Murdaugh was sentenced to 40 years on the 22 federal financial crimes he previously plead guilty to. The court denied the governments motion to break Murdaughs plea deal as moot. He was ordered to pay over $8.7 million in restitution. Reports indicate that this sentence will be served concurrent with his state sentences. Yes, Murdaugh is already serving 2 life sentences and the 27 years he was sentenced to on the state financial crimes, but this restitution order sends a message that the court isn’t taking lightly these financial crimes. This sentence acknowledges the breach of trust in stealing from clients. This sentence is higher than most financial crime sentences. There was also an update in the Nautilus Insurance denying Murdaugh motion to add Satterfield and Harriott to this lawsuit. Case closed for now but we will circle back if there are any movements to his many appeals.

Now you can't do that many drugs. And he's lying. South Carolina here. 💪
damn is the .88 cents for me 😬
He is very sorry he got caught, nothing more nothing less.
Put him UNDER the prison
Oh he IS full of regret,.... that he got caught and convicted!!!
" betting with beef sticks?" O.M.G.😂😂😂😂
Even if he is granted a new trial over the murders and he is found not guilty, He is never getting out of prison
I absolutely love the judge's eloquent way he says, "I call bull$hit!" to Murdaugh's statement.
If everything was put in Buster’s name, what happens then?
Him and buster were put under a receivership back when he was first arrested and Buster started selling off things. I believe Buster has come to an agreement and gets to keep 500 thousand.
Thank you
I don’t believe the drug addiction excuse…. He was just greedy. He killed his family to bide him some time to make sure the money wasn’t found. The property was all in the wife’s name. The son was to make it “believable“ to be over the boat accident. Not that I think anyone would believe someone else would off Paul when he’s finally about to go to trial for the boat accident….that would have also cost Alex a lot of money in damages.
I'm an opiate addict, I've been in recovery for 11 years. Anyway I live in North Carolina, so based on my experience there's NO flippin' way he spent over $50,000 a week on opiates of ANY kind.
There is no, zero, nada chance any person could use enough opioids to add up to $50k a week! He would have either died or would be so stoned he would not be able function at all and STILL it wouldn’t come anywhere close to $50k.
@@amandamosteller1371So glad you have managed to get clean. Good luck to you
@gryffent he actually tried to tell investigators that he was spending per week. During cross examination at his trial, he claimed to have taken upwards of "60" (sixty) oxycodones per DAY!!! As I stated above, with the fentanyl contamination, he would be beyond dead. Then again, maybe he did so much that his heart was able to restart itself after an OD... I could see him saying something like that!!
@@amandamosteller1371 Two houses, housekeepers, a probably very spoiled wife, groundskeepers, hunting trips, the BOAT, gambling. Someone was burning money like crazy.
“Betting with Beefsticks”
Great line.
😂right?😊😅
That pour kid lost all 3 members of his family. Must be extremely painful.
He lost 2 family members and a monster who no one missed
I HOPE ALL DIRTY LAWYERS !! LOOKING AT THIS !! 😳🤪🤪👀👀💰💰💰💰💰💰💰💶💶💶💶💶
💜Thank You and Hello from Michigan💜
With this amount of money wouldnt a forensic financial investigation be warrented?
I thought his law firm paid the victims. Doesn’t he owe them? He’s sad he got busted. The Judge is spot on! AM would’ve been catatonic or dead if he consumed 8 million of drugs
Great quick bits Emily! Thank you!
Supposedly that's why he killed his wife and son. Conspiracy theory .
Good. Put this guy in jail for the rest of his life. How can he pay though?
Murdaugh doesnot show physical signs of medium-long term drug use.
There are still ongoing investigations into people who helped Murdaugh who have not been prosecuted.
@@stargazer3677 Far away,did not know:thank you :)
I absolutely love this. ❤😂 Get him judge.
So wait, was the plea deal rescinded?
Question for EDB: the other day you defined “canon” and the word meaning “conversation about the canon of law” - what was the second word?? Thank you!!
Dicta ?
@@lorizeppelina2286 THANK YOU!!!!! 🙏
The judge effectively declared that it was a case of Murdaugh most foul.
thank goodness yes
ha ha
🤣🤣🤣 This deserves to be pinned.
Was Murdaugh also disbarrred?
Good morning. 👍 My condolences to the family of the ones that were taken. Rip. 🫶
Duke are ya bind? Why’s with the glasses gay?? Ok
I’m pretty sure he was having somebody put money on somebody’s books months ago like last year or you can hear it in the jail calls from the trial about his family
Watching on replay! I always felt that the law original law firm should have been looked at. How can a law firm not know about all this stealing for years and the overwhelming amount? He should just give up with the money is? At least he won't be getting out unless there is some technical glitch. They should have just torn that land apart and look for the money.
