Literally what happened with me. Memphis May Fire, BFMV and the. arch enemy, Spiritbox, BMTH and now I’m still listening to Spiritbox and BMTH, but Lorna Shore, Knocked Loose, Palface, Thrown, Humanity’s Last Breath and more

Props to her for being willing to step outside of her comfort zone and give other types of music a chance. I used to not enjoy the heavier styles with unclean vocals either, so I can understand why she would have found it a little off-putting, but at least she was willing to try, which is more than can be said for some people.
You are right on that point she is willing to step outside of her comfort zone and try something new or different. I have a lot of members in my family who are not willing to try something new even though I think they would enjoy it certain different types of metal. My brother is finally coming around More so than he did before but some people decide something is what they don’t like even before they haven’t tried it, and then won’t try it at all and that’s what I find. Disappointing with most people that nowadays.

Introduce her to artists with catchy vocal hooks in their music. Think of the ones who get a lot of radio airplay, like Breaking Benjamin, Bad Omens, Motionless in White, Chevelle, A7X, Bring Me The Horizon, Deftones, ADTR, Bad Wolves, I Prevail, Beartooth, etc... She will enjoy it a lot more. Once she gets comfortable, then start recommending the heavier stuff.

DEFINITELY need to ease people into metal. Spiritbox, Bring me the Horizon, A Day to Remember, Disturbed, Bullet for my Valentine, BABYMETAL, etc. Can't have them start out listening to Slaughter to Prevail, Chelsea Grin, or Exodus and expect them to like it. Love that she liked Fit for a King, tho. One of my favorites.
Metals so diverse with the most genres out of any music she just has to find the genre's she likes. I bet she'd like Imminence and some Invent Animate.

If I was on a similar mission, I'd put them on something like Erra, Northlane, Imminence, Annisokay, Caskets, Architects, Dreamwake, TesseracT, Polaris, Bleed From Within, Amaranthe, Future Palace, Spiritbox, Ankor, Currents, Wintersun, Make Them Suffer...and them maybe get them to try out deathcore :D As someone who didn't really like bands with JUST a harsh vocalist, I think having a clean one with harsh works so damn well.
They literally said Currents at the end of the video. Split was the song they used, she said she didn't like it.

Honestly man, I like metal and some of the heavier stuff too but I really don't get it with Currents. Don't know if it's just personal taste or if I'm missing something
100% Split really doesnt show off currents at all. Kill the Ache or Better days or even the more generic Place i feel safest (song) would be better

Sunshine is such an incredible song, you can sing along every time with a smile because it's so uplifting.

Show her Nothing More and let her see the lyrics. That was kind of the step up for me from preferring clean vocals to really enjoying the screams, and the songs are emotionally packed. Once you get used to the higher screams mixed with the cleans, it's a lot easier to listen to the gutterals and the fries. At least that was my experience.
Nothing left by As I lay dying is one of my favorite songs to work/drive to.
Gotta love the singer, good old Tim "I forsake God, started abusing steroids, and tried to have my wife killed" Lambesis.

Just proves metal isn't just screaming, sure us nut cases love a stank face and throwing arms at heaavvy breakdowns- but most of us started at the light end first 😉 i started with rock and roll, the beatles and queen when i was 5, then slowly progressed into metalcore and nu metal, and then found deathcore, tech death, and hardcore. Music is life, its nice to see our side of it being shared and enjoyed. Props to her for giving it a shot, have a feeling there ALOT of metal core bands she would actually like. metal head in the making for sure 🤘
Exactly, I don’t think any of us just jumped straight into deathcore. For me it was my parents music as a kid, like Van Halen and other 70s/80s rock, then I discovered Linkin Park in middle school, then in high school it was all the early 2000s post hardcore, and when I was in a bad mood it was Slipknot and BFMV. Then into my 20s was the 2010s metalcore, then eventually deathcore, and now I just listen to pretty much everything. It’s a journey to say the least! And everyone needs time to go on it.
I really like her personality and I like how the scream parts might not be her favourite right now but maybe one day but either way it’s fine

It feels like she's more vibing when there's clear voice, bet she would love Imminence, Holding Absence, Caskets or more known bands like BvB or BMTH with some more pop in it
I can definitely see her as a metal fan in the future! Metal is an acquired taste for the majority of even the biggest fans. Even myself I hated it for a long time but I slowly listened to more and more and worked my way from metalcore all the way into every genre. Bullet for my Valentine slipknot and arch enemy were my 3 main gateway bands. I still like all of those bands quite a bit

