's going to be game by game basis. Some 360 and PS3 will for sure end up being more rare than some GC
Very cool video, I'm not sure about gamecube, ps2, and xbox being considered "modern" though haha. I feel like they weren't part of the collecting shift toward saving sealies becoming more popular
Yea I personally wouldn't truly classify them that way as well, but they were lumped in with dvd style cases so they all share that trait. I consider the 360/PS3 gen to be the start of "modern".
What the market looking like for cgc video games
Still too early to say. There are going to be a bunch coming up at heritage auctions and eBay soon enough though. By the end of January we should have a good gauge!
Per Wata scale, is it possible to score a 10 game grade, but A+ or lower seal? I have yet to see one, but you'd think it should be possible. If a 9.8 can score an A, A+ and the highly coveted A++ than it should be achievable for a 10 since the two are separate grades not dependent upon the other.
Theoretically, you should be correct.
In practice, no, 10 is only given out to "perfect" games, so 10 A++ is all that exists.
This is why seal is eveything for modern people!! This is why wata essentially has 3 grades for modern
1. (Poo) A.
2. (As nice as most raw) A+
3. (85+ and maybe higher) A++
Definitely makes me appreciate 90 and above on dvd cases. I really want to see how the VGA pop report stacks up now.
Has anyone found a sealed copy of sly cooper 2 ? 😂 just asking because I can't find one in good condition anywhere.
P.S great vid Greg , just started watching you a month or so ago.
Why is it not going to be easy to get a 9.6 A+ on premium titles like Halo & Halo 2 if an overwhelming majority of the console's games grade at 9.6 A+? Did Microsoft commission inferior plastic for these titles? Perhaps WATA is grading premium titles differently than common ones? Every grading company does it :( I get it :( ...... I hate it :( ....
I just mean it's probably going to be very expensive for someone to do so haha.
I have a King Of Fighters Xbox 360 graded but not on the report 😢. Why is this?
Oh that's weird. NTSC version?
It’s a PAL version. Would this be the reason?
@@jamesdfulhamfc yup. PAL, Japanese, other regions still aren't reflected on the pop reports
Mario Galaxy club feels a little less special now.
Mario Galaxy Club is an elite crew🥲
Consistency 🥳
Are you paid by, sponsored by or offered any discounts by Heritage Auction or WATA, or their subsidiaries or their staff... to create videos about their company(s) and services?
I was able to previously partner with Heritage for my livestream coverage of their auctions, specifically, and hope to continue that relationship.
All sponsored streams/videos are obviously disclosed as such.
Any video you see is made because I think it's interesting enough to talk about, not because I'm being paid. Given that this video is quite negative towards WATA's grading standards, hopefully you didn't assume this is paid content haha. I'd probably be fired👌
Oh, also, I had to check our last encounter... Did you figure out that WATA and Heritage have no affiliation since WATA was bought by CU in 2021? Last we spoke, you called Heritage WATA's parent company, despite CU literally owning their own auction house as well, Goldin. I didn't feel like continuing to argue with you then, but felt I should let you know now since I'm replying anyway.
@@GetTheGreg Hello, thank you for the reply. I suppose I should ask more clearly, are you receiving a numerous funds or partnered with any of these companies in general other than the mentioned live stream?
By the way, I don't think it necessarily matters who bought the company, as long as the same bad actors are involved. And I'm not going to discount the possibility of collusion with HA with any of these grading companies. Also I believe Wata is currently being sued for market manipulation if I'm not mistaken.
These pops have changed my mind a little on A++. A++ seems almost unobtainable on most systems so I feel much better about buying A+ on pretty much anything
That is very true as well, actually. Good point!
