    Murdaugh was sentenced to 40 years on the 22 federal financial crimes he previously plead guilty to. The court denied the governments motion to break Murdaughs plea deal as moot. He was ordered to pay over $8.7 million in restitution. Reports indicate that this sentence will be served concurrent with his state sentences. Yes, Murdaugh is already serving 2 life sentences and the 27 years he was sentenced to on the state financial crimes, but this restitution order sends a message that the court isn’t taking lightly these financial crimes. This sentence acknowledges the breach of trust in stealing from clients. This sentence is higher than most financial crime sentences. There was also an update in the Nautilus Insurance denying Murdaugh motion to add Satterfield and Harriott to this lawsuit. Case closed for now but we will circle back if there are any movements to his many appeals.

    I don’t believe the drug addiction excuse…. He was just greedy. He killed his family to bide him some time to make sure the money wasn’t found. The property was all in the wife’s name. The son was to make it “believable“ to be over the boat accident. Not that I think anyone would believe someone else would off Paul when he’s finally about to go to trial for the boat accident….that would have also cost Alex a lot of money in damages.

      I'm an opiate addict, I've been in recovery for 11 years. Anyway I live in North Carolina, so based on my experience there's NO flippin' way he spent over $50,000 a week on opiates of ANY kind.

    • @gryffent
      @gryffent Месяц назад +2

      There is no, zero, nada chance any person could use enough opioids to add up to $50k a week! He would have either died or would be so stoned he would not be able function at all and STILL it wouldn’t come anywhere close to $50k.

      @gryffent he actually tried to tell investigators that he was spending per week. During cross examination at his trial, he claimed to have taken upwards of "60" (sixty) oxycodones per DAY!!! As I stated above, with the fentanyl contamination, he would be beyond dead. Then again, maybe he did so much that his heart was able to restart itself after an OD... I could see him saying something like that!!

He should just give up with the money is? At least he won't be getting out unless there is some technical glitch. They should have just torn that land apart and look for the money.