Post hardcore is a good shout. One post hard core band I could recommend would be Dream state and their early back catalogue is great for the gym got a good pace and vocals are mostly cleans and well placed heavys but not to heavy overall.
And a little over 40 minutes to play it through, New stuff is slightly heavier though as they got a new singer from a more metal background that really leans into the heavys.
i know most of us came from the first nonmetal heads video but i am hooked on these. i’m sure it’s kinda taking away from the brand’s original purpose but we really enjoy these. love the content!

Sometimes people can have such a closed mind when they grow up never listening to other genres in their life. Even myself, I used to oppose stuff like Brittany Spears, Taylor Swift, 21 Sav and stay true to bands like BFMV, Trivum, Disturbed, and WCAR. Glad that she approached it with an open mind like me when I converted to half a Swiftie and really good for her to do that, hope yall put more people on this and film their reaction!

I was 11 years old when I became a metalhead. I was a pop guy but my dad was a metalhead. He played a couple of songs and that is what brought me into this world. The 2 songs were Wasted Age by We Came as Romans, and Mikasa by Veil of Maya. I now am huge in a band called Oceans Ate Alaska.

If I can recommend a band, I got my brother into metal with Periphery, particularly P3: Select Difficulty. Spencer’s vocal work won him over big time along with guitar melodies and mix of heavier moments with ballad-y sections.

I absolutely love that you're promoting great christian metal bands. It's so rare these days for people to actually openly say they either listen to and/or like christian metal
It’s the “Christian” title. People automatically get turned off thinking it’s gonna be preachy, and I’ll admit as of lately I’ve been loving Christian music, metal and rap.
Slayer and Deicide are good Christian bands as well. She should try them next!

I used to be like her. I couldn’t understand metal until I forced myself to read the lyrics and give it a fair listen. But it wasn’t until I went to a show that I realized what I was missing. Get her to a Beartooth show.
She's done. I went from "not too bad" to freaking All Shall Perish, At the Gates, and Dark Tranquillity in 2 years. Blessings for her

She's so sweet and really freaking beautiful. But its really awesome how open minded she is to accept this challenge. I hope she becomes a metalhead eventually. Maybe metal covers of popular songs will help. "Everytime We Touch" by Electric Callboy, for example.

Best way to convert someone into metal is to take them to a show. The environment is fun and filled with crazy energy.
She's not a metal head, she's just really kind and appreciates music for what it is. And quite frankly very unfair to force someone to listen to something she's not emotionally connected to and alot of these songs can take an absolute mental toll.
Give her some While she sleeps, Architects and Imminence I bet she will like most of the songs. :-)
Good for her that’s she’s open to other styles of music. For a moment I was afraid she was one of them girls that only trains glutes, but good to see she did a total body workout in the end.
Bullet for my Valentine and Trivium. The Poison and Ascendency. The 2 albums that got me in to metal.

Give her some Amaranthe, Nightwish, Avantasia, Avenged Sevenfold, Soilwork, Arch Enemy, In Flames, Spiritbox, A Day to Remember and then we go towards Black Tongue, Humanity's Last Breath, Lorna Shore, Thy Art is Murder, Fir For An Autopsy, Cattle Decap and Dying Fetus.
If you want to tech metal music to someone, I would recommend starting with symphonic metal or some metal genres close to it. For example, Nightwish, Epica, Within Temptation, Apocalyptica. Then Metallica: Enter Sandman, Avenged Sevenfold: Hail to the King and Nightmare, Bee by Amorphis etc.
Leg day pretty much demands a listen through Embodyment's Embrace the Eternal!

Yeah I think you gotta go with more metalcore stuff and metal with clean vocals. Most of us metalheads today started off with Linkin Park and shit like that when we were young, and got into heavier stuff slowly. Getting into metal is just like the process of mentally letting down barriers of stuff you thought was weird, going TOO DEEP too fast (that's what she said) can have the opposite effect of what you're looking for

Any form of workout or sport is better with metal. Lifelong Slayer fan here and it's on when I run and work out. Can't really listen to it in the gym when I'm at judo or muay thai class but everywhere else 🤘
