I’m a lighter toned black guy with a bunch of red overtones. I never understood why I couldn’t wear purple. But now when I wear tiffany blue, I look vibrant like my skin is warm and glowing. The same goes for my teal grey contacts

Actually Purple is a Universal colour so not sure why it would not work for you, having said that so is Teal.Maybe the purple was not true purple but more of a Lavender or lilac, both are cool colours, maybe just not intense enough for your skin tone.

That's more of a subjective take. There's a reason why some clothes and colors flatter or look horrible on someone. You could observe this on shows or videos here on YT with people being styled according to their body types and seasons. The before and after photos of them are like night and day. There's always something proper for you that lets your natural beauty shine than be muddled by "what feels good to me".
It's not degrading, it's being able to play with the qualities you have and showcase them rather than forcing something that contradicts your natural assets. It's low key destructive telling someone they look good no matter what despite a color or style looking horrible at them.

Tan medium skin (Mediterranean olive),medium brown hair and green brown eyes (the green is actually obvious) and I've noticed that colours with less pigmentation look good on me. Jewel tones don't work as I would expect, black hair is an absolute no and instead pastels like minty green and lilac are my favourite.

I had a hard time figuring out these things growing up. My features tend to be mixed. Medium ash brown hair, jet black eyebrows, blue-yellow eyes, neutral skin tone, but it tends to have an olive yellow tone when I get a tan, cool mauve lip color.
I think when I wear colorful things, muted looks best. Red and navy are the “hot” colors on me.

Thx for an easy to understand explanation of simultaneous contrast. As an artist, I am very familiar with the concept and have used it in my art at times.
Recently I mentioned it to a friend as we were walking at night, how the night sky looked so blue, in the section of our walk where those orange mercury vapor street lights lit our path. But how the sky dulled to navy in the areas of complete darkness.
My companion had a different theory, mine was summarily dismissed as ridiculous. (Insert eye roll here.😂)
So it was really very refreshing to see your video here, today, m'dear. Wish I had it that night! ✨

Not red-orange, I definitely cannot wear that shade. Bella Hadid often wears this rich shade of true red and she usually has her hair up not down, making her hair appear darker, is that the secret? • @MikaelaCarrizo
      @MikaelaCarrizo  Год назад +1

Hi!! Great question, what color are your under eye circles? If they’re purple I would suggest to stay away from purple because it will actually make them look more purple haha. It will basically create “harmony” and “blend” with your colors but that’s not the effect you want! Stay away from black too :) Try anything opposite to purples (complimentary colors) and see how it looks! Try a light green or if you can find a cool whiteish soft yellow that would work too, just make sure it’s a cool yellow (with lots of white in it) and not warm.

100%. I think im a bright spring(think between Dark winter clear winter or bright spring but whatever i am i cannot pull off very well overly light colors. Like i had my hair dyed a light orange and nope not for me and like if i wanna wear a nude top or a white top I’ll look much better if i pair it with something like a green or red or pink navy or black than if i pair it with something more light(even tho sometimes imma pretend i can pull off a full nude color outfit or full light and wear it) and then nude/brown lipsticks don’t really work on me(which make me exclude im an autumn) Unless they got some pink or red or even Purple in em. I tried doing the Brown lipstick trend and it was a waste of money i was like nope imma stick to pink and Red I look best in dark hair colors and then i look best in Bolder colors. Like i feel most confident when i wear a bright Red outfit or green(Emerald frog or bright green whatever shade of green unless it’s olive or very light ) hot pink Fuchsia black. I can do pretty well the dark winter lipstick Palette like i look good in berry shades of Red and pink and even Purple unless the lipstick is very dark

I got this comment a lot.
      Yes, she’s beautiful :)
If you notice, she also died her eyebrows a lighter color to try counteract her natural hue and used softer colors in her clothing to match the overall coloring, Im guessing her stylist in that time knows about color theory, or she just naturally felt like wearing lighter colors because of her died hair etc.
Regardless of this, these are definitely not her BEST colors. She looks older and the first thing I see is the hair color/clothes and it seems like her face is hidden. Kim 100% looks good in everything lol, but she looks BETTER in dark, cold winter colors

While this is useful when learning color theory etc, I just don't think it's particularly practical or good mentally. I think if you want to wear something, wear it. You shouldn't be worrying about what other people think or being harmonious or pleasing to look at. As long as YOU like and FEEL good in what you are wearing - the confidence and happiness is what makes you GLOW. c: seriously. don't lose sleep over things like this. otherwise though, yeah color theory is cool to learn about. Just don't let it get to your head.

Technically though, without realizing it, most of us do feel better in colors that make us look better. I’m never going to feel happy in a color that washes me out. You don’t even need this video to tell you that. This theory isn’t to make you look better for others, this inherently has everything to do with what you feel when you look in the mirror at yourself as well.

It's practical, especially for people wasting money on clothes that make them look ridiculous. Picking the right colors that make your natural assets shine saves a lot of money (also provides self esteem). Mentally, it makes you feel better about what you have. I used to be stubborn like you, but it only cost me a lot of useless clothing and makeup. Color theory helps a lot, and it's not there to diminish but let people know they can play around with the characteristics they have 🤷

I could really get obsessed by this. I know it has been used in the movie industry for a long time. You could watch a movie star in filth and dirty trashy clothes look stunning and appealing. That is because of this color conscious approach. Actually, my grandmother was a lot more conscious of this than most contemporary people.

Can you do a video that differentiates soft autumn from deep autumn?