He is already putting money on someone's acct, it was on the phone calls that were released awhile back.
His family members were putting their own money on his account and then twice more (per the phone calls) on someone else’s account.
This incomprehensible amount of embezzlement for so many years should be dropped at the feet of the CFO Jeanne Seckinger. And she should have been investigated and subsequently terminated.
@@mikeedwards2621 I honestly don’t know how no one noticed money going missing since 2005.
I like that judge
Is there a victims compensation fund being set up?
That fool had it ALL 😮 !!
Everybody for the past couple years when they come up for sentencing say that they're trying to be a better person. Yeah. Right. And his sorry and remorse statement sounded like a Hallmark card for that. Didn't come from the heart at all Not one bit of it.
I personally dont think he “has” much more money. I think it has been shuffled around and if he admits where it is that opens up a lot more dirt and things him and his family were involved in. His family may have also been victims of him, but they are also not innocents
Has the IRS gone after Murdaugh yet for taxes? Will they or do you think that with State and Federal they will not bother?
Good, he should never be free.
He used his. CHARM. AND CHARISMA. 😂. He’s DISGUSTING. IN EVERY WAY.
Hi!
I hope Lafitte and Cory flemming are able to pay some of the victims, I think they were both wealthy
Gergel “seize” or sees everything?
Other than providing for busters life style what does he gain from hiding the money not much he can do with it locked up for the rest of his life
Buster has the money
Betting with beef sticks! 😂
😂😂😂 don't move !
What! His brother was in on it?
Money in the Bahamas?
His lawyers should be required to cough up all the money they made from his crimes and add that to the restitution. And maybe Buster should be required to kick in, too. He benefited all those years from the stolen money in his lifestyle.
It's probably off shore. We need to stop making it so easy for rich people to hide their money.
I'm not sure if I'm clear here. The original deal was that the Federal prison time would be run concurrently with the state prison time, which is 26 (?) years. So would the 40 years be: 40 minus 26 which would equal 14 new years (in a Federal prison) of time?
No. It will be + . He will have to serve at least 23 years on each I think
There is a family trust. I think that is where the money is. Is the trust being managed by the unnamed lawyer?
Dumb question but, he is already going to be in jail for life x2. He should pay restitution. How does adding another 40 years going to do anything? It seems like it’s a big waste of the courts/attorneys time to add jail time that will never happen.
Tax foot all the bill 💵
He will do damage from jail just to amuse himself and flex all his good ole boy frat connections.
His lawyers r getting paid ?? They r not 🚫 working for free 🆓 😂😂
Generational wealth .. transferred
yeah, he's "filled" with everything except the money he's hidden and will never let the victims touch!
he is STILL manipulating everyone around him just as hard as he can, because that's all he knows how to do.
My personal opinion is that Murdaugh has and is working as hard as he can to protect as many of his assets as he can for his remaining son.
This guy keeps the money until there is a parole hearing, then he will offer some of it in exchange for parole to show his remorse. The parole board then should kick him out the same second. May he rot in hell.
He’s not getting parole on anything with a double murder conviction.
Where is the money at ? He could spend all that money 💰 on drugs ! If he did he is very to be alive 😮 !
Maybe gambling addiction (most expensive of them all), but he would have admitted to it.
How much is this home and kennels and land worth? Take it from him to pay people. In this house market right now they should get a good amount of money for it. Did his wife have jewelry? Sell it. How about extra cars? Sell them.
Their Moselle home sold last year. And I’m not sure how the estate stuff works since there is still a living son who is not in jail. The burden of paying that off would be on Alex, not Buster.
Woopty duck. He'll never pay the money. The sentence in concurrent. It would have hurt more if consecutive.
💜💜💜
It’s the drugs fault
I was using drugs to deal with the guilt of what I was doing
Which one is it dude?
Why are your cussery words bleeped out
The issue with the Satterfield’s getting the money back is that Gloria died from a stroke and subsequent brain bleed. If they were awarded money that shouldn’t have been awarded to them from the beginning (because a stroke is a natural cause) would that allow Nautilus to get that money back at some point?
Cuz she old and not at gong well aging
He consumed the money in the form of drugs. Yes it’s possible to consume millions of dollars worth of drugs.
Yes we know bc it's been shoved in our faces everywhere we go on social .. blocking this annoying old media ...
